Yorke seems to be singing "Half of my life", "I've found my love", or "Every minute, half of my love". Most people think this song is for his ex-wife, who died in 2016. One obvious sign is that their marriage lasted 23 years, and in the music video Thom opens 23 doors, each one representing a year of their time together.

This is an absolute gem of a melody from Thom and blew me away when I first heard it for its hypnotic simplicity (like Videotape). I love it so much that I noticed you’ve got one note wrong in that first phrase at 2:06. Listen closely to the recording. You play “C# D F# E D”.. It should be “C# D F# E C#”.. Other than that, what an incredible incredible cover. I cherish this video as a template to learn from and also, awesome RX5!

This is a song about divorce in the first half, and the death of his ex wife in the second half. In the outro, backwards masked, he says "half of my life" over and over, referencing the fact that 4 decades in at the time, he had spent 2 of them by her side.

When listening to your cover with the vocals playing in my head as well as the rest of the instruments I just start to feel all of Thom York's (the lead singer of Radiohead for those who don't know) sadness and emotion in his voice. Then again, whenever I listen to a song usually I have my volume up high so I can fully experience the emotions and instruments within a song this I found extremely effective on me when I listen to a song by Radiohead.

Hey all, thanks for all the lovely feedback and I'm glad that you've enjoyed this clip. I need some help! As these clips are fairly new and I'm trying to work out what the best format is, if anyone can provide any feedback as to what they liked / didn't like / what works / what doesn't work, that would be awesome. Is the sheet music important? I've released a few other clips as part of this series, but am unsure if it's just better to aim for current songs or just new releases. What do you all think? Thanks, Josh :-)

Hi Julie, thanks for the feedback. With Daydreaming, to remove the melody, all you would need to do is play the first two lines of the intro during the verses. They repeat three times in each verse. Any requests for future clips?

The best cover I have seen so far. In terms of making a tutorial of this song, it would help if we could see the section that starts at 2:06 (the tricky part for me as I am new into piano) slower in a second video. What works: Black and white, Full HD quality, minimal visual style. What doesn't work: The sheets are not what I am looking for but they are essential for a lot of other people, as for me, I am concentrating at the fingers. Thanks for sharing this!

I love the unorthodox theory of the part where the piano line is those 8th notes. The Amaj6 to A minor 6. Then the chords after that. B min to Bb maj. then the F back to the verse. Radiohead is my fav band simply because every song is so harmonically interesting. It sounds like nothing else. I love when they show the maj and min version of a chord back to back. They do it in nude, creep, morning bell, and a bunch of others. I get chills everytime. This song is so simple yet complex. The 2/3 polyrythm and the many sus2 and sus4 chords in the arrangement. Every single note hits hard. Masterful performance of a hauntingly majestic song.

+Dagen van stro Normally I find a dominant 7th chord to be so boring and predictable, as it usually resolves back home. I do however love when it doesn't function as a traditional dominant 7th chord and is used somewhat out of context in Western harmony.

+Guilherme Eddino I would probably just practise the first bar of this section over and over until you get a good feel for how this section works. It took quite a bit of time to get accustomed to the pattern of notes.

Thanks for the tip! I'll do that!

Also look out for the two main patterns: - the A D E from the intro retains throughout the bridge (pretty interesting to note the harmony changes). - the direction of the notes stays the same, regardless of the harmony Have you had a chance to look over my coloured arrangement? I have thought about this one. I'm sometimes reticent about recording tracks that are heavily saturated already on KZbin. Might see if I can put my own spin on it. Thanks for the request regardless! 😃

Such a meditative piece, there's this dreamlike etheareal quality to the music, the repetitious progression, the melody, the droning sustain pedal, it almost seems like meditative ode to life and death, like a life flashing before your eyes montage, bringing to mind films like Darren Aronofsky's the Tree of Life, or the similarly titled The Tree Of Life by Terrence Mallick.

Your Radiohead covers are truly sensational! I'm so glad to have stumbled upon this exquisite display of skill.

There's something in your version of this song that is missed in the way Radiohead plays it (both live and in studio). This and so many more of your covers have provided a GREAT soundtrack for the novel I've been writing. Thanks a lot Josh. P.S. Still waiting for Pink Floyd's Echoes, mate!!! I know you said it would be quite a job to tackle, but I think your best bet would be to stick to the vocal parts of Echoes part one and part two. Maybe include your own version of the slow buildup in the intro. But I'd say don't worry so much about the solo parts of the songs. Just go from the vocal section of Echoes pt 1 and segway into the vocal section of Echoes pt2. I think that's where your playing will really shine. Something to think about!!

+Tyler Neal Awesome. Thanks for the suggestions. What's the novel?

Josh Cohen seriously, thank you for asking. I absolutely hate the current trend of vampire stories and shows. True Blood and Twilight are complete crap. It's all aesthetics and no substance. Ann Rice (Interview with the Vampire) is one of my biggest inspirations lately. So this book is about an agoraphobic vampire living in a lovely little tourist town named Eureka Springs, AR who doesn't identify himself as a vampire. He's just a man who underwent a strange transition that requires him to drink blood in order to survive, but unlike most vampire tales that glorify the aesthetic of blood, this guy never spills a drop. He is also a musician who prefers the taste of musicians' blood. And as he drinks more blood from all the musicians and artists that come through this neat quiet little town, he absorbs their creativity. He plays around town and covers some of my favorite artists. That's pretty much it in a nutshell but it's all really an allegory for opiate addiction and the justifications needed to maintain that kind of habit. I'll be done by December and I'll let you know as soon as I get it published. Thanks for the inspiration josh!!!
