As busy women, we sometimes wear our "busyness" as a badge of honor. I am still , at age 70, trying to stop thinking that I need to cross off everything on my "to do list"! Take care of yourself ladies!

Yeesssss!!!!! When did " over busy" become SUCH a badge of honor for women?! Was it the 20's? The 40's? The 80's? I remember my mom being so busy that she wouldn't eat and it really wrecked her health, physical, mental and even spiritual!

Growing up all stores, except some gas stations and grocery stores (only food was sold), were closed on Sundays. I think this helped families rest. We had a slow, calm day together. I miss those days.

The game changer for me and resting was when I studied The Sabbath in the Bible! It’s incredible how our Heavenly Father planned this for us and also was the example to rest after creation ❤ an entire day to not work has been life changing for me. It’s almost hard to not work but I made a list of things that relax me and try to have extra family time- I prep Fridays and clean our home and rest Saturdays😊

BASIC - that's my word for 2025. My hubby and I want to get back to basics. Now in our mid-forties, we have realized we were happiest when I didn't take on too much, want too much, use tech too much, plan too much, think about food too much! I too have the same productivity problem and always looked at rest as being lazy. Not true! For me, I have discovered adult coloring books and I really just love them.

Along the same lines of slowing down and being more peaceful living, I’m simplifying even more than I already have… which looks like: being on social media less (no scrolling!), unfollowing unnecessary accounts. Simplifying every aspect of my routine…capsule meal plans, workout routines, entertainment, friends/family, and of course wardrobe!! Quality over quantity is my mantra for 2025!! 🎉

Since I have started Intermittent Fasting, I stopped drinking coffee totally since I must have sugar with coffee. I now drink tea, and love it. I even go to Afternoon Teas with a friend. I have learned to drink many different teas. They are amazing. I also started exercising again. After stop doing Yoga which I did for many years, I am now doing Pilates and it is amazing how stiff my body is. And another thing I am doing for my Inner Peace is committing to Prayer. Prayer rests my Inner Sou. Thanks again for all your tips.

A very good plan for 2025. As far as I'm concerned my résolution for 2025 is also " trouver la paix intérieure". I'm always in the rush to do things and I don't find time to rest. So, I want for this year, be present each day and not think at all the tasks I have to do later. Be in the present moment even I organize my days. I also want to live more outside : walk, pic nic, garden. And read 50 books. Take this time for me

If you don’t rest, your body will force you to. I learned this when I had a stroke at 30. Right now, I’m being reminded of that. I’m on bed rest at 36 with a geriatric pregnancy after baby loss and I’m used to doing so much and, now, I have to do almost everything lying down. I’m very thankful for the care I’m receiving from my husband and a friend and this has been so good in changing my perspective and humbling me.

I heard a helpful message from Dr. Josh Axe right before Christmas. “Let go of perfection.” I’m the oldest in a large family and have a very strong type A personality. I love making sure everything is perfectly done and nothing gets missed. All December, I chose to prioritize sleep and others and I have no regrets. Instead of staying up late to work on projects I desperately wanted to do, I would just go to sleep. Instead of doing projects in my own little home where I live alone, I would stop what I was doing to go help family for a few hours. Thankfully, I made it to Christmas without catching any viruses and I got to be such a blessing to others by having energy and covering for those who were weak or sick. (Note: the children I nanny did give me the flu a couple days after Christmas, but what do you expect when someone with an infection repeatedly coughs in your face? 🙈) My point is that it was hard to let go of my lists, but the good health was worth it.

@careyj4471Күн бұрын
Hi Jennifer- I laughed out loud when you said “plotting my comeback” because I do the same thing 😂 I have had pneumonia many times over the years and have found the recovery takes longer than my comeback plans. When I started to feel better but I get going like the Energizer Bunny but then “hit the wall” or worse, relapse. So now I alternate resting activity like one hour and one hour off. And if I still feel tired after my 1 hour rest then I stay in bed and hope and pray that the next day I can get back to alternating. But if I am tired all day for 2days then I give myself a pep talk “ok I had one “lazy” day, let’s put that in the bank and make sure tomorrow is more active than not.”
@goddessmel85183 сағат бұрын
Spending 10 minutes EVERY DAY doing something active is my goal for this year. That's the floor, not the ceiling, and is designed to convince my brain that I can manage to move each day, 10 minutes is not that much of my whole day, and hopefully build from there. Also building active commuting into my routine - so cycling or walking to catch the bus - rather than relying on driving / my husband chauffeuring me - to not just add more movement to my day but also live more sustainably by reducing my reliance on fossil fuels.

It's also so great that you are exercising and lifting weights! I truly love to exercise and running has been a big part of my daily routine for almost 40 years. On the beginning I forward myself to take daily 30 min naps and I could not believe the results. I can’t nap during the day anymore but I take time during the day to rest. Sometimes it means seat down, close my eyes and be aware of my body and my thoughts. I’m asking myself how am I feeling. Usually the body tells you what to get like herbal teas in your case and denies your regular habits. I love coffee too. But when I was sick-I couldn’t drink it because I simply did not want it. Just follow your body and you will be fine. It’s temporary.

Carving out self-care time where you do “nothing” is also setting a great example for your kids! 🙌. Feel better soon! 💖🙏

I just signed up for the trial at Trainwell (mostly because I have found all of your recommendations to be good quality). I have my first meeting with my trainer on Thursday so hoping 2025 will be my year of health!

So happy you are feeling better. Yes, a rare couple times over the years, I have been so sick that coffee was awful and I found that very strange, because I would rather miss food than my morning coffee. I found myself doing the same; thinking about all the things that I wanted to do when I was feeling better. I don't think that was a good idea and caused my body stress. Instead I made myself just relax and feel grateful that I could lay down and rest/sleep to get well. I need to really step up my exercise this year.

I’m glad you’re feeling better! I heard about Trainwell from you in August and signed up. I’m now at day 155! I do weight training three times a week. I’m not an exerciser either but I’ve been able to stick with this and I just signed up for a whole year. Meal prep is a goal of mine too. Good luck with your goals. I hope to hear an update as the year goes on.

Great video! I too read Dr. MIndy's book before you had her on your channel. I tried her way of fasting. It seemed to throw me off rhythm. I gained 8lbs back. I do better with a set daily fast as well. I am glad you said something about it because I thought something was wrong with me.

When I find myself rushing I ask myself why I am rushing as sometimes it’s just a habit I have gotten into and if there is no reason to rush I slow down and enjoy the moment. If there is a reason I am in hurry I ask myself what could i do differently next time to prevent having to rush, such as start task earlier etc (this is one thing I am doing to look after myself)
