This is the terrifying sound of a Russian bomber sending coded messages back to base - as it flies near CORNWALL. The RAF scrambled Typhoon fighter jets to escort the two Russian Bear bombers who flew terrifyingly close to England as they passed up the Celtic Sea on Wednesday evening. The planes are believed to have flown around Ireland, in international airspace, before flying close to Cornwall and the English Channel. In a statement the Ministry of Defence said: "RAF Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon fighter aircraft were launched after Russian aircraft were identified flying close to UK airspace.

Oh. OK, if you want me to... As I can hear, the communication signal wasn't good for them too. I'm sure, words that I can not understand, the radio man on the plane can not understand too. - Balance, balance, balance, I'm 21 215, 21 215, do You copy? - 21 215, I'm balance, speak. - Balance, I'm 21 215, how do You read? - I'm balance, I'm reading You well. - Balance, I'm 21 215, I'm taking right for two points. - Roger that. - Balance, I'm 21 215, take the radio. - Radio reception is ready. - Balance, I'm 21 215, transmitting radio: section marks are - *he repeats every single number twice* 791, 952, 200, 263. Copy? - 21 215, I'm repeating selection marks ... 952 ... *signal is very bad here, but I can hear parts of this numbers, that 21 215 was telling* - Balance, I'm 21 215, repeat the 4th group, copy? - 2, 6, 3. - Balance, I'm 21 215, radio confirmed, copy? *a lot of noise and, I think, a bit of radio silence* - 21 214, I'm 21 215, how do You read, copy? - *I can not understand* - 21 214, I'm ready to receive radio, ready to receive. - *signal is very bad here, but I can hear parts of this numbers* - Repeat the 4th group, 21 214. - The 4th group is .. *not it's noisy* *and that the noise disappears* ... selection marks are *he repeats every single number twice* - 791, 952, 200, 263 - *noisy speech from 21 215* ... Balance, balance, balance, I'm 21 215, 21 215 copy? - 21 215, I'm Balance, I'm reading you. - Receive the radio from 21 214. - I'm Balance, I'm ready to receive the radio from 21 214. - I'm 21 215, transmitting radio from 21 214, the selection marks are *he repeats every single number twice* - 791, 952, 200, 263. - 21 215, I *signal is very bad here, but I can hear parts of this numbers, she repeats received selection marks* ...52 ... 263. - Balance, I'm 21 215, confirming radio.

Thanks for the translation, Victor. The aircraft in this audio recording have been confirmed as one of a pair of IL-78M Midas aerial refuelling tankers that were supporting the two Tu-95MS Bear H on their return leg back to Russia. Radio call signs 21214 and 21215 were noted by by Russian aviation enthusiasts as they were leaving Russia on their mission. One of the Tu-95MS Bear H was recorded by a UK based radio enthusiast. You can hear how loud the call sign 51131 as he passes a messages back to ground control. Hopefully the two audios will be on interest to you? planesandstuff.wordpress.com/2015/02/20/bear-hunting-part-two/

What exactly is terrifying about this? These missions have been going on since the 1960's and at least twice a week the RAF scramble jets to escort them in international air space. NATO does exactly the same thing to Russia, but the UK media chooses not to report that because it makes us out to be as bad as Russia. This is a good recording, but nothing on it is coded, if it was, it wouldn't be transmitted on any frequency that you could receive. On a foot note, the reason these flights have made it into the news again could just be that it's an election year and the Tories are trying to scare people. But remember this, the reason they can get so close is because the Tories have cut back defence spending so much that the UK hardly has an air force or navy to defend us.

Sounds like routine transmission of coded numbers groups. No big deal. When I worked Russian voice intercept for the US Army/NSA about a million years ago, we often deleted recordings similar to this one. Not always, but often.

BALANS NABOR KATOLIK ADRIS - new callsign for the recent flight SHPORA - believed to be Rostov-na-Donu though not proven MEDYANKA OCHITSKAThe location of the other callsigns is unknown, but BALANS and NABOR are called the most and it seems likely one of them is Moscow or Long Range HQ.They kept calling BALANS for some time with coded messages but never got a reply, this is a short recording of the whole mission I heard.. when balans did respond nothing of major importance was passed, location, fuel & times, co-ords, and a few other reports passed across. Tankers also had some issues they were calling and never got replies they called adris and balans from my records :) TU95's worked interplane on 138.550 as they prefer Victor rather than Uniform radio comms, they also were using CW - Morse code which I have no idea about.. it doesn't intrest me

Hey! I'm from Russia! Do You want me to translate it for you? Not all of the words are legibly, but most of them... Is It strange that I'm watching almost all of Your videos and news if I'm from Russian Federation? I like Your channel very much, btw.

I speak Russian & what he said was: Control to Russian pilot. "Do you see anything down there comrade"?. Pilot, "Just a lot of black people, Muslims and a pile of debt, UK is fucked".

I understand Russian, But there is nothing to translate, because here is nothing about Corwall and Typhoons also there is nothing about Tu-95 BEAR , seems like signal testing only, a guy transmiting numerals in 4 groups for 2 different operators only. That is definitely not an civilian or military aviation negotiations.

Temeque, Yes the audio and the further links I supplied in the comments is military communications. The Russian bomber and tanker refuelling aircraft make extensive use of HF on these long missions. The messages are coded and are sent in both Morse and Voice. The following image links shows the radio operators station on a Tu-95MS Bear H. The HF radios are set on frequency 8909 Kilohertz. 8909 is the Summer HF main Voice frequency. www.airliners.net/photo/Russia---Air/Tupolev-Tu-95MS/1524019/L/ See following for details of the HF used and monitored by radio enthusiasts during these long missions. planesandstuff.wordpress.com/2015/01/31/bear-hunting/ The following is from another UK radio enthusiast that recorded one of the Tu-95MS Bear H using voice and passing coded message back to ground control. planesandstuff.wordpress.com/2015/02/20/bear-hunting-part-two/ Russian aviation and radio enthusiasts monitored the Russian aircraft as they headed out on their mission and posted on social media. As I previously posted note the HF Voice frequency on the radios of the following Tu-95MS Bear H. www.airliners.net/photo/Russia---Air/Tupolev-Tu-95MS/1524019/L/ 8909 Kilohertz is the Summer HF Voice Frequency for the bomber/tanker net. The same 3 figure message format is used on this frequency when the Tu-95s and IL-78s are flying their long range missions. Obviously the ground and aircraft call signs change with the radio seasons.
