More history lessons in the form of a translation note! 'cause why not, you're watching a Raden clip already: 2:37 As you may know, Raden likes to reference pachinko games for her transitions. Here she is referencing a song from Mahjong Monogatari 2, which you can see in action here kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6Sxo62Xiamibqs. (It's written by ARM of IOSYS, who you may recognize as the group behind many infamous Touhou remixes and Marine's Ahoy song.) The line itself is a joke based on an episode in Chinese history, where a Han dynasty official Yang Zhen refused a bribe from another, saying "Why would you say nobody will know? Heaven knows, Earth knows, I know, and you know!" It gave rise to a famous Japanese proverb "Ten shiru, chi shiru, ware shiru, nanji shiru" (天知る地知る我知る子知る) that roughly means "God sees all", which is parodied here with the also-rhyming "miso shiru" (miso soup).

Thanks for adding that context! Radens humor is very quirky but funny once you get it. Could not have gotten it with out your hard work!

Raden is actually my favorite hololive member now. Hands down. Never would I have imagined that my three disparate passions, vtubers, art history and criticism, and photography, would align in one vtuber.

It's always nice to see vtubers showcasing their skills and talent in their streams. Not only do we have singers, dancers, instrumentalists, artists, voice actors/actresses, but now we also have photographers! That's awesome!

She didn’t mention it in the video, but I wanted to point out to anyone who doesn’t know photography that what she means by a “twin lens reflex” or TLR is not a digital camera. It is a 6x6 film camera with two twin lenses. The 6x6 camera is a medium format film camera, and it shoots on 120 film. Since she references this she’s likely shooting on a film camera that uses 135 film (35mm). “But the photo is so sharp!” Using lower ISO film produces finer grain photos. Throw in a super fast high quality lens and you can get photos with more detail than digital cameras. :)

I'm impressed, as usual. My brother was an art and model photographer at one point. He studied Mapplethorpe, so the use of black and white and stark contrast did figure into some of my still life photos at one point. Plus, I've always liked tack sharp photos. I wonder if Raden has photographed male or female subjects.

I'm glad Raden is doing these arts-focused streams, and I'd love to see more translations of them.

She reminds me of college friends who took interior design, architecture, or graphic design major. They really enjoy this kind of things. Comparing arts, pictures, photos and talking about styles.

I keep watching clips of Raden, I honestly think it's the first time I've seen someone who seriously loves art, and as the art nerd that I am, I love it! (in irl I've only met one person who loves art like that)

My mind cannot comprehend that this chaotic kusogaki is actually an expert art curator, professional photographer and museum hobbyist. But then again, Holomems defies the world logics constantly.

I'd never thought that I'll ever see a vtuber talk about photography and knows Robert Mapplethorpe's works. She's certainly piqued my interest in her.

no wonder she's smoking😂, idk if its stereotype or not, but most photographer that i meet either outside or inside my social life are always someone who did smoke

I thought she quit as AKi hates smokers, and she's probably cut down on her drinking a bit (all the Holomem are drinkers, but she is considered a drinker amongst the Japanese, meaning she drinks a lot

I really like black and white photography too. Especially if you use traditional film, it challenges the photographer to predict what the photo will look like. It can bring out a lot of interesting things like shapes you don't think too much about in daily life.

There is no challenge here, she is clearly using a flash with a modeling light and at a small aperture. She knows what she is doing.

Lol. You're putting words on Raden's mouth and making her look like a snobbish person. On MariFubu's confession stream, Raden admitted that she has quit smoking for 2 months already since she wants to preserve her voice. She also admitted that because official museum accounts follow her now, she is a bit worried on not being able to maintain her arts-focused brand of vtubing and said she also wanted to do stupid, childish stuff on streams together with other holomems, like chugging down cola and burping out loud. She's worried that if she does that, she'll lose out collab opportunities from museums and related facilities and fans like you who put her on a pedestal would turn against her.

Wish they had one like this but instead for history lol Although not sure how that'd be from a JP perspective, perhaps a focus purely on japanese history instead of global would work.
