I met a guy in my college class who told me his favorite band was Radiohead. At that point, Radiohead was just a band I'd heard of but never actually listened to. I downloaded the "In Rainbows" album on my Spotify that day. Later that week, I went to a concert with some friends. 3 am rolls around and everybody is leaving the concert, and I was coming down off of a bit of ecstasy. I only bring this up because anybody who has done it knows the blissful and euphoric feeling of it all, yet the feeling of melancholy that accompanies it when you come down. With nothing to do, I went to the closest 24 hour store and bought a pack of water bottles. I drove around the city handing out water bottles to the homeless. I picked up this woman who lost her friends and drove her home. Anyways, the whole night, this album played on repeat; especially Nude, All I Need, Reckoner, and Jigsaw Falling Into Place. There was one point in the night where I drove over this bridge that overlooked the city. There were no cars around, fog was settled on the bridge, and Nude was playing in the background....and I can't explain the feeling of it all. I still get chills when I listen to this song alone. Thank you Radiohead. Edit: I was driving during the comedown which means I wasn't really high anymore. Nevertheless it prob wasn't the smartest decision, so don't do what I did. Make smarter decisions than 19 year old me. Also, some of you have a lot of hate in your hearts. Hope you can find your happiness.

I turn 60 in the morning. I heard this track for the first time tonight and couldn’t stop replaying it over and over. I grew up listening to an eclectic mix, much of which I still love. With all that said, I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a song that’s made me want to weep so urgently on the first hear. On replay, all the bad decisions I’ve made and all the stupid and mean things I’ve said come flooding back and I wish and yearn to go back and tell that ignorant, rude and selfish me from the past how terribly I’m going to regret what I just did. Maybe its the date, maybe its the music, who knows. Either way, thank you Radiohead. My world is better for hearing this, as I will again again now i know its out there.

What a gift this song was for you. We’ve all done things we bitterly regret. I tend to believe that most of us are doing our best at any given moment, navigating our particular limitations, fears, and blind spots at the time. And then if we’re lucky we move forward from there and try to forgive ourselves and others. Radiohead’s catalog is full of mysterious and revelatory songs. I hope your birthday was wonderful and wish you the best.

@GuacJohnson3 жыл бұрын
@@andrieguteza9573 nude doesn't necessarily mean nudity: it can also be used to describe the art of opening yourself completely to others "baring yourself nude" for them. I personally think the song is about how our expectations of others and ourselves are often wrong and misguided and even baring truly who you are to someone isn't a guarantee they will see or understand you as well as a commentary on how we lie to ourselves about who we are in the first place and why we do the things we do.
@Michael-cv5wk3 жыл бұрын
@@andrieguteza9573 I mean, yeah and the original song Big Ideas (Don't Get Any) makes that more clear, but this was released probably 10 years later at least, and I think it could mean so much more in this context. I think it can be stripped down (heh) to really mean not to sell yourself to any expectations of a moment in general, because life isn't about satisfaction and catharsis it's about being at the service of what comes at you and accepting it. NOTHING in life will be what you have mapped out in your head, and, at least in my opinion, accepting that is the meaning of life itself. It can mean a LOT to many people, and taking out the verse (she stands stark naked etc.) that narrows it down, I think, is a really smart choice. Maybe the inception of the song was perversion, but I think having your own meaning is completely ok.

kenopsia n. the eerie, forlorn atmosphere of a place that’s usually bustling with people but is now abandoned and quiet-a school hallway in the evening, an unlit office on a weekend, vacant fairgrounds-an emotional afterimage that makes it seem not just empty but hyper-empty, with a total population in the negative, who are so conspicuously absent they glow like neon signs.

I think that outro and "hopeful last note" portray a beautiful contrast between the more dreary lyrics and the unspoken spark of light carried by their music.

This song makes me feel so... alive. Everytime I hear it I start to question my decisions and plans for the future. It makes me realize that most of them are just a fantasy, that most of our lives are pointless. The beauty of life lies in its absurdity. Everything is so random and unfair... Pure poetry...

This song is a spiritual experience for me. It's really about the inevitable human truth that THINGS just won't fill the hole that we all have inside of us. There's always going to be something missing. Once you get what you want you just want something else, or more. It's a never ending road. In this case it's sex. But as a whole it helps me realize that you have to look within yourself for fulfillment, not outward material things. We can spend a lifetime looking around the world for something that will bring us peace and happiness, when all along it was within ourselves. It's a really tough truth to reckon with but it's a step.

2 things… I’ve never scrolled through and seen “MOST REPLAYED” through an ENTIRE SONG! 0:11 - 0:20 0:29 - 2:16 2:34 - 3:15 And the spots in between have pretty much the same amount of replays 😮 The time spent making this was truly appreciated I’m assuming. Second thing is that I worked in an “adult store” for years and got asked many times about the music I’d be playing and I had a playlist specifically for foreplay/setting the mood and this song was on the playlist. There were actually 4 Radiohead songs on the foreplay playlist alone. From this album and King of Limbs. The playlist for when the action has started has 5 Radiohead songs on it. Mostly because of the mood and steady tempo that I found helped a lot of people. So, thanks Radiohead for being able to make rock music that’s able to play alongside of RnB songs without changing the mood. You truly helped many peoples sex lives. I got many return customers to the shop too. So that’s another bonus!

Stealing from what? Dude what are you smoking?? The fact that both songs are in 6/4 and have strummed chords from the lowest to highest note and back doesnt make it a copy because if it did artists would sue the hell out of each other. That's not copyright. By this logic using a hihat in drums line would be copy too. But first of all Radiohead chord progression in Nude is waaaaaaay more advanced and uses modulation or chords outside of scale, the Funkadelic chord progression is all in one key and one scale it's just i VII v VI which is very basic minor chord progression.
