As a Mexican person myself, this is very relatable. My mom is from Mexico and she has a similar accent to the one the woman in this video has. I get really mad when someone makes fun of people of my culture. I also get really mad when people of other cultures are being made fun of too. I’m Mexican and I’m proud of my culture. Everyone should be proud of their culture and embrace it. This racism and discrimination seriously needs to stop.

This is a great video! I used to tutor kindergarten at my son's school to little boys and girls who did not know how to speak English. I work with them so hard for you by the time they went to first grade they spoke English very well they graduated out of kindergarten the first grade. Thursday they remember me and they said if I wasn't for me they would not have made it through the whole fifth grade cuz I taught them to speak English. I'm very proud of the children that I worked with.

This was an excellent video! Honestly, this type of racism, prejudice & bullying happens far more often than you might realize! I have witnessed it myself. Sadly, school boards are also very much "cliquey" like that too. I tried joining one year's ago when my older children were small & there were certain ladies in the group that did ALL the talking, had ALL the ideas & basically ignored new members & did their very best not to be welcoming, or make them feel included. It's a shame when adults behave more like children, but many grown women do. What may be a harmless joke to someone can be extremely offensive & insulting to another. Be gentle with your words. Nobody should ever tease anyone because where they come from, their accent, race, ethnicity, etc. Coincidental how the bully's name in this vid was Karen, as she certainly was one by every definition of the word. I'm glad at the video's end, Maria had her chance to shine & make Karen look like the disrespectful fool she is. You could tell that the ladies of the board were not impressed by Karen, even though they went along with her ideas throughout most of the video. Always treat others with the same respect you wish to be treated with. Welcome new faces. Don't insult someone just because you can. That makes you look bad, not them! Oh by the way, unfortunately I left the school board after only a few meetings when I noticed that it was more of a clique than anything. I wish more females would act their age. But back to the bottom line, racism should not be tolerated anywhere! It is unacceptable, inappropriate & also a crime.

When my kids were in grade prep n 1n 2 I used to go and help with reading I used to love doing that but when kids started hearing me read they started teasing my daughter and not even the teacher did anything about it and none of the kids ever invited my kids to their bdays parties and the parents used to look at me like I was from another planet ,my poor daughter was so hurt by it ,I didn't care for me but it broke my heart to see her being left out ,so I told her when they say your mom can't speak tell them she's learning like us but it didn't work n they teased even more ,that was 25 years ago ,I'm french and in that time here in Australia was a bit different I always taught my kids to respect n help anyone with a different accent colour country or background and they grew up to be beautiful kind human beings and im proud of it ,is horrible when you go to a different country n you don't feel welcome .love all your videos . from a Frenchy in Australia 🇫🇷🇦🇺

Wow, I LOVE this video and message, the ending was awesome!!! First, Karen was extremely racist and mean, especially "correcting" Maria's English, then butchering her native Spanish words herself! For people to understand and speak more than one language I have the utmost respect. The fact Maria was able to learn more than the one language she grew up with is amazing, even with her heavy accent. Karen only knows ONE language. OK, two if you count bullying as a language lol. Also, mean as she was, she did humbly apologize at the end there...but the other ladies (minus the friend who introduced Maria) should have apologized as well for their own racist mean comments and laughter. Sure, they can argue that they did this because they were afraid of getting on Karen's bad side, but that's no excuse. The Word Farm Adventure sounds like an awesome game. I am half Mexican and wish so much I had been taught Spanish growing up. I wish there was a version of the game that could teach Spanish! I will check this game out though! Great video!!!

My boyfriend is French so he speaks with an accent and lots of kids make fun of him at school for it. He does speak English but he prefers to do French since it’s his first language. I went to places such as Antigua, Panama, Mexico, and Jamaica all speak different languages and have different accents, however still extremely friendly and welcoming people. I have friends from Australia, British Columbia, Niagara Falls, Scotland, and France, where your from doesn’t define your inner beauty❤️

Maria is a good example of being a kind person. She knew one thing that one needs to conquer evil with loving kindness. Perhaps one can make a difference by being kind towards others. As Dale Carnegie said in book which was published in the 1930's, his known for his book is entitled "How To Win Friends and influence people". Dale said in his book that people aren't creatures of logic but individuals with emotions. Everyone on the planet deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
