Thanks for posting this step-by-step tutorial and others in your series. I am a longtime Spektrum user who is just getting started with looking at OpenTX. I purchased a TX16s nine months ago, but never took it out of the box due to fear I would brick it. After finding your channel and reviewing your videos, I finally had the confidence to take it out of the box and start familiarizing myself with it and OpenTX. It has been a bit overwhelming, but your tutorials and the way you teach have helped me tremendously. I am now looking forward to applying this information and building my skills when my TX12 arrives soon. 👍🏻

By the way. Flashing the latest MPM firmware doesn’t work. Tried it. Apparently you have to use the firmware compiled by radiomaster from their website.

Hi, Be careful when you flash the new TX12 because there is a C8 MCU, 64K. You must download the right version of firmware and flash only if you really need it !

I think you selected the incorrect firmware please try flashing the other version which I think will be the 64 kb version.

Hi Rodrigo, you need to select the 64kb firmware for your TX12 and you should be ok.

Please check if there is an SDCard in the TX12’s card reader and not bigger than 32GB would suggest only using a good quality 16GB though 8GB perfectly big enough.

Hey man I have a problem with my tk12 mk2, Im having trouble with binding this radio to my drone because I can’t access”tools”. Everytime I press system button I get “no tools available” how do I make sure I have the right things downloaded to the right file

The tools are Lua Scripts I would take out the SDCard and check if there are any files in the folder Scripts.

Goto the RadioMaster website download the SDCard contents for your radio, format the SDCard and place the download contents to it. You should be good then. Remember to unzip the contents before placing on the card.

You can buy an external ExpressLRS external module to attach to the bay at the back if the TX12.

Hi Bill, My radio is showing no telemetry on the setup status, I have copied the 63kb bin file into the firmware file and it doesn't show up on the radio. However, the initial variation of the firmware shows up? not sure what is going on could you help?

Patrick you need to use the other firmware option and you should be ok.

The standard firmware version installs on the radio ok but the status remains at `no telemetry' with no luck of binding. The 64KB firmware version doesn't show up on the firmware list on the radio when trying to flash. Not sure why I am having such bother.

@@whitepatrick1998 the problem you are having is caused the incorrect software. I would suggest contacting RadioMaster Support and tell them what you have been trying and which receiver you are binding, have you tried both firmware versions and two different protocol receivers?

Kai, when you plug your radio in to the computer is your radio asking to select Joystick or USB, or nothing is coming up.

@@BartMorelas are you turning the external ExpressLRS module on by going into the model setup and choosing CRSF when selecting the external module? If you have put the incorrect firmware on the ExpressLRS module you more than likely bricked it?

Not that I am aware of because the TX12 only has the CC2500 chip. I have bound a Syma X5C-1 to my TX16s which has the 4 in 1 multi protocol module.

Hi Ken, it is difficult to tell just try the CC2500 and if your radio’s MPM shows No Telemetry in the version line of your model setup then flash the other.

Would you kindly advice, how to update the external module, because TX12 returns an error message? The OpenTX site has already a .bin for this: multi-stm-serial-aetr-v1.3.2.77.bin I took the TX12 for its high quality (instead of Jumper), and also a multimodule "IrangeX IRX4", because for now I need DSM2 and FlySky2 protocols. Strange choice, but it's done. They work together fine in PPM mode, when the IRX4 uses its rear mechanical switch to choose the protocols and takes PPM from the transmitter. But I cannot choose a protocol inside the transmitter, it demands to update the external module. And generally, it would be fine to update it. When I lodaded a right file and tried the sequence to update the external, it returned an "Error" message. Could you give me some reference to move on?

You should be able to flash the external module by downloading the firmware putting it on your SDCard but makes sure you match the channel mapping with openTX.

hi bill i have a Radiomaster tx 12 linked with a Beta 85x v2 Futaba reciver. There are inverted commands.Selecting the Reverse button only the throttle control works correctly. The others remain reversed.What should i do thanks

Hi Laura, you should not have to reverse the mixes because your receiver is connected to the 85X flight controller which is expecting to receive normal Chanel inputs from your radio. Set your radio back to normal as if you have set up a basic model then plug your drone in to Betaflight and check under the receiver options and check your channels are moving. You may have the incorrect channel mapping. Check if the channels are moving in Betaflight and that each stick corresponds to the correct function roll yaw etc. Please let me know how you get on.

@@laurapedroni5675 you need to download and install Betaflight and then connect your drone by USB to your computer. Then hit the connect button and go to the receiver.

No the TX12 has a CC2500 chip which cannot bind to the Hubsan protocol. You would need to plug a 4 in 1 module into the JR bay of the TX12.

Hi Alexis, no you will never get the FlySky or DSMX protocols on the TX12 because it only has the CC2500 chip which does not support those protocols. If you want to see the updates go to this link and it will show you. github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/releases This will show you all the updates including the 4-in-1 module updates as well. The developers make adjustments to currently available protocols whic can be important so it is worth updating your multi protocol module.

Hi Alan, it will update your internal multi protocol module with the latest protocols available for your module. Just make sure you download the correct firmware for your radio. TX12 has less protocols than the TX16S.
