Hey everyone! Welcome to the continuation of our Scrap Mechanic co-op survival adventure! In this episode kAN and I use our helicopter and truck and face them off against each other in a component kit race! Which is the faster way to gather these important parts? For the haybot rods, I have a solution that saved me a lot of time in the game. I throw them out of each building and once I´m back down, I place them next to it. Later, when I go for mining, I´m doing a driveby and let my miner collect them. Same thing could work with your zamboni. Just take it out and clean up your world, while you directly refine them. Also you might not have as much to unbox from the green boxes, as you thing. there´s gonna be a bunch of boxes left over.

The tote bots ate for carrying things. Evidence: The red guys shown in Dev Blog 20 are carrying explosives. Also, the whips are broken antennas. Also, also: the hay bots are for packaging hay because they have ribbons on their "tusks" which are the same colo(u)r as the hay maze bundles.

if you took the collectors on the truck you can pick up the backs stack them together and drop them into the collector and save time rather than grinding them all down by hand. that would save you tons of time.

Totebots look like they'd be for herding cattle, and their "beak" on the front looks like it'd be for picking up seeds, so I'm assuming herding and seed planting/gathering

'Tote' - meaning to carry or haul. My guess would be the cable on their head was originally attached to something that they would pull, like a cart or some transport. When the Robolution began, they broke free and ran amok. The head cable emits sparks showing where it was disconnected/torn from whatever it was attached to. Just my theory

Also get tons of spuds, bounce back and forth between boss areas, use spudling gun and you will have more component kits then ever. since they drop 1-3 per boss every time. I did this for about an hour and had 2 chest full of component kits.

maybe the purpose of the totebots was watching the other bots and making sure they did what they were supposed to, and their heads make noise cause they yelled at bots who were doing something wrong, and also they whipped other bots to make them work harder, cause the bots maybe feel pain or they could just be woc herders

xD, regarding the "lore" discussion the Red Tapebot was made to do extermination work (like blasting mice n' suff) while the Totebots where kinda like those indian food carriers, carring stuff on their heads (as also seen by the new red one)

24:10 - Bot functions (My personal Theory) Tapebots - wrap packages in warehouses FarmBots - clearing trees/boulders and plowing fields (this does not explain chemicals, but maybe bots weaponized and adapted a water gun or fertilizer dispenser ) HayBots - rake/clear chaff and hay from fields Totebots - move and haul items. Most likely their head cable was originally attached to a cart or other transport. It appears to me that blue sparks are from where cable was torn or cut.

I agree with the totebot but the farm bots not equipped for trees. Drill for rock reaper thing for hay. Also love your idea with the water gun.

@@alexanderfrank1173 Yeah.. the farmbot is a stretch. However, it is _able_ to remove trees with it's arm blade/scythe in game. And given that it has a drill on its undercarriage, it makes sense that it would be used to clear areas of rocks, etc. Your idea with its blade/scythe being used to harvest crops is quite possible. But I felt it unlikely that it would need a drill when its function would be to harvest crops. There shouldn't be any rocks to clear if the crops have already been planted and grown. I suppose it could be general purpose farm duties, which might explain its rather eclectic selection of attachments. And we can't discount the idea that the bots have modified their original design in some ways. Regardless, we may never know unless the lore is expanded (I hope it will be someday).

I think you should do a competition of who can get 150 component kits faster. I know it is a lot of time and pain because I played survival too but maybe in vid or if you have someone to talk with it would be a better feeling

Go get another 200 component kits and upgrade your helicopter into a chinook. Get that straight-line package delivery for farmers and fruit crates

"Wouldn't it be nice if we had a chest full of component kits?" Kan just farmed 60 kits in half an hour so it's not like it's unreachable with a little RNG luck. He wasn't even particularly efficient about it. And your heli is a little slow and clumsy so there's definitely room for improvement still. A faster flyer and some practice to quickly land on roofs and you can easily push that to 150-200 kits an hour or even more with a little luck. Though even a chest full would still only be 6 thrusters :P I've also noticed that you always skip the roofs of the ruins you loot if there isn't a direct path up. You can easily get up there with a toilet or passenger seat and there's usually 2-3 chests up there. On the radio towers/antennas too.

why not place a resource collector in each of the ruins you usually raid ? then just have a refiner on a vehicle to clean out once in a while. robot metal is a infinite resource so might as well take advantage of it. and yes i agree with a fant mod series. it got some awesome parts. specially like the ability to craft component kits . ballast tanks and 1x1x1 angle sensors. can stabilize things without it need sensors reading ground. also the propellars work in both air and water.

