Hello again. This is your upstate neighbor who found you on the mesh map. I think that was back in Spring. I remembered you this morning, and if you are still setup I have had a decent Yagi on a Station G2 for several weeks now. I could certainly use some elevation, but we do what we can. Anyway, I haven't seen you since (I don't think), but maybe Double Clutch is in your node list.

What about GMRS? Similar properties to CB radio, repeaters can give good coverage for hand held radios, uhf antennas are much smaller than CB or HF ham, and a non technical untested licence covers your whole family.

I did not recommend GMRS due to it's lack of range without repeaters. You don't want to base you emergency comms on a radio that is dependent on local third party system to get out.

CB radios are now made using FM instead of the old AM modes. This makes the CB radios MUCH quieter than they used to be. Most of the hiss and pop and white noise is gone from CB now.

ive got one and I think ive heard maybe three people on it on the FM side LOL its still new in the USA been around for several years in Europe. Traffic will pick up once old radios die and truckers swap out their old stuff. The new radios will still have AM FM and SSB.
