Samsung Studio! FREE Video Editor Included with One UI 6

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing great! Quick update, 1/15/2024: I've found out that Studio is currently only compatible with these devices, but more devices should be getting added soon - S22 line, S23 line, Tab S8 line and the Tab S9 tablets. It looks like the foldables and other devices running One UI 6 don't support it yet. If you're device supports it and I haven't listed it here, please let me know. Thank you so much.

Thanks for this! You just nailed what I was looking for (adding the title to the front of the video which doesn't exist unless you access it in the Studio app vs simply through the camera gallery app - I'll never understand why Samsung chooses to limit actions there). It would be great if they allowed you to extend the time of the title frame as well. I will look into that next. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for stopping by, and my apologies for the slow reply. I've been away for a couple of eye surgeries. When you open up a new project or an existing one, there will be 3 dots in the right hand corner. Tap on them, and there will be a Settings option. Once that opens, you can change the aspect ratio. This is only available once you a project open though, not on the main screen settings.

@RADERTECH Thanks. I figured out the aspect ratios. My other, bigger complaint is this: when I save a movie, my video clips taken in 3840x2160 UHD get downgraded to 1920x1080 FHD. (The previous editor kept the UHD quality.) I see no way to change this, so I purchased a different video editing app called "InShot" that is letting me continue making movies in 4K.

Thanks for the overview. Definitely looking forward to getting this. I wish it had an option to export a GIF. I haven't really found a great GIF maker, although wouldnt be surprised if it was already on the phone and i just haven't stumbled across it.

You're welcome, thanks for stopping by. You actually already have quite a few options for making gifs right on the galaxy phone, no other apps required. You can make them from videos, your own animated gifs that can be shared, there's quite a few ways of doing it too. I just did a quick google search for "how to make gifs on samsung galaxy device" and got back quite a few results. That's not a bad video idea :)

Пытаюсь подбирать музыку но вставляя ее в начале очередного сюжета музыка применяется ко всему видеоотчету с самого начала и при этом удаляет предыдущую подобранную для ранее вставленных роликов. No, you can't do any of the cool stuff like that, it's very limited in what it can do. I'd recommend a more feature packed editor for voice over work and stuff like that. This is more of a "home" movie type editor, very bare bones.

Thanks for stopping by. That's a really great question. Unfortanetly, I don't there's anything you can do on the audio side for the transitions, it's a bit limited in this area.

How do I move the saved movie from my internal storage to KZbin?

You'll need to be signed in to KZbin with your account (not guest), and then there will an upload icon towards the top right corner, next to where your name is and where you can search from. It will prompt you for the file location when you upload, and that's about it really. Just give it a Title and brief description, and then youtube will let you know when it's done processing. You'll then select Publish on the last page, and then it's ready for everyone to see. Thanks for stopping by.

Moreover and yet it practically still doesn't make built-in apps like video player any better even with UI tweaks due to lack of speed multiplier or any more detailed & advanced feature that A7 already had. I do hope the upcoming update will solve this alongside enabling the Samsung Studio too

@noyoucantnoicantnowecantsostop i guess the issue that i found on the samsung a14 is that the samsung kind of like have a slow updates for the phone to keep it up from the other models, but still overall a good phone. i just need the big update where the other models of samsung have but for the samsung a14 do not have, just like the built-in equalizer on phone (in dolby atmos section)

I have the note 20 ultra, and I would guess that it all works the same, but does anyone know where the built in background music is located on the phone? As in what folder the actual files are in. Would love to use some of them for other things, and be able to check them all out, outside the editor, but it seems like they are either downloaded from the internet, only when you use them in the photo/video editor, or file access is hidden/blocked. Because I cant seem to find those music files anywhere.

Thanks for stopping by! On your Note 20 Ultra, you should have a default app called My Files. Open that up, and there should be a category on the main screen called Adio Files. It will contain all of your system audio files, and should show all of the audio files you downloaded over the years. This is where I go when I want to get to them quickly. From there, you can look at the file's properties to see the exact folder locations. Hope this helps.

@RADERTECH They definitely aren't there. Just some voice recordings from my Samsung watch and thousandsof music tracks on my sd card. All downloads go to the download folder. If it's music I download, it gets transferred to my SD card lol. The only stock music that shows up is the 2 "over the horizon" tracks that samsung puts on every phone. Not even the default ringtones show up. So pretty sure samsung blocked user access to these.

I'm sorry, but I doubt if this free tool lets you get that granular. You'll likely want to use a more robust app for editing at this level.

Anyone know where I can get help with this app? I tried editing a video of my daughter, and I didn't know 'save video' overwrote the original video. I tried to go back, and the whole thing disappeared. It's not in the recycle bin, it's not in any folder I can find, and it's not showing up as a My Movie file - and I'm crushed that I potentially lost this entire video.

Sorry for the slow reply. Open up the My Files app, and pick Videos. Then to the top right, change the sort order to by date in descending order. The outputed video files that Studio generates will be in this list, but it might take you a while to track it down. This happened to me a couple times, and this was the only way to track them down, as I couldn't find them anywhere in the Gallery app. Hope this helps.

