The deforester breaks all blocks when there is no more "base logs" on the bottom. You can have a big forest like he did. Put a wood block where grass is and break that block alone to fell the trees

When getting glow stone use sand so it falls and exposed more glow stone to shoot

In that case, you'd want to use gravel, which can be obtained by crushing stone. It's just easier to get in my opinion, especially if he built an OP stone generator like tango

It's a fun mod, you should definitely give it a try. So far I managed to automate the stripping of wooden logs, which isn't much, but for me creativity is a slow process.

Would, perhaps, your tree farm be more efficient if you lengthened the timer by a couple more seconds? Because yes, it may waste an extra four seconds, but it would allow it to cut down a new tree every extension, instead of it reextending too early and looping for another fourteen seconds before the tree is fully grown and able to be cut down.

Oh i think the big advantage of the deforester is that it can do what the saw does, but you can enchant it to have fortune or silk touch. I think it didn't work because the trees were close together, and that might've run into some build protections, so you don't accidentally destroy your base!

If you would run a powered redstonesignal into the sapling you could detect when the tree grows because the block gets powered, too and with that signal you could power your mecanism. It would be more efficient and more lag friendly.

For the tree farm, wouldn’t it make more sense to have the saw be sent out only after the tree has grown? Like using some type of observer? I think it would take less red stone, and you wouldn’t need to worry about timings or anything.

One way to detect a grown tree is to point a powered repeater to its base. When the tree grows, the block becomes solid and will transmit power to adjacent redstone lines.

hey Zed! I have a large scale Idea for you that I think you should make: A Train! I built it in my minecraft world and It's so fun to ride in! You could use it to carry resources around in different carts like a resource cart, a liquid cart, and animal cart, etc. Or you could even make something else, like a plane, or an airship, or somehing mortal engines style like a walking spider. The possibilities with this mod are limitless!

The axe will instamine the whole tree if you break the block at the bottom, in my testing it did. I think the problem was that the trees was close toghether and not spread apart

That axe did seem a bit disappointing. I looked it up and it seems if you destroy the bottom block of a tree it will act like the mechanical saw does. Although actually building a contraption with a mechanical saw is obviously better for your long-term wood supply requirements.

its very disappointing, you can just take a saw and a hand crank to cut trees down... and like even at that stage of the game its a much better idea to make a small auto wood farm than to waste materials on it

Hey Zed, I had an idea for your tree chopper: What if you add the same system on the opposite side of the tree pointing into it, but have it where when one saw blade piston is extended the other is retracted and that way there is always a saw chopping the tree at any given point, as they do a in and out kind of motion. Rather than waiting every second motion for it to chop. Love the series so far :D

Hey Zedaph! If you use the block zapper by Replacing blocks with tnt and then replace the block next to the TNT with Redstone, you will have essentially turned the block zapper into a TNT cannon!

That doesn't actually effect cutting speed. Mechanical pistons don't take much power. The temporal bottle neck is the tree anyway.

Dear Zedapp, I would like you to give the ax one more try. Plant a tree bone meal in and smack the base melee style. You'll notice that the trees cut down with the ax need to be completely separated for the ax to work. It's also goes for a row of trees as you take out all but the last block on the bottom row of trees and you break the last bottom brick with the ax.

Hey Zedaph! There's a more efficient tree farm you can make, by placing a mechanical bearing + Radial chassis, some mechanical saws and deployers on the back (pointed to the ground, make sure they can place sapplings), basically put filters on the deployers for sappling, and, when you start the machine, the machine will stop on any tree it finds and wait until the mechanical saw finishes the job, basically making it a loop, and it's very quick too. There's no need for bone meal as you can scale the farm up pretty easily.

The bone meal hand feels redundant when dispensers already perform that function for free! Also, you can detect the growth and destruction of a tree by trying to send a redstone signal through its space - it'll conduct if there's a solid block there, and not conduct if there isn't. As a bonus, this would also help prevent unnecessary particles, by keeping the Bone Meal dispenser powered for as long as the tree is present. I feel like Create is a great mod because of how its systems let you create a unique build the same way Vanilla redstone does, but it's important that you remember to *combine* the two instead of using one over the other.

you can dig a massive hole down to bedrock by setting the gun to ignore mat' type, replace, and have the block as a ground torch, and just keep replacing the middle block and it will break the prev' layer of torches and you can dig like that, also works with rails, but that cost a bit of iron or at least a rail duper, and still, it takes a bit to mine rails without enchants, and torches are instamined, so i think torches are the way to go with digging down

1) Deforester works like the saw, you have yo break the bottom block so you would have to break every one of those bottom blocks for it to work in that tree line 2) If you look at Tango's Kelp Farm setup you can do the exact same for a tree farm with some minor tweaks - Harvesters need to be saws and you need to add filtered deployers for the saplings to be placed behind the saws aka make a 3 chassis high rectangle. Side A has saws on the bottom, Side B has deployers on top

Zedaph, to use the deforester you have to remove any wood blocks that are connected to the ground, you could potentially then attach this to a deployer to use instead of the saw

the deforestor works similarly to the sawmill you used for the farm in the sense that it has to be a one block tree and it chops the whole thing down. if it is spruce, you chop three round the bottom then it breaks the whole tree

You can totally run a redstone signal through the block space the sapling is in into the clutch. That way as soon as the tree grows, its a solid block, allowing the redstone signal to pass through and active the saw. Once the log breaks itll break the signal chain and turn off the saw

for the block replacer, can you replace with torches? Usually the torches will immediately fall because they are placed on other torches, so it instantly clears the area you just "mined". If they don't fall, you should still be able to see through them to get more resources.

I'll start by saying that I got really inspired by your and Tango's videos, and I started my own Create survival gameplay, so thank you for that. Now for the fun part: you can use the blockzapper to clear out large spaces fast by copying a torch (facing you from the wall) and pasting it in the 7x7 wall repeatadly.

The Handheld Blockzapper is extremely useful but also dangerous! I was using it to convert a mushroom island from mycelium to grass, which it does extremely well, but I used it with the Wand of Symmetry active, and accidentally created several spawnable platforms of dirt over the ocean. It could have been the end of the village I had started there.

For the deforester, you have to mine all the wood blocks on the bottom first and then everything will break, just like the saw! The issue was that all the tree were lined up and touching so it counted as one big tree lol

Hey Zed, I'm new ish to the create mod but I found a pretty cool tree harvester, make a spining machine using a windmill and a couple of blocck placers and saws and it spins and cuts down the trees as they grow naturally

Instead of a timer, you could put a redstone block on one side of the tree and take a comparator output from the other. That would make it so that it activates whenever a tree grows and stays activated until the tree is chopped down.
