I have probably shared this before but several years ago after watching a cleaning video I was reading some of the comments. One woman talked about being homeless and longing to have a home to clean. That brought me up short. Another thing that has helped me change my attitude is, after a spell of my chronic illness acting up, and being sidelined for days, I am grateful to be able to do my household chores. It is wonderful to be able to be productive and contribute to our family’s life. I recognize that we are not to value ourselves because of our productivity. But it is difficult to feel like a burden to the people around you. I might be in that position someday and hope that God will give me the grace to handle that well. Meanwhile I find satisfaction and contentment caring for my little world. Thank you, Jennifer.

We've recently added a ring system. I didn't realize how rushed, hunched over, and stressed I look until I rewatched the recorded clips from the doorbell. Wow, what an eye opener! I am about to be 55 years old and don't want to carry myself in this manner another year.

Rage cleaning has been really rare for me. I am far more likely to not clean at all when I am annoyed/angry about cleaning. "Ha! I'll show you! Look what happens when what I do doesn't get done!" Sometimes it works but usually it just gives me time to calm down. The children have left and created an empty nest and I am retired, so I now clean whenever I feel like it and it is surprisingly regularly. Up to my mother's standard? No one could (or should) meet that. But my standard is high enough for me. "Clean enough to be healthy, messy enough to be happy." Your advice is wonderful, as always. Your content always leaves me calm and fulfilled.

Jennifer, I appreciate all of your videos, but those that remind us to take the high road, be magnanimous, remain unbothered, stand tall, “hack the system” for our good, etc. are my absolute favorite. I actually have a funny story about a video that you did last year about being magnanimous. I was working with a very unhappy, judgmental bully. I was praying through it (everyday, all day). I actually considered quitting. And then you posted your video….I would listen to it on my way to work (everyday for about two months 😂). Can you believe, this person (who was over me) quit! And guess what? I now have her position. Your five tips that day were perfect, and might I add, Godly. Thank you on behalf of your subscribers for the brilliant reminders. Have a beautiful day!

I think rage cleaning is an age thing. Children produce anxiety in us, as do career ambition, lack of money, unhappy relationships etc…. These days, in my sixties, I am as stoic as a Greek philosopher. My grandchildren entirely disrupt my house and I am so grateful!

I’m pregnant with my third daughter right now and my oh my, has it been rough. I had the most horrible morning sickness, I would literally have a towel in my mouth so I wouldn’t swallow my saliva. Gross, I know. But I just felt like I couldn’t even get up to wash dishes or throw a load in the washer, much less fold and put away. And then, second trimester came around and I started feeling better, and I felt so grateful to be able to get up and clean my home and bathe my girls and have them smell so nice and clean. And then my belly started growing, and I have been rage cleaning 😂 I have been watching your videos for years now, but I had forgotten all about the wisdom you have shared, and I thought I had taken in. Thank you for this refreshing reminder. I know the Lord doesn’t want me to serve my family in an angry way. We are an example of our Lord Jesus Christ in the way we serve our families. It’s a service to Him. I need to always go to the Word and to place Him first. He created the Sabbath for a reason. He wants us to rest too. Pray for me y’all. God decided to entrust me with another daughter, and I have no idea how I’m supposed to do it all. God bless every single one of you and thank you Jennifer for sharing your wisdom with all of us ❤

I can relate! I have 3 girls and a 5month old boy. Something that has helped me in times of overwhelm is instead of “I HAVE to clean/cook/organize etc” it’s “ I GET to clean/cook/organize etc” What an incredible gift of getting to raise children, especially today with all the nonsense noise. God bless your sweet family!

