I started season 4 with a blizzard build, and it's been treating me well so far. I've noticed that my ice spikes do more damage when casted from a blizzard avalanche proc. A lot of good things said here, though, that I'll have to try on my character 👍

With ice spike damage now affected by weapon damage, I've tested my level 100 blizzard build with a 925 staff vs 925 dagger/focus and the staff does consistently more damage than the dagger/focus.

Do you mean more damage per Ice Spike hit or more DPS overall? Also, where does it say that Ice Spike damage is affected by weapon damage? If individual Ice Spikes do more damage with the Glacial Aspect on the staff, that would be because the Aspect gets x2 by being on a 2-handed weapon, rather than x1.5 from being on an amulet no? Is there some update I missed?

Great build as always but I'd suggest one change: Swap out Lightning Spear for Ice Blades and slot it in place of frozen orb then take the Shredding Blades aspect. It helps greatly with cooldowns, helps to keep vulnerable applied more consistently and Shredding Blades gives just as much damage in the form of multiplicative vulnerable damage as you get from Inner Calm without the need to stand still. The amount of ice blades you can get to spawn also means you can take conjuration mastery for more damage, movespeed and even more mana regen.

​@@XGDARKVENOMSo in his guide he's using Inner Calm on his ring for the 30%x damage while standing still. What I've done in my version of the build is drop Inner Calm for Shredding Blades. I don't use Frozen Orb or Lightning Spear at all and instead use Ice Blades and the Ice Blades enchantment to apply vulnerable, help reduce cooldown and get the 30%x vulnerable damage from Shredding Blades. The extra points I put into Conjuration Mastery for additional damage, movespeed and mana regen per active blade which is a decent amount since the build uses so many cooldowns and spawns blades passively in addition to activating the skill. I may try to get a roll of lucky hit applies vulnerable on a piece of my gear as well just to increase the vulnerable uptime on large crowds but so far I haven't needed it. Hope this helps clarify.

Update: I tried this build just now (spent pretty much all my mats and gold) and i have to say its slower than the pit in terms of ad clear but I SHRED THE BOSS SO FAST! This was done on pit lvl 63. My stats are: max resilience/armor, 24% attack speed, 50% crit chance, 644% crit dmg, 31% cdr, 306% cold dmg, and 207% vulnerable dmg. Unfortunately I only got 1 proc of ice spike dmg temper and the rest were cold dmg and blizz dmg so it can be even better. Oh i didnt really have much more mana issues than on frozen orb either (abt the same) altho i also used a resourcefulness elixir

Have you tried lvl200 beast in the ice? I can't seem to deal any damage to it, while decimating elites in its surrounding area. I mostly have similar stats, except much lower critdmg. And I mostly invested in generic dmg mods, not cold ones - pretty sure it doesn't matter?

I'm not usually the best at these games but this build looks fun and I might try it. However atm I'm having fun going with just a pure fire build focusing on burning dot and the hydras+conjuration dmg and then incinerate, now keep in mind I'm not world level 4 yet or level 100 but seeing how fast the dot or well Hydras melt bosses (pun intended I suppose) is really fun as well as funny to see. Also helps a lot facing blood maidens since at least for me you can't sit still for one second without the flame shield or else you get one shot basically, so having the hydras do damage while you run around is pretty decent.

I'm new to Diablo, just hit level 50 and wanted to start grinding for gear before respec. I'm familiar with MMO games, so wondering if these gear pieces are specific ones you've grinded. Or would any type do and just need to get lucky with the traits on each piece? Also, when and how do you get leveled gear drop ? I'm level 50 but still only finding gear for level 42.

@@Alex-yx7sm I just tested it. Blue rose doesn't proc on Blizzard. Even though the wording is EXTREMELY misleading. Blizz has no lucky chance on hit, because it's a dot. So the damaging part is only with non binary skills i.e. skills that hit. What a fuckin shit tier game ffs. lol

Great video Josh! Always enjoy your approach to Sorcerer. I noticed that you are using tempering to generate poison and shadow damage to proc Tal Rasha's. Unfortunately Tal Rasha's tops out at 4 stacks. I saw this in the video. Your build has five types of damage but seems to top out at four stacks. Personally, I am trying make a ball lightning sorcerer that creates crackling energy which gets turns into lightning spears via (the passive skill) which proc winterglass. The build also has frozen orb as a passive. It seems to need high end gear with lots of mana generation per second and mana cost reduction. So far it is still a work in progress but I thought it was a quirky concept that you might enjoy taking a look at. Anyway... keep the videos coming!

