I think you just solved my problem. I just ordered a set of replacement woofers this morning without troubleshooting. There's a whole lot shaken goin on with that little braided wire and huge magnet and coil. Thanks for troubleshooting this for me!

I have an old pair of these. My Dad’s version of “You want it to sound like the band is in the room!” was to crank the stereo and I believe he blew the tweeters. You’ve inspired me to want to refresh them, perhaps even put some higher quality drivers inside.

i have 5 sets of minmus 7 speakers they all work great they are worth about 70 bucks a set they cost 50 each new in the 70,s

Did someone cut in that port in he back? or factory. I have a set of Minimus 7's they are not ported

The port was put in there at the factory from what it looked like to me.

There are 3 versions of this speaker, each with a different name. First was the Minimus 7 up until 1993. Second, they changed the name to Optimus Pro 7 and added ports. This is the one he's working on. Third version removed the port and added AV to the name, Optimus Pro 7 AV. Their transition represented the market's transition to home theatre and it's surround receivers.

They are rated for 40 watts per channel.

Good video, but I don't see how a ported speaker can be water-proof.

Good Call. Maybe the gasket is so the metal speaker and the metal enclosure doesn't vibrate when music is played. 👍

The Pro 7 are 50 watts when the Minimus 7 are 40 watts
