I have to wonder: is this why the race was shortened to 400 miles? Even so, you had Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson with heavy Turn 1 crashes in 2006 and 2017 (Jamie McMurray had one at the same time Johnson did in 2017, but rode around the wall). That Bubba Wallace crash was scary until the window net came down.

I know it all happens fast, but could he have just put the car against the wall and rode through 1 instead of trying to srub speed off in the grass and subsequently sliding back up the track?
@DerekS756 жыл бұрын
John Pennell yea but his instincts were basically telling him to turn left I think he may have said it himself that if he had more time to think he would have done it
@casualgamefreak6 жыл бұрын
It's a common mistake made when brakes fail. The driver's instinct is to get as far away from the wall as possible, which doesn't serve well when you're going into the corner and about to slam into the wall at a more severe angle, as you point out. Even veterans make this same mistake, as shown by Jimmie Johnson when he crashed in a very similar manner last year at the June race here. You said it yourself. It happens really quickly, and the first instinct, to avoid the wall, is the only one drivers are able to act on.
@teddygonzalez7916 жыл бұрын
I can't stand how stupid NASCAR and people act like they don't see that these cars are cheating they say fords are doing good yet no it's that one driver that keeps winning and passing people like there standing still clearly they are cheating got caught at the beginning of the season and they haven't figured anything out later like really this year is harvick last year was truex NASCAR this is why people don't watch anymore and your Losing fans how Can't you see how fast he is compared to others that he started all the way in the back yet some how past so many cars that fast than goes all the way to first