It's not got poison & shadow to trigger 5 stacks, its got them because the only worthwhile things to put on the weapons in Ice Spikes are ice spike damage + lucky hit elemental damage, so you might as well have 2x the ease of proccing the 4th stack of Tal Rashas

Trying to find my way here. I have used the incinerate build my entire time so far. I am level 84 and just finished all the Brotherhood of Wolves rewards. So now it’s on to running nightmare dungeons until I can start master crafting. I can take down Grigoire and Varshan easily but Duriel still owns me. This build is too high for me to try yet, so I am wondering when I should switch Frozen Orbs build. Should I do that now or wait until I hit 100? I have all the uniques except the helmet so I can switch now, the question is should I?

Not a criticism of you - it just feels like Sorc seems so "samey" as past seasons - nothing really novel, the great builds require uniques that you might not see until level 80+ or 'til you can farm Duriel, and you have to figure out what to do between 50 and then, just to cross the line to get to a build you were using last time.

Incinerate build is going to be the best sorcerer build this season, my prediction. All the aspects that synergize with incinerate now all work and works insanely good. I got a Xfals but not as good then not wearing it. Burning damage is way too high. Stacking burning overtime tempers to all your gear takes your DoT to insane levels.

Thanks for the updated video for this build, that's super helpful. At 14:43 you say that you should have Crit Strike Chance wherever possible, which I don't quite understand. Blizzard is a DoT so I thought CST would not apply? Even in Season 3 I never had my Blizards crit and I was running your Ice Spikes build... Why do this? I spent literally hours in the training arena and my husband and I have never seen a single non-white digit appear from any Blizzard / Ice Spikes build. I assumed it had been nerfed, but now you're recommending it again so... does it seriously work?

Blizzard may be dot, but your main damage comes from ice spikes which will crit. Also crit is yellow number. Orange is (overpowered + crit) not something we aim for here.

I got necro to 50, sorcerer to 50, and tried getting druid to 50 but couldn't stand it. Necro is the OP build of the season, with sorcerer as 2nd best. Druid is just weak, and so resource intensive you'll spend 50% of your time getting it back. And like previous seasons, the only build that does ok is the lightning storm build with pets. The others just suck because they are weak or have a resource issue. This is just what I found when leveling. End game builds are a different story.

Ive done all the map completion rewards and rechecked the board three times and reset and redistributed them each time. I'm still 3 skill points short. Where did you get an extra 3 from??

why not use the Blizzard enchantment? Rather than frozen orb. Does the free Blizzard take mana?

Where does the unstoppable come from on Ice Armor and Flame shield?

@@FrikkinLazer flame shield and teleport. You can add unstoppable to ice armor with snowveil. I figure get boots with +3 mana and metaphorisis. I always have mana trouble

Using the same. Instead of esu, +3 evade and meta. That clubbed with tibaults, unstoppable all the time and increase damage plus mana

it sure does exist one higher than yours which has a cap of 2448 int and its the new blizzard/ball lightning and does have close to 800% lightning damage im currently at 2.1k int 22k hp and im immortal as ball lightning i also recommend you remove the tal rashas for another basic ring which will slace much higher in dps also you boots can be changed for normal item too and have +8 ranks for blizzard +2 core on gloves remove the crit i also doupt that you need mana per second on armor and helmet better to get life the 20% mana cost reduction is great from blizzard and i do would prioritze attack speed over crit chance you also not have the aspect for increased 37,5% atk speed when using core skills blizzard is one

Can someone explain how using Ice Armor and Fire Shield give mana back? I understand you get mana when you become unstoppable, but how does those two skilla make you unstoppable?

Would ice shards be viable for high lvl pit boss clear? Tried yours last season was very fun but ended up dojng your blizzard. Now i run fo but too low damage on boss gonna swap to this one again
