Raden creates her alter ego Shiratoritei Urushi [Juufuutei Raden]

~TL Notes~ 白鳥亭うるし - Shiratoritei Urushi - First, her last name, 白鳥亭. Compare it with 儒烏風亭. The reason she uses shiratori(white bird) here is because of the 烏, crow/raven, in her name. It also fits their designs, Raden wears gothic lolita clothes and Urushi wears sweet lolita clothes. Urushi(漆) - This is a type of natural lacquer made from the resin of the Urushi(tree). They are used in a lot of stuff, but a common one is lacquer decor and house/kitchenware. Especially those really common black outside, red inside rice or miso soup bowls. (Not all rice bowls of that pattern are lacquer, but they are made to look like them) This is why Urushi's eyes are black and red. (Lacquer-ware made from urushi is called shikki 漆器) 1:14 - Herbaria are normally just those pressed, dried plant specimens that are used for study, but in Japan what they call "herbarium" are dried flowers inside of a bottle filled with oil that they display as home decor. I called them "bottled herbarium" in my subs to differentiate and also since it feels similar to "bottled water" since Urushi drinks them. (If I needed space I left out the "bottled" part once or twice though) ****Also, to cover my own butt. Do NOT drink herbaria.**** 3:09 - FPS game ranks according to Raden(Highest to lowest): Picture Scroll Bronze Mirror Metal Sprinkled Lacquer Decor (Makie, the name of the mystery 3rd personality btw) Shell Heap All the ranks are some kind of object that has cultural significance aside from the lowest rank. Also, depending on the type of Makie, it could be higher than Bronze Mirror maybe? Like if it was sprinkled in gold dust? I assume it's supposed to be lower though. 4:18 - Her Cézanne bit will never not make me laugh. 4:31 - This kinda conflicts with the hermit lifestyle, but she's spitballing so we'll let it slide. 4:56 - There's a substance in urushi resin(urushiol) that irritates the skin in its liquid form. 5:07 - This is from a TV program called Shoten that featured professional Rakugo storytellers. A host will ask a question and if the answers are funny or witty, the storyteller is awarded 1 floor pillow 5:35 - This was a happy accident on her part. It was already established that she drank bottled herbaria. So, when she came up with the nickname "Cinna Cinna/shinashina" Urushi, it fit in perfectly to her resorting to and finding a taste for bottled herbaria. 6:26 - She *might've* said something like "This might be too slow" but there are some extra syllables in there that I don't know what to do with and Japanese subbers didn't seem to know what she said either. Edit: Kaliflowers pointed out that it sounded like osakanatokasukikamo, I like fish and stuff I guess. 6:49 - Oilfish/baramutsu - Could be wordplay since it shares some sounds with herbarium in the Japanese pronunciation. Eating it is also a bad idea. 8:33 - The Hannya mask is a type of Noh mask that represents the spirit of a vengeful female demon. Fits the yandere trope Shiratoritei Urushi - Cuter voice than Raden - Not as articulate - Favorite drink - Herbarium (Do not drink) - Favorite food - Oilfish (Do not eat) - Does not drink or smoke (I don't think gambling was addressed) - Hikikomori - FPS player (But isn't good) - Uses voice chat - Yandere - Likes Cinnamoroll - Grandpa's girl - Wears diapers - Ponytail, inverted Raden colors(So mostly light) and bangs that look like a rake - Heterochromia, left black, right red (fake, uses contacts) - 159cm tall(same as Raden) - Outfit: Pastel sweet lolita with a floral pattern and a white base, Hannya Noh mask My longest TL Notes maybe? I love "radiant garbage" and "prim and proper darkness" Urushi seems like the kind of person who talks her way into getting free stuff from higher rank players in FPS games but refuses to talk to anyone lower rank than her and immediately discards the people who helped her once she surpasses them lmao.
