RACING THE BREAKAWAY on The Haute Route Pyrenees! (Can I keep up?)

This is my experience of the Haute Route Pyrenees 2022. Haute Route is the hardest and most complete multi day event you can ride as an amateur cyclist. The stages are very similar to the Grand Tours of World tour Professianal cycists. In this event we raced 5 stages in 5 days, 627km and 15.700m of elevation, starting in Biarritz and ending in Saint Lary. On stage one the excitement started good with a breakaway in the valley. I got in, but did I keep up? We had 3 climbs in this race: the ''col de Landerre'', ''col de Bagargui'' and ''Col du Pourtalet''

Great vlog series! Even from my couch that early morning bus ride felt so stressful. I hate pre-race. On a positive note those "cow dung roads" are a thing, in: Winter - shit sprayed over your kit and bike; Spring - small infested zones of little flies; So these usually are the parts where we hold breath and either ride carefully slow(wet) or sub-MAX power through it(flies zone).

Wow! So it looks like to stay with the front group at the start need over 5w/kg! Ouch! Man, I so know that feeling towards the end there, so great you kept your 2nd spot to the finish. Nothing worse than going from 300w's to a max of 210w's on the climbs(my wattages) and having seemingly 100's pass you in mass start races. So demoralising! U obviously had a good gap and those behind were feeling it too. Those descents were sketchy as! Glad you made it down in one piece :)