I have never rage cleaned. Cleaning and organizing is therapy for me. With my chronic illness I have a system of my deep cleaning a room one day a week so I don't over do my myself and I have daily tasks so the home is clean. One thing that has helped me in cleaning, is to practice mindfulness. When you are doing a task, pay attention to it to make it more enjoyable, like when doing the dishes, enjoy the color of your dishes and the pattern, enjoy the smell of the detergent to wash them, enjoy the feel of the material your dishes are made of. When folding laundry same thing, enjoy the smell of detergent and fabric softener, enjoy the feel of the different fabrics, look at the colors and designs. Those kind of things help us to slow down and to be more mindful. This makes a huge difference not just with cleaning and homemaking but with life as well. ❤

A couple of months ago I broke bones in my spine. I used to rage clean quite often before then. Since having a broken back with 4 kids to take care of, including an infant and feeling so helpless, I have been really appreciating every little task that I am now physically able to do. I still can't do everything, but the injury really gave me a new perspective and appreciation for everyday mundane tasks. I love this, thank you for the calm you always bring to everyday chores. ❤

Carol, that is tough! We have a dog, and as a pup he loved chewing through things. We decided to take him to puppy training school, and that helped so much! Also, know that as they grow older, they will calm down significantly! If they are walked and exercised regularly, that also helps, as they will then rest much easier for the rest of the day. As dogs, or any pets for that matter, they only know us, and we decide everything for them. When I look at it that way, it gives me a sense of kindness and gratitude of little fellow in my life.

As you said this, I also thought that we can appreciate our own work and bask in the restored order and cleanliness. I often like to walk back through the rooms I have cleaned to appreciate my work. Cleaning and organizing bring me peace and if I am angry, overwhelmed, or frustrated I start to clean so I feel a sense of control and harmony. The intro to this video made me chuckle. When I clean I will often call it "rage cleaning" but it might be more appropriate to call it "speed cleaning" due to the nature of it. We have had 3 kids in 2.5 years so I will speed clean to get things done. Our oldest who is 13 says this version of me is the "Cleaning Gremlin" because I crawl around scrubbing the walls, baseboards, etc that might get neglected for a week or two between cleaning. While the work still must get done, my husband hired a bi-weekly housekeeper to help keep me from stooping to this level while cleaning. Haha! Luckily there's no rage associated but offloading a list of tasks I haven't finished to the housekeeper has kept the "gremlin" at bay.

I'm pleased to report that I haven't raged cleaned in a long time. I found my trigger for it was typically clutter that had built up that I had put off taking care of. I would rage because I hated myself for putting it off, for letting it get this way, the fact that I couldn't do what I needed to do because all the junk was in my way Or simply the fact that I hadn't donated it yet. I find taking Care of my basic Everyday cleaning and house maintenance tasks to be therapeutic. ❤ Always enjoy your videos

Cleaning and resetting the house is my happy place. If I am angry about something else, I absolutely cannot clean! I will usually take some time off and go visit TJMaxx just to look around or I go weed the garden. Now that my children are on their own, if I don't want to do a particular chore--I don't do it until last. But it does help to tackle those types first. You are so funny, Jennifer! When I get in a tiff with my hubby, I try to anger clean, but I just can't do it.😅 I totally understand that perspective though.

@@kimalonzo3363 What a difficult and painful situation! After so long with this family I imagine you've grown fond of them, especially the boy you've cared for, so not so easy to simply quit and/or to sue. (Plus I suspect the grandfather situation isn't anything the family planned for, either.) Still, you *must* take care of yourself first. Please insist on a meeting with both the mother and father to discuss either more compensation (if you are willing to take on this huge new responsibility caring for grandfather) or hiring a caregiver for grandfather. Caring for someone in his condition is even more demanding than caring for a child, in my opinion. I am sorry you're in this tough position and I wish you well.

