Thanks so much for answering all my dumb questions via email. You didn’t have to go out of your way to do it, but you did! Nice talking to you

I’ve got a Ds1 in my ExplorerST. Going on a month. It’s got most of my daily auto lockouts marked and silenced. I love the mount location. That’s pretty slick. I bet you would notice a sizable difference in performance using the included power cable (following the manufacturer’s instructions on their webpage). And using the screw mount getting it away from that much stronger magnetic mount. I love the placement. I wanna do it. But in another Radar community there’s talk of and when the iOS app drops you can flip the display if the mount placement would make it upside down otherwise. (Like on a motorcycle) 🤙

The DS1 is a good value for the money! So far, it has been working really well and detecting from a distance!

Hi there, just want to double check the ds1 radenso ds1 radar detector frequencies specs checked on Amazon it say ds1 has gasto frequency ,but on another part, never mentioned I’m located in Australia I just want to be sure if this be right to use here and doublecheck if it’s got gasto thanks

Nice video. FYI, they make a magnetic quick connect for usb c, so you don’t have to plug and unplug all the time. It’s like MagSafe for Mac laptops.
@garrick_ish Жыл бұрын
Yes i did see that type of plug. I probably going to upgrade in the near future! Since my front windows and windshield is tinted, there was no need to take off the radar detector.

I’ve done this with som not 40$ mounts and they last about 6months before the stick in Tesla screen wears out. Using separate 3m and adhesive promoter got me about 7mths vs 6 without. I think the screen back is just to porous of a metal possibly or just hot sun wrecks it. YMMV but I’m on my second mount that cost 14$ and get a 2yr extension from Amazon and just keep getting new ones every 6mths is my experience

One final set of questions: 1. What length cable would you recommend for the Model Y? 2. Do you still recommend the Beken cigarette charge? 3. Have you had any slippage with the ring magnet? 4. And fjnally, have you had any issues with the Tesla windows and the detector. Note: I purchased the same radar detector and mount based on your video. Thank you again.
@garrick_ish Жыл бұрын
@markroath98 1. 6ft to 9ft is good to use 2. Yes, you can use Belkin as a charger 3. Magnet is super strong, Its actually hard to take off at times =) 4. No issues with the detecter at that spot. Be sure to google Radenso DS1 Settings for (your State). This will give you the most optimal setting. Works perfectly!

Cool but I've seen multiple tests done by Vortex Radar who recommends mounting higher on windshield for better detection, especially on elevation changes of terrain

Nice! Not really. My windshield is tinted and it has been helping

Run into any issues with it overheating? Putting the metal plate on the bottom covers most of the ventilation holes. Love the idea just concerned it might not as long.
@garrick_ish Жыл бұрын
No Issues so far. Just went on a road trip from NJ to Montreal last week and it was a 7 hour drive. Worked perfectly fine.
@Phillipnoogen Жыл бұрын
My Radeon r4 overheats like crazy on it. So I just use the glass mount instead.
@jmo79385 ай бұрын
Yeah I've tried with this Radenso and also Uniden using MagSafe holder and flat metal plates. Both times it gets too hot and the metal plates come off of the radar detector. Currently I've gone back to window mount but would love to see option that stays on the detector better

Any benefit of this over the mirror mount up top?
@garrick_ish3 ай бұрын
All about preference. Depends if you want to run the wires through the A pillar and headliner.
@ceeIoc3 ай бұрын
@@garrick_ish Thanks, I've decided to do this same setup with a Uniden R7 which only comes with the bungee power cord. I assume I need to buy a regular power cord so I can hide the wires? In the new Model 3, the cig outlet is in the front compartment so not very far.

Hi would this be legal to use in Illinois as the mountjng position behind infotainment I have a 2022 Mazda with a infotainment like yours if I can not sure if Illinois Law allows this since it will be kinda blocking view
@garrick_ish4 ай бұрын
To be honest, I wouldn’t know. But I don’t think it would be a problem. People have been hanging crap around the review mirror for years and don’t get pulled over
@allmedia234 ай бұрын
I want to connect it like you but not sure if that is obstruction view if it works why not have you got pulled over for it being there and tne Clarence with the morrow on top?
@allmedia234 ай бұрын
Today a cop saw my detector mounted on window halfway down but kept going not sure if that was bad but. Not sure if he thought it was obstruction of view so not sure what to do whether I should put on mirrow or your way which is more cool
@cooluser23 Жыл бұрын
Why did you mount it so low and not above rvm?
@garrick_ish Жыл бұрын
The biggest issue is there is no mount for Tesla Model Y without modification. Plus the detector is in direct eye sight mounted on the top of the screen.

With that setup, is the radar always on? You have to manually turn on and off? It does not auto turn off when you leave the car?
@garrick_ish Жыл бұрын
Originally I would turn it off when manually but it does turn off automatically when I get home when my car goes to sleep. But when the car goes into Sentry Mode, the Radar will stay on. So what I have done was reran the wire into the center console and have a USB Hub with on and off switches. Check out this video I made using this hub. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6q6c2iaq8itnNk Please let me know if you have any questions.

@garrick_ish Жыл бұрын
Works really well! Yes it did pick up and love the auto lockout
@KrispyGod7 ай бұрын
As cool as this may look, don't do this. This is ridiculous, I mean that's your center console... Why would you in anyway place a suction cup or especially an adhesive on it. The risk factor alone in removing that is too much. I find it perfect placing it on top, where your top window is located.
@TheSchwiz5 ай бұрын
Completely disagree. I’ve done this exact mounting setup for almost a year and it’s fantastic. I don’t need to worry about removing it. It will fold into itself and be hidden
@dathyr1 Жыл бұрын
So why would I need a radar detector. Are you planning to evade the police for something???? Don't need one, thank you.
@garrick_ish Жыл бұрын
Not evading police, this radar detector can detect a police car miles ahead which allows me to slow down before its too late. This has helped me plenty of times from getting a speeding ticket. This is not for everyone, but if you like driving fast, its not a bad idea to get one.
@erichchan3 Жыл бұрын
@dathyr1 Seriously dude? Evading police? I guess you never have driven over the speed limit on a road trip where you can run into speed traps.