Thanks for stopping by. Try this please. Load up those 60 pics into a new project, and press Done to finish up the project. Now go back to the home screen of the Studio app and re-open the project. You should now be on a screen that shows a pic of project up top, and Save Movie and Delete at the bottom. In the top right corner of that screen, there's a 3 dot menu. In that menu, tap Size and format. When that screen opens up, make sure it's at atleast FHD resolution and now trying changing the Video Codec from whatever it's set it to, to the other option. There's only 2. Then once you're back on the other screen, try the Save movie option again. If you already put a lot of work into that existing project, you can still change those above settings without starting fresh. Just figured I'd walk you through it all. I may not see your eply, but if you still need help, please drop a new comment and it will show up right up top in my youtube studio app. I'm happy to help you further.

Once in Studio, go into settings (the three lines) and the first option is 'Show Studio on Apps screen'. Select that and then Studio will appear with all your other apps, no need to go through Gallery 😉

Thank you so much, I'm glad this was helpful. Yes, you sure can, and that's one part I wish I would have included that I completely skipped. When you have project open a clips added to the timeline, just tap on the clip where you'd like to place the cut, or would like to trim from. There will be a little pop-up menu that has 3 options for all of this. One trims from the left, one trims from the right, and the middle option will let you put in a cut, that way you can remove the trailing or leading clips. Sorry for not showing it here, I'm kicking myself for not remembering to show it - I even had it written down in my notes to show, and skipped right past it, lol.

Hmm, that's interesting. One thing you could try is opening up the Studio Settings, About Studio, then tap on the little "i" icon towards to the top right. Then go down to Storage, and clear cache and data. But, please keep in mind that this will likely clear out all of your existing projects.

Only problem with that editor is. You cannot edit pieces of the video out. It's only the full length that you can adjust. So no cutting out a section you don't want.

Absolutely, pretty soon. I'm about to have 2 eye surgeries, so I'm not sure of the timing yet. I use mainly photos and often have problem as some pics are portrait and others are landscape pics...so often I have to delete pics I wanna include because they don't all fit into one "project size". Personally, I thought the previous version was so easy to use. I am so frustrated with the MOVIE STUDIO update...I made lots of great videos but stopped after the update. It is so tedious. You can pick between portrait and landscape for the entire project, but I don't think you can change the aspect ratio of individual clips or pics.

Oh my goodness, I just realized I forgot how to show how to do cuts in this video - I'm so sorry, I totally meant to. Yes, you can easily add cuts by tapping on the middle icon that pops up when you tap on a track. You'll have a left arrow option for trimming everything to the left, a right arrow for everything to the right, and an icon in the middle of the arrows to put a cut right in that spot. I'm sorry for not showing that. For text and other objects, you can just tap on them on the timeline, and hit the delete icon that pops up.

Does anyone else notice editing any video with Samsung editor won't output the same quality? It's as if the videos become jerky losing frames. I'm using a Galaxy A53 but I've seen users with higher-end models noting the same issue.

You're most likely exporting to HVEC, which the A53 will struggle with. Once you open a project, select the 3 dot menu and select Size and Format. At the bottom, you'll have the option to switch from HVEC to H.264. That should help a lot. Thanks for stopping by.

@RADERTECH Thanks. I already tried that; it defaults to AAC. I also experimented with HEVC, but I got the same result. While most people probably don't notice the quality degradation, I do. Simply take a video of the scenery and pan back and forth for about 7 seconds. When you play it back, it will be perfectly smooth. However, if you edit the video in any way with the built-in Samsung video editor and save it as a copy, you'll notice a difference. Compare both versions, and you'll see what I mean. This is a known issue, with S24 users also complaining about it. I have filed a bug report with Samsung.

Sorry for the slow reply. I've had this happen a couple of times. I think what I did to resolve it was to go into the "Size and Format" options once you have the project open (in the 3 dot menu, top right), and change the video codec and then try exporting it again.

Where the hell does it save them? Studio isn't even listed in the Samsung app settings. I've edited one video prior to this one and the app has used 80MB of mobile data. This is a Fi phone and I pay for mobile data. The thing was running commercials on Waze. I never once saw a commercial when using mobile data on Fi. No recent anywhere in my Gallery, but there is a photo album with the cover for every music album I've ever stored on the non expandable memory. I pulled the sim and put it in my 4 year old Moto G because I couldn't find a ROM to run stock Android. Couldn't cast music to my Chromecast Audios and Smart View couldn't even find my Samsung TVs or Chromecast what a POS

I'm not sure if there's a "direct record" button right in Studio, I haven't seen one anyways. I'd just start a new screen recording and enable the "record media" option while playing back the video in Studio. Then once done, you can just drop that file in and use the audio only. Or record with the voice recorder while keeping the playback volume for Studio low. I know, a couple hacks, but I think they'd end up working out.
