$58 for ONE bra is ridiculous. It's not as if having cancer isn't expensive enough. I just finished my 20 treatments. I used the prescribed cream, and have almost no side effects. There's a little discoloration with slight itching maybe once a day. For me, this was a snap, and because my oncotype score is low, I don't need chemo. I really lucked out.

Get the Velcro white bra on Amazon. Driving in the car ride home will be a bit rough so also buy a mastectomy pillow to put your arms over to top of the pillow to stop movement, I got the pink one and it has little pockets on it. The pregnancy pillow is my best fren for sleeping. I believe the key to healing is to not do things except get up every now & then to walk around the house. Drink tons of water to heal the skin & ginger ale for ache. Eat easy to digest meals and load up on iron & magnesium like steak, broccoli & salad the day before surgery for vitamins. The radiation is much later so you’ll be healing for weeks before it. I’m currently healing now.

I'm a master's swimmer and it's my main go to exercise and plays a big role in my mental health. I found being out of the pool after biopsies and surgeries hard. Will I have to avoid the pool during radiation. My skin reacts to the sun when I cycle so I have to cover up completely. I gets raised red painful skin. I wonder if I will be at risk for a similar reaction to the radiation. Thank you for these informative videos 🤓
@katiedemingmd22262 жыл бұрын
I tell my patients it is fine to swim during radiation as long as they shower afterward and apply cream to their skin. Although, you should consult with your doctor. Interestingly, the skin does NOT react the same way to radiation as it does to the sun. The worse skin reaction is not seen in patients who are sensitive to the sun. It is actually seen in women with darker skin. Of course, you should ask your doctor since I don't know everything about your medical history.

Interesting. I have never heard that. I would ask why? Is it to keep the marks on your skin? If that is the reason, you can turn your back to the water and just let it run down your back and use a washcloth to cleanse your breast without wiping off the marks. I can't think of another reason why they wouldn't let you shower every day. I'm curious if you get an answer, let me know what they said :).
