One thing mentioned that I didn't explain, just because I felt it would be too much and not that relevant in the moment, is the big story of 1995 or 1996 The Trial Of Superman, which Lois refers to in her list of calamitous events in Adventures 546. What happened was that a tribunal of intergalactic jerks decided that by their laws, they would hold Superman responsible for the destruction of Krypton as it's sole living remnant, and then showed up on Earth and kidnapped him. Superman put up with what he thought was a justice system, until he saw how corrupt it was, then was forced to band with criminals to escape and return to Earth. If you saw the band of alien criminals, who were all simply chained together when they escaped, you would be most reminded of Hulk's friends seen in World War Hulk and Thor Ragnarok, and they all had power levels similar to superheroes with their unique alien forms. Some of the criminals turned out to have hearts of gold, and some turned out to be villains needing intervention. This tested Superman's morality, but in the end he was able to get home with the help of the Superman Rescue Squad, all the second string Metropolis based and S Shield bearing heroes (Superboy, Supergirl, Steel, and Alpha Centurion, maybe Maxima too? It's been a long time, somebody already had a spaceship they used though.) I just figured there was enough explanation and history already, and it didn't really factor into anything else relevant to this story.

I got everything I wanted for Christmas, and I was able to give back what I could. I'll call that a win any year. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

The narration and the sound effects make these comics so much better. This is good stuff.

That's the whole point of the show, to try and elevate the work, but I must point out that they pretty much play like this in my head, when I read them to myself. All the show is is me taking that imagination and putting into the real world as best as my voice and editing skills are able. My hope is that the show will help others read comics the same way.

🤷🏾♂️I’m going to say that having read a lot of Superman comics and novels I have never seen him so worried about him self.

About the only thing I can compare it to is Emperor Joker, where Clark was very afraid he had lost his mind and his sanity in Joker's madhouse world. There, though, belief was the key to reality, and Clark's proved stronger in the end. Here, it's a matter even further out of his control. I love that he doesn't let it stop him or barely slow him down, though. Being Superman was always a job with no manual, but it needed to be done. In Infinite Crisis he explains to Superboy Prime that "Being Superman isn't about where you're from, or what powers you have. It's about what you do. It's about action." And he proves that very well in this story. We all have to do what we can, with what we have, where we are, and those things are often not under our total control either. I think that's a big part of why Superman is such a lasting inspiration to people, and this story expresses that perfectly, to me. I'm glad people seem to be enjoying it, as many clickbait articles and slop videos will just write the whole thing off as an odd mistake, while I feel nothing could be further from the truth.
