The Top Gear U.K parody is amazing here. I'm an Elite player but if I had the money I'd get Star Citizen. The fact that each commercial has it's own style and feel seems to humanize the game a bit more than Elite, though Elite has more realism to it.

Why are there tail fins on a space missile? Theres no air for the missile to be guided on? Shouldnt it be thrusters to keep it balanced?

+Kyle Li You could fire the missile in some kind of nebula. You will be able to fly around planets in atmosphere and land on planets. Ground bases could use them to defend themself. These missiles are not only for space. Look at a spaceshuttle in reallife it has wings and is aerodynamic shaped. They could steer the rockets via changing the vector of the jet stream. Adding additional maneuvering thrusters could be to expensive. Remember that you have to buy these things with your own money and when you hit a target they blow up! Btw it looks better...

Its part of Star Citizen dude. Welcome back to earth, where have you been for the past 5 years? And when u ask "Can you do a game too?" do you realize how you sound? I spent 9 years across 4 game development degrees (AS, BS, AFA, BFA, and an MFA in progress) and being fimiliar with the pipeline, i mean noooobody does a solo game these days, even indi developers have teams. A solo game is something like a glorified version of pong or tick tack toe, and most of the time programmers aren't very good at visual composition and design, so in a general sense, the game would be lacking. Most games these days have budgets from 10-60 million and a 200 person team (on average), and take 4 years to complete a game. And thats on a tight deadline (which is why developers like EA or a AAA title game are often lacking - the corporate douche bags stuck their heads into the chili.) I guess what im getting at here is anyone who tells you they made a game on their own that isnt complete shit... Is full of shit. A better question to ask would be "What game is this?" or "What studio / developer is this?"

As for the missile aerofoils. Firstly, CR has stated that he wants SC to be as real as possible BUT they should never forget it's a game; and the fun of the game should not be sacrificed for the sake of being more real. Secondly, Most of the smaller ships can enter the atmosphere, so if you fire a missile in atmosphere it's going to need aerofoils.

One where human made spaceships regular cross between solar systems, with an industry to manufacture them. Easy there, guy. It's like people have no concept of the fact that developing a project of this scope takes years to do. This game has been in development for 4.5 years, 3.5 years with a reasonable amount of manpower. Most AAA games take 5-7 years before going gold, if they care to release a feature complete product. Nobody has ever made a game this large, we haven't even hit the 4 year mark proper, and people still act like this is the worst thing to ever show it's face in the game industry. Publishers wouldn't even let you know their game existed yet in this stage, you're witnessing the process of building a game from the very beginning - and getting surprised when it takes time. The game will launch, whether or not they can do everything CR wants done is a debate for a later time.

Yep there is a speed limit for every ship, there is also a G-Force simulation wich means you can easily blackout when doing some escape manoeuvers soooo ... i guess a speed limit is not that bad =D

So I've watched a few KZbin videos and Of course, I'm very interested. I'm just wondering how it all works. Is it all one big universe or is SC, Squadron 42 and the Aquilla system thing all separate games/downloads/costs? Is this all online or is there a single player mode? Do I have to be in some sort of organization and constantly do missions or can I just cruise around the galaxy and explore? Can I earn credits in game that allows me to upgrade or buy a new ship or whatever, or is that all pay to play? What do I have to do or buy to be able to race? That's a mode you don't see in any other space sim and one I would probably be pretty good at.

brettt777 Star citizen(the multiplayer part) is available in alpha right now and you can fly around in the mini persistent universe but there isn't a huge amount of things to do yet. You can also play the fps mode and the arena commander mode(flying/racing/fighting in your spaceship). Squadron 42 is supposed to come out this year, hopefully in the summer. And 3.0 one of the most important patches should be coming out in 2-3 months if there aren't a lot of issues with the game. 3.0 will add basic professions and landing on planets etc :D

The game is cheaper right now than it will be when it comes out though right now you can buy star citizen+squadron 42 for 60$ instead of ~100$ when SQ42 comes out.
