I think Hank Aaron (Steel's mixed up name) was a baseball player, but that was past the line of references I was looking up, and had the patience for, but the home run gag might tie into that. I really questioned which references to explain and which to assume were broadly enough known to be left alone, and I decided to err on the side of caution. I tried to keep in mind that not everyone who sees this will have lived in America or during the time of the book's printing, and to focus on things that anyone, anywhere, might not know about, in addition to all the Superman-specific lore stuff. Sorry if some of them seem very basic. Also, I did have to just call it quits at a certain point, or else fall into madness myself. I was adding in new margin entries right up to the final minutes of editing as it was, and I know I missed at least a few. Feel free to point out any that you may have noticed here in the comments. This was a long and very difficult project, and I was falling apart by the end. I had to re record about half of the pivotal final battle, and I didn't even notice all the reading errors at the time, I just had to get it done at that point. Thankfully they're all very minor (reading the word 'knock' instead of 'kick', and such), and I hope it doesn't detract from the impact of the story. One final note, if you get the trade paperback version, Ignition's lines are missing from the final issue due to a printing error, I filled them in from the print copy for this production.

Lol yes Hank Aaron was a baseball player for the braves and had the career home run record for a long time. 755 or something like that.

Damn I just looked it up I got it exactly lol for context... He broke BABE RUTH's record of 714 career homers. Babe freaking Ruth. And he's black so at the time it was a big deal.

And for more context... A 50 home run season is AMAZING. The steroid record is like ~70. To get 755 you need 50+ a year for 15 years. That's insane.

@@mrdgenerate That's cool. He's one of the first big names in baseball, I'm sure I've heard him referenced in baseball movies my whole life, but I never looked him up specifically.

Out of all the comic KZbinrs, kinda like your joker voice the best. Always liked his tone being a pompous asshole that might be crazy.

Thanks! My inspiration is Mark Hamill's turn on the Batman Animated Series from 1992.

Sorry. I played all of the games many times, but I never read any of the comic filler between the games. Same for the Injustice universe, I thought the story in the games themselves was plenty. I might have read a short comic set before Arkham City, which showed Bruce being taken in by Hugo and set up that intro sequence. I remember it was fine, but not so different from the regular comics world that it stood out much. I'm used to reading things like Elseworlds, where the changes are more radical, and often the whole point of the story. I guess I would say that I don't play games for the stories, though, I play them for the gameplay. I feel that the medium of video games is not the best way to tell a story, the story in games is a secondary concern, or at least it should be. I hate when modern games sacrifice good gameplay for story immersion, I think they've got it all backwards. I look to other mediums, usually the comics themselves, for the best stories, and I tend to mostly ignore the stories in the games I play. The Arkham series does have a good plotline, but basically every story element in it is a compromised form of something that was done better in the comics at some point.
