Been stringing with this since the early 90s. Back when the Kangaroo was their mascot. Nothing has changed in the kit. Simple and gets the job done. ❤

Great video and better than the one from Klipper. Some of your close-up shots that answer my questions. I did my first restring job last night and it turned out good. No more trips to the store and save $$ at the same time. I'm glad I found this video. Thx!

My only question is when you release the string from the drop weight, the clamp seems to drop on its own weight. Doesn't this mean that the string will lose its tension? For example, let's say I wanna string at 22kg. I clamp the string when the drop weight is horizontal. Then, when I release the string from the drop weight, the clamp seems to fall off quite a bit.

Great video, thanks! One question as a beginner, when starting the crosses, is it not necessary to pull tension on the first cross? You can pull tension on the second cross and it does both crosses? I see this a lot but I don’t understand if this is the reasoning.

Great video :) what do you do when you have a much stiffer string and when you pull tension the way you showed it here, the bar always stays above horizontal? Do you have to start with the drop bar below horizontal, wrap the string and then pull tension by ratcheting? Or do you start slightly above horizontal but not as much as in this video? Thanks in advance!

Great video, I’ve dug out my old Klippermate again. An issue I have is when I do the first couple of strings - the metal block/string jaws can’t fold past the handle. Can you recommend a fix? I usually end up having to pull the handle over and out of the way while the string is being pulled and hope it pulls well enough without causing damage.

Question: I noticed a lot of stringers do 3 mains then do the other side. Can you string 1’s main on each side alternately instead of 3? Will there be a negative effect on the racquet?
@racquetology
@racquetology 2 жыл бұрын
The rule is no more then 3 ahead, which is the official standard by the United States Racquet Stringers Association. But alternating every 1 or 2 is fine as well, the rule is just not to go above 3. I personally alternate after every 2 ahead. Hope this helps.

Would you recommend this as a first stringing machine for a beginner? Is the tension accurate?
@racquetology

I am currently working on a video going over all the important details for stringing machines. For the main part yes it’s a good beginner machine, as far as the tension being accurate it has a couple factors that I hope to cover fully in the video. Stay Tuned!

Curious, I used to use a fixed clamp stringer but don’t have the machine anymore. How do the flying clamps stay in place so that the strings do not move when you aren’t tensioning on this?
@richf1182
@richf1182 2 жыл бұрын
The clamp is clamping 2 strings at the same time i.e. 2 adjacent strings.

He said that some people will add 10% tension before the knot, but some won't. Didn't seem to advocate either way, but the key was to be consistent in your choice.

The drop weight isn't parallel. It shouldn't move that much when you unclamp either.

I play both tennis and badminton, can I use this to string both rackets?
@racquetology
@racquetology 3 жыл бұрын
This particular machine is just for tennis and I wouldn't recommend trying to string badminton on it. I would get a Gamma 6 Point Fixed Clamp drop weight machine and call ahead to make sure they provide proper badminton supports, they used to in the past but I would still call to make sure. The universal clamps that come with those models can be a bit troublesome with certain badminton frame models so I would buy a badminton flying clamp and look for a good H adapter load spreader to help protect the smaller badminton racquet. Hope this helps.

Why did you readjust the strings sometimes when making the pulls? I understand that it is so the bar can be level but would that affect the tension? What exactly are you looking for when adjusting those strings?
@racquetology
@racquetology 2 жыл бұрын
I am trying to get the bar horizontal to the ground certain string will stretch more then others and can have the bar far off of my mark. Getting the bar straight will effect the tension applied to the string, so try your best to have the bar straight when stringing.

Perhaps we can have a more full fledged conversation involving some issues that both you and I see in the components of this stringing machine, it could be a good thing for viewers to see problems that can be encountered and how to go about fixing them. I will start it off by saying the most problematic part that I see with this machine is the clamps due to the small spacing; I find string being pull off course from a direct path to the tension mechanism along with twisting of the clamps (when the bar is being brought back up to a neutral position) cause a significant amount of tension loss. More open pattern racquets can really suffer due to the small spacing. I would recommend a change to stringway triple flying clamps that has more versatility and less twisting due to the fact it is anchored to 3 string.
