Racism exists within the Mexican community, the Mexican American community, Caribbean latino communities: Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican. Racism has existed in these communities for decades. Colorism has also existed within these communities for decades.

I’d say centuries since the Spanish Conquest and Colonization imposed their racial categorization casta system on the people in their colonies.

So i guess not enough people in the black and brown communities were listening close enough when Elijah Muhammad for 40yrs was teaching about this very issue being a 6000yr old social construct that had been geared to perpetuate itself until a given time.

Haiti isn't part of the Latin world because it was a French possession.
@madedurfy10 ай бұрын
Haiti is literally on the island of Hispaniola. The term "Latino" came from ancient Rome. Who does that word accurately describe?
@simonjusticier33310 ай бұрын
Not true, the term Latin America was invented by Napoleon's Bonaparte to distinguish anglo-saxon countries from latin speaking countries i.e. French,Spanish, and Portuguese. Haiti is very much a part of the latin world in language, literature, laws, customs, music, catholicism, holy days, carnival, Mardi gras, school system, down to the metric system where you pump gas in liters not gallons, you drive at km speed not mph, your weigh in kg not pounds etc etc. Haiti and Brazil may not be part of the Hispanic world, but are both part of the latin world, so is Quebec btw.
@444coke310 ай бұрын
@@simonjusticier333 im haitian and i agree with this statement. however we are still not welcomed into the latin community. And the fact that all of a sudden we are "Latin X" sounds disingenuous. I don't speak for Haitians as a whole, but just speaking in terms of Haiti's treatment compared other Afro latino countries.
@9chilidog10 ай бұрын
@@simonjusticier333 it was invented by Chevalier, but that doesn't really matter. The monkier Latin America is commonly used to described the country's from the Spanish and Portuguese empires -including the young lady from Haiti until about 10 minutes before she posted. The island being called Hispaniola doesn't matter, their legacy of from the French empire.

in Spanish, the N word just mean 'black', they use that word every single day, to describe their cars, their clothes, their anything you can imagine. It's pretty impossible to them, not using it. Maybe latinos in US try to be more careful, but rest assured that everyone in the world speaking Spanish use it several times a day
