I cannot tell you how deeply I have been touched by Toad over the years, and have been privileged to find a measure of sanctuary in their music. Heartfelt thanks to each band member, including Randy Guss… a gentle spirit who spent a generous amount of his time to speak with me and my wife years ago at Casino Rama, Orillia, Ontario. Blessings to you all.

I was born in 1977, came to musical life in 1991. Started playing guitar and jamming to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and STP in 1993 and pulled from these bands when I wanted to be cool. But when I was alone in my bedroom jamming out solo, I was playing Toad. Uri geller spoons and the Nightingale song were my private jams. And when my HS girlfriend broke up with me in 1994, I listened to Something's Always Wrong 1000 times. These guys rule. But don't tell anyone I said that.

Dulcinea is perhaps in my top ten of album releases and I go back to the late 1960's, so yeah, it's that good. It is on my desert island must have list right there with Dark Side of the Moon, among others. What always inspired me as a songwriter myself, is the effortless ability of Glenn Phillips to string a perfect melody over a song-scape created by only 5 musicians--And pull it off live beautifully. They created music that song to song you know exactly who is performing from the first bar.. which is a feat only the greatest ever achieve. There is effectively a "Toad" sound & feel that is like an old friend. And whenever you hear it, you crank it up, step on the gas and ride on in your own personal journey taking them with you. So, I also give props to I think the most underrated bassist in the game. The bass lines are insanely perfectly written and performed and mean so much to the final composition, not unlike, say, a Jimmy Page approach to creating the perfect bottom line. Yes, I am comparing Dean Dinning to none other than John Paul Jones and I think that is more than responsible. If you go back and watch the video of TTWS in 1988 the drummer Randy Guss is already displaying fantastic drumming skills and spot on, nearly perfect concepts for each song, treating each with dignity, restraint, dynamics and explosiveness when it the song is at it's sonic peak. I think he is legendary, like as important as Ringo was for his famous band of brothers. His approach to laying it down coupled with Dinning's insanely perfect basslines equals songs that we will be listening to and talking about for centuries, not just years...And I have to give it up for Todd Nichols ability to set the mood and weave very creative sonics to fuel and marry Glenn Phillips's performances into the major gravity shifting forces that they are. Harmonies are lush & rich and not there for just proof of talent, but there to enlarge the songs on a huge scale. And lastly, you got to love those slide lines played by Johnathan Kingham, talk about atmosphere, this guy's work is incredible and rides right on the smooth lanes that Nichols lays down. I guess you could say I am a fan. If you read this far you are one too.

I love what he says at 12:17. I live in Salt Lake but found myself in Dallas for work the same weekend as a fav band of mine. They were playing at a club in Deep Ellum and I, as a big ol' Deadhead, was so stoked to be in Deep Ellum (minus the blues). It reminded me of the time I was "halfway between Eerie and Pittsburgh," lyrics from a Phish song called Bittersweet Motel, te-hehe. Find joy in the little things, friends!

I have a couple of their early albums which I go back and listen ANEW. And, after each listen, I'm like you, WOW these guys were really good, but with only a modicum of commercial success(but I don't think that matters to them). My local FM station actually played one of their songs recently, so there's at least a few more fans like us out there. Their stuff is complex, pretty with good songwriting and good musicians

ok here me out...I grew up in 90's and knew of Good Intentions and All I want. They were fun songs for radio and I liked them, but never thought about the band once then or since. Now, just weeks ago I rediscovered the band and I must say although I sorta hate their Band name, not into singer being barefoot all the time and think singer needs a beard or longer hair and I hate that Nightgale Song with a passion...all the other songs listed in this setlist I have had on repeat the last couple weeks...I can't believe they have so many good songs, well done. My current fav's are I will not take these things for granted, California Wasted and The Moment

Seriously well played gig! Poorly filmed or at least edited. Here are my tips for doing a bad job of filming: 1) Focus first on the one guy not in the band 2) Whenever there is a solo try to focus on the member least involved. It will help if you don't understand music or any level a live performance. You got this! 3) remember you are the artist, not the the band! 4) Tell your mom all about how well you did!
