Realistic Minimus 77 Refoaming Repair Job for dummies

You can do it, trust me. It's pretty damn easy. Bring back some speakers for cheap! This was a quick and dirty job as I don't care much what these ended up looking like.

Refreshing to see how your patient one step at a time approach can result in a very serviceable and satifying product. Inverted roll and top of cone mounting will work just fine. Thanks for posting !

You must cut the dust cap carefully and use either thin plastic strips or strips of buss card between voice coil and center mag pole to keep gap correct. After foam is done, remove strips and carefully line up cap (matching cut, or mark before cutting), then glue it back. Otherwise your likely to have rubbing issues between coil and mag structure eventually damaging windings.

Can you provide a new link to the surround please mate? I have a pair I wish to repair and not sure which is the right one! Also, how did they sound with the surround fixed to the front of the cone instead of the back?

It appears the seller on eBay doesn't have an active listing for them right now. If you follow the link and message the seller maybe he will get another run made to sell. These ended up sounding just fine the way that I affixed the new surrounds.

@@pubsub9832 Thanks - the link falls flat for me anyway (incomplete, perhaps?) If you can remember the spec, that might help? I've been looking at 4.5" but I think they might be a touch too small...

Here are specs that the seller put in the listing: inside diameter 2 7/8", ANGLED edge, inverted roll inside roll (cone diameter) 3 1/8" outside roll diameter 4" outside diameter 4 5/8"
