Little story for you....... My Uncle used to be MOD police at both Greenham & Molesworth, him and his friends use to collect sausages from the canteen and as they walk round doing their patrols they used to throw the sausages over the fences for the protesters vegetarian dogs. He said the dogs loved them lol

The white "missile" casing you were sat on is a "Jumbo Float" used for Minesweeping at sea. I was a minewarfare specialist in the RN. Quite what it's doing there is a puzzle, unless it was kept in storage there to be forwarded to a combat zone where a land base was to established for stores, in support of a floatilla of minesweepers

Wearing surplus military gear can mean it might have Depleted uranium on it. Same for surplus bags and traces of explosive - which gets picked up at airports.

Hi Guys, just for info, holding the geiger counter to the brickwork - it isn't too surprising that you're getting slightly more counts - often times the clay used in some bricks can hold natural radioactivity. i have a sensitive pancake geiger counter and it can detect such things, albeit at low levels, but i wouldn't expect that geiger counter to pick too much up, so perhaps a tiny bit of contamination is from a local site, but i think unlikely.

I think you'll find that the older Geiger counter from the 80's won't be very sensitive as the sensing tube inside has a limited lifetime, interesting video though, makes you wonder what else has been covered up over the years !

The PDRM82 measures exposed dose in Centigrays Per Hour, that is A LOT!!. Don't expect any readings unless you plan to visit the inside of Chernobyl reactor 4. They can be modified to read background but they are not very good since the power on self test will no longer work.

Chris is a great comedian I remember also the greenham common protests on Tv back in the 1980s nothing was ever said in the media about this incident then I guess it was still under the official secrets act then

remember rad levels change due to level of soil, 1 cm depth a year. so if it happened in the 50's you need to do a core sample of 69cm then check at that depth :)

You can't put that up against the brick and take that as a measurement, that'll definitely be an incorrect measurement. It's normal for fiestaware some pottery glaze coatings and brick to radiate more than slightly higher level than background

The green ribbed thing that smelled of waste water is a biodisk /sewage works and the pipe would be the discharge from it. it would be used for domestic sewage treatment for some part of the site

You don't seem to use a map to create a search pattern. You don't seem to use any method we will use loosley as scientific research to collect data. You had a very interesting subject that could have been wisely documented.

"Windscale" is a better story and it's true! I'm the last person who would defend governments covering up a "nuclear incident" but knowing a good bit about nuclear bomb construction and handling I have serious doubts about this particular story!
