I used to play guitar in Montreal, on the street and in the subways, and few times I'd be joined by a street artist who had a similar line style, he'd use his fingers to paint these 'smoky' drawings, on the back of commercial advertising banners that he'd lift. He'd ask for about $20 for a 20"x30", unless you wanted to push him down and then he might take whatever you offered. But I love the emotion that can be conveyed in this style. I suppose he was further in the back ground of this image, more in the chaos, less aware of his own self or the words that people are saying around him. But I can relate to being the alien in the foreground. Maybe not with the beer, but still thought I'd give you some recognition, and hope you give people the opportunity to continue to enjoy your art.

Can't believe I'm only hearing this now, in 2024. This is remarkably similar to the released version, meaning they were basically sitting on this gem for years before it got released.

yeah i still love this. picture is actually the first result in a google image search for 'subterranean homesick alien.' not sure of the source -- the way the other people are drawn reminds me of stanley donwood's stuff.
