I'm sure that some believed this is all going downhill now for Rafa at this point, losing in the 1R of AO after 8 straight years of at least reaching quarters, and after a very disappointing 2015, which turned out to be Rafa's only season between 2005 and 2022 without a single big title. And followed by another injury at the FO, missing Wimbledon, losing to Fognini at the US Open after leading two sets to love, by that point I'm sure a lot of people thought that Nadal is done for, yet in 2017 he came back to prove everyone wrong, reached AO finals, won FO and USO, won Monte-Carlo and Madrid, and clinched year-end No.1

By the end of this match Verdasco had an insane read on Nadals serve. Their H2h is strongly in Nadal's favour but from 2012 it's actually only 4-3 to Nadal and became much closer. Seems Verdasco finally figured out some stuff from 2012.

Rafa should not played Djokovic in 2015 Monte Carlo,french open ,Beijing ,atp finals and 2016 doha ,indian wells and Rome. He should selected Tokyo in both 2013 and 2015 instead of Beijing to secure 2 titles and protecting his h2h
