FINALLY! my god ive been waitin for u guys to do an episode on robb for years...most people laugh at me when i tell them robb is my favorite character from the whole series...they always say "but how? he wasnt even alive for more then 1 2 books blah blah blah" and i just tell them i liked everything that robb STOOD FOR...the fathers son, trying to make a difference in the world with all the responsbility on his shoulders once his own father died ...and some people dont realize that HE wanted jon snow to be his heir if he were to die even tho caitlyn tried to convince him not to do it...that tells u all u need to know about robb once he made Jon his heir, he loved his step brother and he finally realized it when push came to shove

YOU get laughed at? My favorite character in all the books is Victarion, and my favourite book A Feast for Crows (obviously because that's the book in which Vic was introduced in). I get searing, judgmental, you must be a half-wit, "you must not really understand what the books are about, Jinglebell," looks. I get that it's a big anti-war epic. I get that it deals with the quantification/compare-contrast of justice and vengeance. I get that uhm, other complex and beautiful ideas are also discussed and shown within the books (Septon Meribald is my 5th favourite character in the books, I swear to God, I'm not an asshole (*all the time*)). It's just that sometimes, when I'm reading an A Song of Ice and Fire book, I simply just want to sit down on my reading chair, put on (softly) a bit of David Bowie on in the background, and read about THE LORD CAPTAIN OF THE IRON FLEET FALCON PUNCHING A DUDE TO DEATH WITH HIS FUCKING, FUCKED UP, MOTHERFUCKING VOLCANIC ARM OF DOOOOOOM!!! Now ...I ask ya ...is that really SO wrong of me, heh?

I am so in love with your videos guys. Everything about them. The presentation, the insight, the detail. And, if im being perfectly candid, they double as great bedtime background noise. Both of your voices are so soothing and hypnotic when i'm tired, yet when i'm awake they command my attention. I've never noticed a voice that is in no way boring or monotone, yet is so good at making me fall asleep, lol. And of course, that is all but a mere cherry on top of the amazing ASOIAF content :) Thank you guys so much for taking so much time for us. I hope you know how truly appreciated your work is. Every time i refresh my subscription page, i say a mini prayer in my head, hahaha. Maybe not a prayer, but instead of "no whammys, no whammys,", it's more like "new RW video please, new RW video please."

If Joe Magician is right about Robb's future, you'll need a part three and maybe four ;) After listening to this stream, I feel it's not over, too much was built up for his story to be over. "The king of winter! The king in the north!" will make for some interesting reflection upon a re-read after all is over if it goes as Joe said. More tragic in a way, for all of the north. And the implications as for who the Others are and why they are coming south become quite interesting.

@1:46:00 - re: no interbreeding between Starks and Boltons, it's interesting that Ramsay and fArya is an attempt to make it seem so, and my latest pet theory is that Ned's brother Brandon, who, like Littlefinger (against whom he dueled), was fostered with two sisters and definitely had sexual relations with one (Barbrey), might, unlike Littlefinger, have also had not only sex, but a bastard child with the other (Bethany), thus making Domeric Bolton not a Bolton at all but a Stark/Ryswell, hence his un-Boltonlike decency and his noted riding skills, which are favorably compared to Lyanna's.
@RadioWesteros8 жыл бұрын
I am on board with that theory :) -- LG
@sertorrhenclegane8 жыл бұрын
While I like this theory, I think we could thank Lord Redfort for Domeric's decency. In fact, reading A Dance with Dragons, I got the sense that Roose was actually rather proud how his son turned out.

Loved the episode, but I disagree with the two of you on one particular issue: Cat's fear that Jon would somehow usurp Robb's Lordship is not rational in this context. If anything, it reinforces the fact that, while she married into the Stark family, she never truly understood them or their ways. Martin drops enough hints about it: from the fact that Cat has to have the heat pumping into the room while Ned opens the window to let in the cold air, to the fact that Cat never really feels comfortable in the Gods Wood. Even a cursory examination of the history of House Stark would have imparted a rather important bit of knowledge: unlike the Targaryens, the Starks simply don't turn on each other. Whether bastard or trueborn, or locked in a legitimate debate over the right of succession, the Starks don't betray each other. Going back to Torrhen Stark (the King Who Knelt), we find out that he had a bastard brother named Brandon Snow. When Torrhen was planning on fighting Aegon, Brandon volunteered to lead a suicide mission to kill the dragons. When Torrhen decided to bend the knee, it was Brandon that rode into the Targaryen camp, and spent the evening negotiating the terms of his brother's declaration of fealty. Brandon could have easily undercut his brother with Aegon. He could even claimed that Torrhen intended to lay a trap for Aegon and kill him, promising to prevent this and ensure the loyalty of the North if they named him Warden...but Brandon never attempted to betray Torrhen in the slightest. After that, you have the time of the She-Wolves. I believe it was three different women who each had a child with a legitimate claim to Winterfell. Rather than divide the North to stake their claim to Winterfell by force, the mothers worked together. They shared a regency or stewardship of the North until their children came of age. At that point, the succession was handled peacefully, and everyone was united under the new Lord of Winterfell. The last example I'll bring up is Artos Stark. Lord William Stark fell in battle to King Beyond the Wall Raymun Redbeard when he attempted to stop a Wildling invasion. After William fell, his younger brother Artos took command, killed Raymun, and ended the Wildling invasion. Even in the North, known for its traditions and loyalty, under those circumstances Artos likely could have taken the Lordship. He never tried. He immediately saw to it that power passed to William's son Edwyle. The point of this abbreviated history lesson is that there's nothing in the history of House Stark that corresponds to the Blackfyre rebellions or the Dance of the Dragons. In fact, there's ample evidence that when faced with similar circumstances, the Starks act in the exact opposite way. Either Cat didn't care enough to learn even the most fundamental lessons about the family that she had married into, or she simply couldn't grasp the fact that the Starks simply aren't like some other noble families. In addition to these facts, there's the nature of Jon's upbringing to consider. Ned never tried to hide Jon away or keep him at arms length. Ned raised Jon as his son amongst his trueborn children, and Jon's siblings treated him like (and thought of him as) a brother. The only one who was the least bit distant with him was Sansa, and that was only because she was parroting her mother. Jon had no reason to resent his siblings, nor any thought of trying to steal their legacy (as if anyone in the North would have accepted such a thing). In fact, that only person that Jon resented was Catelyn, and that's because she went out of her way to give him ample reason. So, no, Catelyn's fear that Jon would somehow supplant her trueborn children was not a rational fear in this context.
@seanmac17935 жыл бұрын
Yeah i think that when you grow up in a place where everybody is a liar it's difficult to unseat that notion. One thing that drives me the wrong way is that Ned never explained Jon parentage to Cat. I really do genuinely believe that while she might not be happy about it she would understand because for all of her faults Cat seems to have a deep love for her family and would understand why Ned had to do it.
@DandreRich4 жыл бұрын
@@seanmac1793 While you make a great point, Ned is a North Man and true his House as well as Cat. Her upbringing was Family, Duty, Honor, and that will win over her train of thought, same as Ned, she is in a position her where her upbringing doesn't allow her to see the full picture. js

It's the same whether you stream it from our site (via our provider Acast), download the mp3 from our website or from iTunes or some other podcatcher, or watch it here. The difference is mainly going to be in the ads, and format of course. Some patrons get early release which is available in video or mp3 and is also ad free. Same product though.
