Thanks for watching! I didn't cover absolutely everything that I wanted to in this video, but I had to play it safe with some aspects of the episode because Viva La Bam / Jackass content almost always gets copyright strikes or age restrictions. I also didn't want to double dip and cover stuff that I've gone over extensively in the past. Here's a playlist with every video I've done that covers Jackass, CKY, Viva La Bam, and everything else related to those things: kzbin.info/aero/PLMxuVpylD3wIkbauku0vAlTjWOKKdJXdR&si=_SWkbndtvYpV4CQy

The show would sometimes poke fun of scripted moments. I don't remember the episode, but I remember someone told Dico to call a bulldozer. The camera cuts to Dico for second of him just saying "A bulldozer" on a cell phone. Then it cuts to a bulldozer arriving. 😂

I just watched the commentary of that episode. Dico talked about how he hated that because they made him and Rabb wait in that car for an hour. So all the stuff Dico said was out of anger and boredom.

I just want to say how much I appreciate your work. I discovered your channel about a year ago (maybe more), and it feels like catching up with an old friend every time. As someone from outside the US, this kind of media (shows like Viva La Bam/Jackass, other MTV shows of that time, the Tony Hawk games, Kevin Smith movies) were my own personal window to US culture of the late 90's/early 2000s as a teenager. There's something about Viva La Bam especially, that makes me really nostalgic, even though culturally I never "lived" it, if that makes sense lol

I remember buying CKY 3 and 4 at my local Sam Goody, along with Steve-O’s Don’t Try This At Home video and his masterpiece- PCP Saved My Life. But I was a fan of the CKY crew above all the other Jackass cliques. Im still able to watch and enjoy Viva La Bam and everything- but it’s so crazy to look back now and see all that stuff. I freaking loved this show, man, it's like a live-action cartoon at times. I mean...Bam and his fam lived in a CASTLE of sorts. Yes, it can be pretty staged at times, but it honestly kinda makes it more impressive how they did some of that stuff, like the civil war recreation and State Of Bam having a pretty big-ass explosion, on top of that.

I didn't watch much Jackass as a kid, but as I got obsessed with the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater games (and Bam's first appearance in THPS3) I became a voracious Viva La Bam viewer as soon as I discovered it as a young teenager. I loved the idea of going on all sorts of crazy adventures; especially if they involved traveling to new places. Some moments left a bad taste in my mouth (like April's china cabinet getting smashed in Fat Boy Face Off - I felt bad for her) but for the most part it was incredibly fun to watch. I especially loved the cool music licensed for the show: bands like The Beatsteaks, The Briefs, Dillinger Four, Dwarves, Coachwhips, An Albatross, Unsane, and way more (if that music got removed for streaming, it would suck.) I actually met Brandon DiCamillo at New York Comic Con in 2010, before he withdrew into private life: he's a cool dude!
@MediaPastimes Жыл бұрын
That china cabinet is actually another good example of a planted item, because there's no way that it was actually April's. They probably bought it locally for the episode simply to destroy it 😅 but I agree about everything you said. I still listen to Beatsteaks because of this show.

I remember 2003 really well. The first year I was officially/legally an adult. I was in the US and the Iraq War happened. Because I remember 2003 so well I find it really unsettling and strange to think it was a full twenty years ago; two decades. As we get older the years fly by quicker and quicker. Just look at what Bam was then and what he is now. He was young, healthy, happy, funny and cool. Now he's a bitter, bloated, culturally irrelevant, drug addled, mentally ill man who spends his time bitching and complaining and arguing with ex-colleagues and friends. There are a lot of scary things that are a fact of life: tragedy, death, unemployment, illhealth...but the scariest thing of all is the passage of time. Especially when that passage leads to a worse place than you were in to begin with. I hope Ban can find some redemption and reconciliation.
@ROCKSTAR3291 Жыл бұрын
I've lived a pretty happy life, but there's a deep sadness when I think about the fact that all the great things that happened during the prime of my youth are totally irrelevant now... I can't imagine how Bam is feeling; I hope he finds peace.

Then Jackass came out shortly after and it was weird to see some of the CKY bits on a totally new show. Manny was a really cool guy and it was actually really interesting to see sort of an educational "National Geographic" type show mixed with Jackass lol. The cast around bam really made the show. Bams celebrity allowed for dico and the like to do scaled up stunts and jokes which is the heart of the show (imo). The Christmas special they did still holds up to me but it’s crazy to think how fast that all happened. Really explains bams decent especially paired with episodes of radio bam from these times.

I remember seeing an episode of Viva La Bam & cringing at Bam's obvious attempts at trying to be Ville Valo from H.I.M., fashion wise, & the sudden change in his accent when he met Ville Valo for the first time. I also hated how Bam treated his parents before he got his own show, specifically that one skit on Jackass where Phil turned the tables on Bam & reversed a prank on Bam. Bam reacted by punching his own father behind the head, for no other reason other than Phil turning the tables on Bam. Bam deserves everything that's happening to him. I don't feel sorry for him at all.
