I'm not sure why Skyrim has such a special place in my heart. It might be because the time I played it was the last time I ever felt young.

For me it's a combination of setting and background soundrtracks. The music was composed by Jeremy Soule which I consider one of the greatest musical geniuses of our time. None of the tracks he composed feel boring or out of place, and they always hit perfectly whether you're exploring or fighting. And the setting... I could write a 100 page essay on the setting. It's a magical world built around ancient norse mythology as well as being filled to the brim with folklore. The map is tiny but they managed to make it truly feel like an entire country. And the artstyle was so good that it still looks visually stunning today, 13 years later. The skybox is the most gorgeous and awe-inspiring I've ever seen in a video game, which adds to the sense of wonder and mystery. This was Bethesda at its absolute peak and I really had hopes it was only going to get better from there.

The artwork in the video makes it look like if Skyrim was an old point and click from Sierra in the 90's. Looks very nice.

Oooooooh, Sierra!!! Golden Age of gaming. I miss the old Sierra Era.
@InvestmentBankr4 күн бұрын
Skyrim kinda is a point and click just with better graphics! It isn't really an immersion RPG, it definitely isn't a FPS/Combat driven game, it isn't a sand box / open world any more than a King's quest.... I never thought about it till now, but an on-rails diologue and item based simple puzzle solver and exploration game.... skyrim IS the latest manifestation of Sierra's legacy, rofl!

Love your videos, they’ve gotten me through a lot of tough work days and study hours. These piano arrangements are awesome and simply beautiful. Been playing lots of Skyrim lately with our first baby, staying up all night with him to let my wife sleep. When he dozes off I play Skyrim, it’s a special feeling him in my arms right now listening to this music as he falls asleep. Skyrim really has been a part of so many people growing up, so heartwarming to know the comfort that the game brought me when I was in a darker place has music to help my son sleep

Lofi, now piano? I love what you guys do; to keep things short Skyrim just came in the right time of my life to be considered more than a game, and so, hearing these soothing variants help add motivation and life to quotidian tasks. Also, will this be available for download like your lofi songs? I read the attribution instructions and stumbled upon the wav files and sort of-with guilt-used them to listen locally via other music players. Thanks for what you guys do again

Everyone is mentioning about how they were playing Skyrim when they were a kid or a teenager, and it makes my heart melt. I think since we started growing up we started losing the sight of the things once made us feel comfortable... It feels so magical, yet weird to have one of the best memories of my life with a video game. I remember sitting on the chair and playing Skyrim for hours. Sometimes without doing any guest or something like that. I had a tough childhood due to my health problems, but I'll never forget about the girl who has waken up to the earliest hours of the morning just to play some Skyrim, Assasin's Creed, Tomb Raider, Uncharted... and more. These games really kept me distracted from what I had back then... But it was more than that. Sometimes my sister would join me, and we would play together for hours. She never really felt a connection towards Skyrim, but she played it cause I enjoyed being with her. She made me giggle, laugh for hours making mistakes while playing. I don't know if she was doing it on purpose sometimes, but I loved it. Now she is married. I have a niece, and I feel so far away from my childhood. We were sitting on the table with my sister a few days ago, and we mentioned about how we used to play video games and spend our time together more often. I could see how emotional she went, and she is not an emotional person. I felt the same. But I'm still that little girl, and she is still that teenager. I still get excited over a video game, book, poem, song or a painting. Little me would've been so happy to see that I kept our little magic alive. I used to believe that it was a phase back then and I would grow up from it eventually. Well, I have my own life now. I have things to do, I have career goals and many other things... But little did I know that I was always going to be that little girl who sat on the chair and played video games. In KZbin comments, I often find people who are like me, and I appreciate it. Thank you for this video.
