Radiator and A/C fan turns ON as soon as the car is turned on

In this video I show how to fix a radiator and a/c fan that turns on as soon as you turned the car on.

We really liked this video because you were able to diagnose this problem without using ANY kind of diagnostic equipment. You used common sense and was able to not only fix the problem, but tell everyone how to find out which fan goes to what, and you did that without even having a wiring diagram. Dude one is called the Fan Switch Sensor which monitors the temp of the coolant to turn on the rad fan when it reaches a set temp while the other is called the Coolant Temp Sensor which also monitors the coolant and sends the temp reading to the ECU of your car, then the ECU makes calculations so the engine gets the right mix ratio of fuel and air!.

I myself would put it on the on position. I wouldn't touch any running components.

So the coolant temp sensor is not the sensor that sends info the computer? There is another thing called sender? I have the same issue where the radiator fan is on full speed at start, but when I read the coolant temp with OBD II scanner , its correct and where it should be.

@@kio51423 Vw has one fan. It will turn whenever AC is turned on, even if engine is cold. AC will turn on when cabin control is set to auto.

Uh Lincoln Town car kinda the same issue fan turns on when you hit the key but it's intermittent Sometimes it doesn't come on and sometimes it does but the heater never changes always blows mild air

And one more tip. Both fans should always run if you turn on the air conditioner or if the engine is hot. If only one fan is running, then your air conditioner will not blow enough cold air and the engine will not cool down enough.

​@@kevinhancock4064 If the evaporator freezes, the fans turn off, and when the evaporator melts all the ice on it, the fans turn on. If the evaporator were to freeze completely, that ice on it would prevent airflow

@@kevinhancock4064 They are turned off if the evaporator freezes, to allow the evaporator to heat up and melt the ice. When the evaporator has melted the ice off itself, the fans turn on to keep the air conditioner blowing cold air.

i drive a 2002 toyota sienna buy oem there are two ect switch aka engine coolant temperature switch ask the dealer or look it up; then you can start ruling out fuses or relays or wiring. if everything you check is good but the etc switches and you buy the wrong ones fans will stay on even if you buy same make but not the correct model and year. again ask the dealer and make sure it correct. aftermarkets are no good they just make and put any toyota part number made in china. toyota etc switches are made in japan, denso..i learned never buy aftermarket etc sensors. autozone list only two denso models for all toyotas but might not might work for your vehicle. same price as dealer because there oem but are they for your model you will be screwed once installed you can't return.

@@NoneMechanic101 i have a 2010 Hyundai Tucson it started with the fan not coming on at all the car did not run hot or no engine light so i changed pressure temperature switch (H) side and fan came on soon as i started car and didn't go off until i turned the car off i changed 2 relays nothing changed so i changed the coolant temperature sensor same thing do i need to check the fan module or switch? i'm trying to fix this car so my kids can drive it when the come home thank you for any suggestions