Kosmo - i'm outta taders! also kosmo - uses 3-5 shots with the shotgun to kill everything when only needs 1-2 it looks like it doesn't really matter what way you use, as you both gathered the same amount compared to yourself using either method.

I've found that the Survival Harvesting Boost mod reduces the grind just enough that it's fun without going all the way to tedious. I've stopped picking up circuit boards and component kits because i have so many in storage just from the turrets around my main farming base.

A lot of the stuff you guys have for idea is in the 00Fant mod. I tend to shy away from mods but this mod feels more like an expansion that cheating.

Great videos, as always. Though you guys really should consider building an afk-able component kit farm. In my own world I have an area with a small farm set up with a tier 3 metal fence surrounding it. On top of that fence is a bunch of pistons that are attached to a crusher. The pistons are hooked in to timers so that it runs on a continuous loop where it drops the crusher, raises it, then pauses at the top for a short period before dropping again. Inside the crusher I put resource collectors to collect the haybot spines, then inside, on top of the fence I put a grinder with a chest for each resource collector. Inside, on the ground, I intend (still wip) to put vacuum pumps with chests, connected to either pistons or wheels that will allow it to slowly patrol back and forth along the fence, picking up circuit boards and component kits. Now is this faster than actively raiding ruins? No, absolutely not. But with it being afk-able, I can simply let it run while I'm sleeping and I get some good parts to work with. Note that the mechanic will starve to death while afk-ing, but the raids will continue coming night after while the mechanic is passed out. About the only issue I've run into with this system is the occasional totebot head getting jammed into things.

Maybe a cool 12 wheeled mega truck with wheels like this: o 00 o The zeros are double wheels while the os' are single wheeled and for steering. Then Stick the bed of both trucks together to create a long bed and make the cab to the side

You really need to make that heavy-duty transport helicopter you thought of making in some of the previous episodes, model of preference, a CH-53 Stallion heli. Help carries lots of cargo through the map. There you go, a reason to continue the component kits competition.

the WIKI says that "The name "Totebot" suggests that their intended function was to carry items around, likely by balancing them on their head. This is supported by an early name for the Totebot: "Cargo Robot", which comes from the name of Totebot Heads in the game files before they were fully added. The upcoming Red Totebot balances Explosive Canisters on its head. The other Totebots may have done the same for other objects."

Based on what we saw in the devblog, I would say hold on to that chemical and start stocking up cuz it looks like we're going to need a lot of it! I'm going to start stocking it up in my repurposed warehouse i have taken ownership of. you can store all kinds of stuff in there. stuff that doesn't have to load around your base when you load the base or are around it if component kits were easy to get there wouldn't be any value to builds or creations or challenge of scavenging or surviving!

You guys totally should relax about refining haybot arms. I have an absurd number of hours in scrap mechanic and have never been tense about it. My approach is to just chuck the arms out the window and do my raiding with my refining vehicle and just refine-bot whatever I can easily get with the truck (which is most of them). There's better things to do with your life than witling away at those things. If you ever want to test the theory, consider mining (but not refining) a few rock formations. I think you'll find that your frames don't suffer at all when the zones with the piles aren't loaded, and only suffer a tiny bit when they are loaded.

if you want to not waste resources, if you pick any fruit or veggies up and you don't want to waste the inventory space instead of throwing them on the ground just put them in your hot bar and eat them right then and there. then you can save a little of your good food for after your done looting the buildings

You guys should do challenge survival playthroughs where you have certain limits etc. like Scrapman’s Nomad playthrough

Why not modify the .LUA files to adjust drop rates? I modified heybots to almost guarantee a drop of either one circuit board, 2 circuit boards, one component kit, one each component kit and circuit board, or 2 ( if I’m really lucky) component kits with most common drops first in the list and rarest last. It does help speed progress up a bit but I will admit that I still get most kits from chests and I didn’t even modify those. You can also change bot health and attack damage here so you can have higher steaks for higher rewards or to balance gameplay for instance I modified tape bots to have half the normal damage but double the normal xp which actually makes the shootouts less tense, more fun, but still challenging. I don’t know how to adjust drop rates for certain items like clams yet. If I do I’ll let you know cause glue farming is a pain in my opinion.

Standard tile on every map. They are a bunch of the red tubes that are next to the mechanic stations. They are dumped(or crashed) in a big ditch filled with water.

@@rysiii811 yes it’s not near any mechanic station. Just the tubes are the same ones that are next to the mechanic station. I think this tile is called the capsule scrapyard. In case you didn’t know, there is a basic layout of the map which is fixed for everyone. Things like the mechanic stations, trader, packing stations, warehouses and some more things are fixed in the map. The rest of the area is randomly generated. You can google “scrap mechanic survival map”. It will link you to a reddit post which shows this layout.