I'd like to offer another idea here, as a mom who now has grown boys (ages 22 and 26). It's really easy to slip into at least frustrated cleaning, if not rage cleaning, and letting it show. But we, as moms, need to remember that our kids are learning everything from us. They are also learning that "this is the normal behavior of a mother." And as they go out as young adults, even if they aren't even aware of it: we are teaching them the attitudes and temperament of a future mate that embraces anger as a way of expressing: I need help. So, as a mom who is setting an example every minute of the day (yep, it's an amazing job and they are watching) you need to model the habits and attitudes that you want your children - both daughters AND sons - to absorb and take into their lives. And I'm not being dramatic. I'm looking back and now, I'm seeing myself and my husband in my boys. Small things; big things. It's in there! My son has a very serious girlfriend and I'm very sure an engagement is coming soon. She joked that she had to teach him how to properly wash the pots and pans. I sincerely apologized: "I'm Sorry. I didn't teach him that, I'm afraid." And she said, "That's fine. I did NOT have to teach him how to be kind. You taught him that." I burst into tears. What an extraordinary compliment. I'm glad he was watching me be kind. :) What does rage cleaning teach? Let's reach outside of ourselves and give our children the gift of a better lesson.

I found everything was a little more bearable if one room (in my case the bedroom) was in proper order. It's very hard with busy lives, work and children, but everyone needs a sanctuary.

Rage cleaning rock bottom for me happened when I accidentally put not one, but two, disposable diapers in the washing machine and ran the full cycle. You don’t want to know!! I had twin infants and was exhausted. It was a feat to even DO a load of laundry. Ugh. I learned that moving too fast with my mind locked in frustration mode would only lead to such mistakes, multiplying the original stress.

Jennifer, thank you for sharing your excellent tips. I usually rage clean when I am frustrated with myself for not getting enough accomplished or procrastinating. Thank you for being such an inspiring role model for us all. I would like to try Blueland soon. The dishwasher tablets we have been using aren't working so well for us, even though they are natural.

I so wanted Blueland dishwasher tabs to work for me - purchased a year’s worth! But over about two months they began to leave a film inside my dishwasher and eventually on my dishes. I tried dishwasher cleaner, vineger etc. but no luck. Had to go back to regular dishwasher detergent. I really wanted them to work but unfortunately, they didn’t for me :( Love your channel Jennifer!!!

I am taking some time to really single task when cleaning. I always used to have podcast on, etc, which is fine for sure, but enjoying the process without diversion is also very nice. I found out that talking to my mom while cleaning was not giving her my full attention, and it bothered her.

I feel that way, bothered as you put it, when someone on the phone is doing other things. I would rather end the call and plan to visit in person. I’m sure it has to do with temperament. But I know from experience that I am not as actively listening when trying to do something else. It’s so good you are hearing your mom’s heart on this.

She only asked what I was doing...but that spoke loud and clear. I have spent a lot of time thinking about my maternal grandmother, whi lived to 99 and 1/2. She dpoke only French...my kids spoke only English. She was so precious to them and they to her. The gift of presence was so evident from her. She did one thing at a time and sat down to listen. She spoke little and listened a lot.

Do you have tips for cleaning with little people? I dont know how to be not frustrated when my sweet boys are (unintentionally) hijacking much of my work. I want to teach them how to do this stuff but theyre going to be clumsy and not understand all the elements of any chore...im not trying to raise perfectionists. But wow, it would be so nice to just get things done!

Sometimes I light candles, turn on some light jazz, and make myself something delicious to drink while cooking dinner and/or cleaning the kitchen afterwards. I call it "seducing myself into cleaning." 😆

Another helpful look at how we can make the best of all we do. Thankyou. Jennifer, I followed the link to the Stoic you recommended. I listened to two videos. I was concerned by his swearing and thought that wasn’t in line with who you are? I know we mustn’t throw the baby out with the bath water but it seemed unnecessary and detracted from his integrity and suggest yours a little too. Just be aware. I also wonder if all the daily wisdom you and we all need might better come from the scriptures you confess to be central to your life. I write not to be critical and think you do a great job and Thankyou for that. People are influenced by you dear lady and as you become more succesful ( however that is defined), be very aware you don’t compromise your Christian heart. Very kindest regards. Irene ( Scottish follower). Xx🌷

Im having a dilema connoisseur community. My home has a sow bug infestation. Theyre not harmful to anyone but often crawling about as it gets warm. Does anyone know a diy to get rid of these bugs?! I dont want to pay a exterminator if i can try to do something first.
