5:26 I have been 4wheeling since 1982, those shelf roads with the camber to the low side with a little snow and ice on them still freak me out. I hit a patch of ice once and ended up tobogganing backwards down the hill and ended up over the bank. I almost had my front end swung around as I put my rear bumper into the bank but did a 180 and ended up going off the road backwards.

Ya I've had some interesting rides on that shit too, drug a buddy up a frozen hill in a jeep trail in the beartooths, told him we have one shot to make it or it will a mess at the bottom, we hit that hill like a whore on nickel night lol, just barely made the top!. You probably noticed I was riding the ditch on them shelter roads lol.

@@MontanaDirtRoadsYes as would I. Early season offroading can create some pretty scary situations. One min you are in crispy crunchy snow then pure ice on the section of road the sun shines on. Going down no brakes hardly any steering and even being in low range 1st gear for compression braking is sketch. Your brain is screaming brakes, brakes but to maintain control you need to feather the gas when you really don't want to. Meanwhile your passenger is yelling to be let out of the rig. Fun times LOL BTW I subbed 👍

Thanks for subbing guy! I have over inflated my tires a time or 2 so I could cross or traverse icy roads, I went down a mountain switch back that was all iced up and with running water on it .....only ti.e I wished I had chains but the goodyear duratracks got me though it unscathed with some creative driving thrown in ( I used to race auto cross so I have some tricks)

Why are you always so secretive about where you are??
@MontanaDirtRoads
@MontanaDirtRoads 7 ай бұрын
Because alot of areas have been overwhelmed, shut down or vandalized from Irresponsible land users that have found these places by youtube or Facebook groups.i don't want to be the reason a 120 year old miners cabin was burned down cause I revealed its location..it's becoming a problem now due to social media,I know it costs me subscriptions but it's something I won't do. There are exceptions to this and I have given names to a few ghost towns or old railroad grades that one can drive on.

@@MontanaDirtRoadsWe have that same problem in Alberta. The government is shutting down trails as too many people find these places and just trash them. How hard is it to pick up your beer cans and shot gun shells/brass? When I camp I leave the place better than when I found it. I even pack out dirty diapers and my kids are adults. I also bury human turds after someone surface sh!ts. I want to preserve these places. I use GAIA GPS maps to explore places in Alberta, BC and Montana (onX maps are not very good in Canada) but I never post the places I find publicly. If I want a friend to join me I share privately.
