Thanks so much. I have been waiting for a video on how to do headlight wiring and indicators for a Runner, so this is really helpful and gives me a good start. Nice work on how you mounted the headlight, I was puzzled on how to mount the motorcycle type brackets. Great job 👏

Yeah, I looked for quite awhile to find a good/inexpensive single mount headlight or bracket (not a ton out there) until I just decided on putting it there. If you need any help let me know!

Cool. You probably could of used a voltage step down transformer to get the 48V headlight to 12V. That way it would function with the stock headlight control. I’ve been looking into doing that for a brighter 12V light.

Yes, you're right. I just didn't want to mess with trying to hook up to the bike's battery. Maybe if I switch things up in the future or mod a different ebike I get in the future.

Thank you for the comment! Sorry, I'll add those to the description. The bullet connections I used were from a local Lowes, just basic ones that should be on amazon or any other hardware store. - www.lowes.com/pd/Utilitech-12-Count-Bullet-Wire-Connectors/999953098 . The bar clamps (2pack) were from Amazon - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0791NB4FM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The wiring was just laying around my garage, but it was just basic copper stranded 20 gauge for most of it. I tried looking for my notes for the wiring but I guess I threw them away. Apologies.

Nice setup. I like the light. I'm thinking about buying the Runner Plus because it's a step through. Can you remove the rear seat to support a bag on the rack? Can you replace the saddle with a C9 seat? Thanks.
@ElectricRidesUT
@ElectricRidesUT Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes, the rear passenger seat comes off with 4 bolts, at that point the rear rack is the same as the regular RadRunner 2 and you can throw on a pannier or rear rack bag. The rear rack tubing is a bit thicker than a standard rack so you can run into issues finding a pannier bag with clips large enough to work. You can definitely replace the seat - I find that most RadRunner riders remove the stock seat and go with something more comfortable, you'll need to replace the seatpost as well. I made a video about it if you want to check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZ_EgYRtmNqJd80

Really like the idea with the Paracord, WOW!! that looks more neat and professional doing it that way, I think I might use this idea when I'm doing the wiring on my ebike when I get it... just a quick question though, how many wires can you fit through the Paracord?
@ElectricRidesUT
@ElectricRidesUT Жыл бұрын
It really depends on how thick the paracord is and the gauge of the wiring. The thicker battery wiring can really only fit 2 max with standard paracord while the wiring I used for a lot of the lower power wiring from this set up I can fit 3 or more depending on the wire gauge.
@NicolaMs007
@NicolaMs007 Жыл бұрын
I am thinking bout doing this, am in the process now, my bike looks good with the standard light which is bright, but what am thinking about with switch is the same as yours is use that (headlight) for the halo lights, and leave the original light for the ebike battery....am just waiting on a Step Down converter for my RYOBI 1+ 18V 5ah Battery. which I am also gonna be using a bus bar for positive and negative terminals, as well as led flasher relay for the turn signals within the tail, brake light assembly, the other turn signals are sequential and DON"T need a flasher relay.

this was a very good video but I really just want to get one of those massive motorcycle headlights but I really want it to run off of the main battery. do you know of any product or way of doing that?
@ElectricRidesUT
@ElectricRidesUT 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks I really appreciate it! Yes, it is possible however, you'll need to tap into the battery power somehow, usually by soldering a connection to the battery tray wiring. Then you either have to find components that run at 48 volts (stock Rad battery voltage) or put a DC to DC converter to step down from 48v to 12v. There's a channel, ElectricPower, on KZbin that has a few videos about wiring up headlights/turn signals that way.

Do you charge the 12v battery separately or are you able to draw from the main battery? If not, how long does a charge last?
@ElectricRidesUT
@ElectricRidesUT Жыл бұрын
It's separate - I didn't want to draw off the main battery. Since the battery is pretty big and LED lighting uses such little power that I could run the headlight for days and it would still only need to charge it every so often.

Thanks for putting up this video, really helped me with my RR+ lighting setup. I did have a question though: I purchased the same headlight, but can’t seem to get the clamp to fit properly on the handlebars (smallest clamp setting is still too big for handlebars). I tried shims but no dice. Any advice?? TIA
@ElectricRidesUT
@ElectricRidesUT 2 жыл бұрын
I had to use pretty thick shims for it to hold. I settled on taking an old rubber tube/hose and wrapping that around the handlebar tubing to clamp the brackets snug onto that.

Hi great video and lights set up ! Can you tell me what is th name of plug that goes into 12 volt battery pack I need advice on connecting one or two whip lights to a RadPower Radrunner 1 electric bike. It should be easy red positive, black negative if there is a yellow and another black wire where do they connect? If you have a link to a plug that goes into 12 volt battery pack, and the other end connects to whip lights it would be greatly appreciated.
@ElectricRidesUT
@ElectricRidesUT 9 ай бұрын
Sorry, forgot to add those connectors to the list of parts, added now. What I purchased was this - amzn.to/3SguIpT Most 12v lighting systems that I've seen have just the standard red/black connections. I would assume that if it's a special lighting unit it may have an extra wire(s) that might be associated with the control of the light, such as changing the color or flashing frequency, etc. Though it would depend on the light that you're looking at and if it has a control unit built in or it is something that you'll have to provide or if the LED strip inside is even capable of those type of controls.

@ElectricRidesUT

The switch I used has different grouping of wires (all positive) and 1 main black/negative wire. It took a bit of trial and error. The amazon listing has a wiring diagram for the switch that breaks it down enough to get started. I plugged everything into the 12v battery with a simple 12v/5a pigtail adapter
