Regarding the question posed at the 14:43 time mark - just wanted to point out an analogy to mathematics, where it is possible to have a bounded, but infinite set. In light of Mrs. Nisha's and Mr. Vishnudev's responses, I feel like the bounds of carnatic music are its foundations & roots, but within those bounds, the carnatic practitioner's quest is to dive deeper and deeper and extract what is yet to have been extracted! The possibilities are endless 😊

I like the comment by Rithvik Raja paraphrasing “it is important to learn from negative comments but it is more important how the comment is delivered “. On the same note, I think the musician in a concert presents visual along with music. As carnatic music itself has boundaries not to digress into other forms, the musician physical presence shouldn’t be distraction by him or her in dress code. All listeners are not listening from CD or tape but listening in a visual concert. A true musician delivers not only the music but also how he or she presents visually and musically not to feed to base feelings.

Nice talk show on a relevant topic today. I was surprised that regarding dress code None of the artists talked about decorum on stage, only about their comfort. Both can be addressed together. Regarding announcement of ragas, it can be done at the end of alapana or at the end of the song for short numbers. It will satisfy both sections.

According to me it is analysis paralysis. Deliberate Tinkering with tradition has to be shunned. Carnatic music is like our universe that has no boundaries. Any exploratory concert will still be a subset of the overall musical domain. Balance is of essence.

Who is responsible for kutcheris going out of temples? The present artists? No. Those responsible for driving out kutcheris from temple premises and the related activities are HR& CE. after temples were taken over by HR&CE , all such activities stopped because of Political ideologies ruling the state.

My teacher always asked me to stop singing light music, especially with karoke. She used to advise me always that light music would affect carnatic learning and gamakas aspects. I don't know if it's true or not.

Art form with the identity of 'Classical' is a boundary in mind space and experiential knowledge for all the Stakeholders of the art form. Classical is a form delivering intellectual pleasure and recall pleasure of the first experience with almost the same intensity. Chitta, highest level of consciousness of experiential pleasure with potency for bliss, a rare of the rarest unified consciousness, within and without. Mind is One but, experiences created the identities of Manas, Aham, Buddhi and Chitta based on Happiness:Joy, temporal; Pleasure, lasting in time and duration, Bliss, everlasting (truly, conceptual, not experiential), Delivering Joy and pleasure, seeking bliss are the boundaries for the performing arts. Deriving Joy and pleasure and seeking bliss are the boundaries for rasikatva, connoisseurs.

It was a nice program. Many questions from enthusiastic youngsters. Good interaction by all singers who are more from modern era. One disturbing observation is Rithvik Raja was always sitting with legs crossed in spite of sitting at higher level exposing part of his legs many times. All others ok in cludimg 3 other gents and all ladies. I feel he needs correction .

Id say you dont have to say the Raga at the start itself and let the guessers take their shot. If you're doing an alapana, after Alapana you can reveal like many do. Ranjani Gayathri Madams for example. Otherwise if no Alapana or improvization for that particular piece, after singing the piece they can say, 'This Raga I've sung now.' This way, both, guessers as well as the ones unaware who wish to know will be satisfied.
