I don't see the rule saying the pitstop are mandatory in F1. Can you enlighten me? www.formula1.com/en/championship/inside-f1/rules-regs.html

you need to use 2 different dry compounds
@viperconcept6 жыл бұрын
Gotcha :-)
@playfast3216 жыл бұрын
Yeah its a bit complicated. In a dry race you have to use 2 different compounds (fe soft and medium). This makes stopping mandatory. However, this is not the case in wet conditions, where you are allowed to continue running on one set of tires if you can. If its crossover conditions like from dry to wet you dont have to use 2 compounds but you would want to anyways because it can make you time

It has been several years I don't follow F1. Didn't know they made it so complicated now. lol

The sounds of the pneumatic wrenches whir madly as gas trickles down into the belly of the beast. Crew members waiting in anticipation as the tires are quickly changed. The lollipop man holding his sign, ready to signal the "go" to the driver. The man holding the steering wheel begging to drive off as the other teams watch. Finally the gas hose is detached. The pneumatic jacks are off. The lollipop man raises his sign. The driver steps on the gas. The pit stop.

You forgot an other kind of races : Endurance. It's like no mandatory pit stops long races, but way more important. Perhaps more than the race itself. A bad pit strategy can cost you 3-4 pit stops, so sometimes 3-4 minutes.

I've done a livestream few days ago in which the race is a 1-hour GT3 class sprint race in RaceRoom (against AI obviously). There I set the "50-seconds mandatory pitstop" rules like I've seen in Blancpain GT series. My strat was start with full tank during the first half, then I pit for fresh tires but no refueling because at that time I was punted here and there, going as low as 22nd place from 30 cars. It proved to be a very excellent strat because with no refueling, my pitstop only cost 1 second more than the mandatory pitstop time limit and my car became lighter and faster, and I finished 11th with fuel still enough to do few more laps. I could've been finished inside top 10 but I've done a lot of mistakes in final minutes because of worn tyres and corner cutting slow-down penalties (BTW you can't really change the tire compound in the game, the options are there in car setup but that option only available to certain class, e.g Formula RaceRoom class). But I enjoyed that race, and I'm proud of myself because I achieve the feat using a mere standard controller (AI difficulties in RaceRoom are set between 80 to 110, there's also an "adaptive AI" difficulty which could provide you AI that can still give you challenge while you can overtake lots of cars depending on your average performance. In this case I set the difficulty to 95 because the AI can give you serious challenge but still in range of your average laptime on controllers)....

I start the races with slightly more fuel and a harder tyre compound just so I can stay ahead and build a gap for myself to pit comfortably. On the closing stages, if I need to pit, I give myself just enough fuel and the softest tyre compound to really push to the end rather than nursing the car home

I know each game has got different mechanics but let's look at Gran Turismo Sport for example. in terms of Fuel Mapping, is there a formula to figure out time loss for lowering Fuel Consumption vs time loss for refuelling? I know you can kind of figure this out by doing lots of testing but, other than that, is there a way to tell this on paper? thanks!!

I do as little stops as possible. Endurance races are won easily by having one less pit stop than anyone else. Don't always run rich fuel mixture if you can get away with it. 1 less stop can save you 30+ seconds. but, agreed, when it is said that it doesn't always work out that way.

In Gran Turismo 4, I usually took into account the number of laps and how fast my tires got too hot or my fuel wore out so I pitted after a constant number of laps. #mymumsaysitsanintelligentstrategyblahblahblah Also, if the number of laps doesn't match the last pit I gotta do, I try to go slower between one couple of pit stops or evidently omit the last one.
@re_negado6 жыл бұрын
Also, I "raced" ("B-specced") the 100 laps to Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway a lot of times with the Formula Gran Turismo (easy money) and only one pit stop is needed for refuelling (you can guess the command is given at lap 50) since the game doesn't have the ability to burst wheels when they're burning, something that happened after around 10 or 15 laps.
