Radiator on a 2011 Mazda CX-7

Ben need your help. Got a 2009 model. Trying to pull the fan housing assembly & can’t get the damn bolt off the passenger side of it no room to get any tool inside its recessed & on the chassis it feels like. Can’t even see it. We’ve used everything & even bought a 10mm knuckle & can’t get it in there. Can’t even get two fingers in to the area. Any idea’s on what we can do?

Ok after much pain & suffering trying to remove fan assembly you have to use a 10mm offset wrench.

thanks for posting, we have a 2010 at my shop and wanted to get a sneak peak since book time says 3.2. From your video, I think we may want to cut the one wire that held you up, then solder and shrink wrap it to finish.

When you've never done something before, it's probably not a great idea to video yourself doing a trial and error job that takes an hour. I changed my radiator in 30 minutes. The only pain were the bottom hoses. Another 15 minutes to fill with coolant and bleed the system.

Feel free to share your shortcuts with others and help them out. Book time on this particular car with the 2.5L (vin 5) calls for 2.2 hours. The 2.5L (vin M) calls for 2.8 hours. Also, have you ever tried to video a job? It slows you down quite a bit. Youre welcome though. I took the time out of my schedule and daily to record it for you and others in order to help people so you can come on and comment about how Im unskilled and youre the best. Would love to hear how you pulled it off in 30 minutes and Im sure others would too. Id be worried about a 15 minute burping too. That hardly gives time for the thermostat to open or fan to kick on. Lets hear those shortcuts!

@MegaMilesBen Exactly. I know when Ive changed radiators, its taken me a good 2~3 hours total. Sure the first time u do it on a particular car, and u go do it again on the same car u knock off some time, bc you've loosened up everything from the first time and whatnot. Anyways yea, why would u come on youtube to look up cx7 radiator removal/replacement just to critique the video. You showed what all to do and explained everything.

Im doing one of these right now at work ... not alot of fun ...that wiring harness is a bitch .. probly have to cut that wire too!! Thanks for doing this vid will make tomorrow easier..

Hope it helps. If it had been my personal car, Idve cut the wire. Just make sure the battery is disconnected and to rewire it before reconnecting the battery.

I want to flush transmission fluid on the same system - are the bottom oil cooler connections easy to get on and off? Any special tool required? Or is there a better location to act as a drain - I want to use transmission pump to push out a 1L at a time/refill... any info appreciated.

I dont recommend full flushes. I like to do drain and fills. It exchanges about 1/3rd of the fluid and is enough to regenrate the old fluid. I recommend them about every 45,000. Full transmission flushes can put the transmission in "shock" and cause failure.

What the gray like connecter attached to the coolent reservoir is it some type of sensor.. . Also you flush then you burp right... Cause I think my thermostat stuck and I'm not a mechanic

Im not sure what youre talking about but its probably the level sensor. This was a clients car. You can test your thermostats operation in a pan of boiling water or with a really good heat gun.

Hi U said u removed those trans coolant line, what u put in those line instead? Are those included in the new Radiator u purchased, I have replace the radiator 2 years ago and just found out I have some leak from 1 of those trans coolant line

No need to replace them with anything, just remove them. The cooler is seperated from the radiator so if its leaking from there, the radiator is bad.

@@MegaMilesBen ok I though u have to plug the holes if u remove the bolts. The trans cooler is in the front the radiator if I not mistaken. Do u think any other reason cause the leaking? Other than the radiator is bad?

@mamcuong no, they dont need to be plugged, theyre not used and separated from the coolant portion of the radiator. Its actually not that uncommon for a radiator to go bad like that. Youre lucky you dont have transmission lines going in there cause then youd be looking at coolant in the transmission fluid too.

@@MegaMilesBen thanks for the reply again. I do have some coolant in the trans fluid last time I change it, so I change it 1 more time, this time no more coolant from in the fluid, I think it’s because the original radiator was leaking all over the place, almost like break out

Ben i have same car CX 7 years 2011. i am from bali my name nyoman my cx 7 indicator showing ABS warning light and TCS/DSC is warning light too even engine running what can i do... to fix this problem can you help me please.. thnks in advance and few days ago this car suddenly off and i try to start the engine more than twice the car finally running but on the next day the car showing normal i think is happen with overheat because motor dinamo main fan is run slow have to replace .. second fuel pump ..but if pump problem why on the next day the car is running normal . litle confuse please help ben thnks
