My first EFI system was the MegaSquirt 3 ECU with MS3X Expansion built it to run my 1972 VW Squareback. It was lots of fun and it was amazing how much it woke up the stock 1600 FI system. The 1600cc engine is tired now and I cant wait till I can build it up and redo the setup. I learned alot about EFI in the process of building it the first time. Great product for sure.

I run my mazda rx7 on an ms2. Super easy to learn and wire up. They offer so much for so many wierd configurations. I'm running itbs as well as a turbo. The ms2 is basically maxed out but I was able to do it all on my own!

I ran the Stinger 4424 back when this megasquirt was coming out. Did not want to deal with megasquirt being so new and unsure. But I might switch over next time I revamp the car

This is exactly what I run in my turbo ls swapped fox and I also have their ls harness. And I paired this stuff with a 12.3 screen from DDEfi and i put it in the factory location.

Megasquirt has always been super big in tuner/euro scenes. Cheapest way to turbo silly stuff in highschool. Seen guys use the same ecu across like 10 cars with their older piggyback stuff.

I run a micro squirt in my twin turbo fox. Even cheaper option for people wanting to go this route. Very small package $300. Basically MS2 with only 2 additional outputs for Flexfuel/2step & fan control. Some times I wish I had the extra outputs to run coil on plugs but I really don’t need to go that far. It does everything I need it to do to get the road scary fast.

Good video! I might upset some people now, but these EMS's from the big brands are way more expensive than they should be. The competition might be slow/low....but there is NO logical reason why these kits costs as much as they do. It's the industry scam these days. Heck, even a simple engine harness can be up to US$ 500.00....insane! This one though, is on the right track and is price-worthy due to the open source software, which in most cases works just as good as and way more flexible than the expensive protected ones. One just needs to know some basics in the area. But these days even open source product are almost bulletproof and has good warranties. If You need one, buy one of these. That'll teach them licensed bloodsuckers a thing or two :)

@@davidmaye3580 I introduced the J&S SafeGuard in 1991. The first aftermarket knock controller to retard individual cylinders. There are a few videos on my channel. J&S is John and Shirley Pizzuto. Cancer took Shirley a few months ago.

@@davidmaye3580 It's been a long time coming. Bosch was first in the mid '80's but that was it for the OEM's for a long time. I designed an analog knock controller in 1984, while I was a technician at Hughes Aircraft. It was for my home brew Turbo 131Fiat sedan. In 1987 I saw a Road & Track magazine article on the Porsche 944 Turbo, which had individual cylinder knock control, working through distributor ignition. I was blown away, had never thought that was even possible. I became obsessed, and had to make one for myself. Hughes laid me off a couple years later, so Shirley and I decided to try to make a business out of it. We showed it to MoTeC USA in '92, I think. We wanted them to buy units or modules, they wanted us to sell them programmed chips. So no deal. They finally came out with their version in 2010. I think GM was still doing global retard in '06. Don't think Ford had it until 2010. The Holley ECU has the capability, but the tech support guy on the YB forum doesn't really recommend it. I think mega squirt had it by 2011 with the knock module and software.

I am all for MS.. I run a pretty modified MS3/3x in my daily. For DBW cars, I have been going with ECU Masters.. I like that Tunerstudio is written in Java too since I use a MacBook. With ECU Masters, I have to run a Windows VM and honestly, it sucks compared to just running on the native OS.

Im considering dropping this in my 2000 A4 1.8t... there isn't a very good tuning for my ATW engine. Something about the drive by wire set up is finicky with tuning stock ECU.

it dose not have peak and hold injector driver. Its high-z or high impedance only natively.

Kyle, you need to check out Speeduino. It has open source hardware and software and tunes with Tuner Studio. Built one for $100 and am using it on my nitrous stroker 383. Rev limiter, boost controller, everything...

Haters gonna hate and many of them have never used one. I agree - MS is overlooked but it is not for the plug and play crowd either - IF you want to have tech support hold your hand and do it all for you, go with the big box boys and stay there. WARNING - you are under their thumb for parts, programming limits, and data logging (all of which the MS is WIDE FREAKING OPEN TO ANYTHING YOU CAN HOOK TO IT). I can configure my "JUNK" MS setup to run ANY part you put on it AND I can get it at any parts store you can name - try that with a big box manufacturer (ask me how I know).... After running an early Edelbrock EFI setup and trying to find parts OR tech support for it after they had put out the next version - I realized that they were not interested in my problem - only my money.... I bought my MS setup wanting to learn and build my own and I will say I accomplished both. I own a MS pro setup and I am very happy with it. The MS support community is also phenomenal.

Not true. And the guy making this claim, who was an ex-employee just trying to hurt us after being fired and having extorted us, lost dearly in court for this false claim. And then had that loss backed up by the appeals court. It never happened. Not even once.
