The felyne silkbind is way more useful. It staggers the monster 100% and is like a binder. The Monster is trapped in a certain radius around the Palico. Hilarious when Tigrex wants to charge at you and your cat just reels him backwards

The passive skills do make decent impact on your Palicos and Palamutes performance. For example, if Knockout King is equipped with a blunt weapon they'll tend to prioritize hitting the head of the monster. Mega Boomerang and Range Attack Up stack nicely with each other and hit multiple times for some part breaks and flinching utility.

After all, that's why male and female hunters are the same height, so that the weapons scale perfectly regardless. Felynes are just so much smaller you'd have to do it all for them, hence the need for a whole expansion needed and not just an update.

It's worth mentioning how insanely effective a healcat with bubbles and the medic skill equippied can actually be at healing the group, and it is dramatically amplified when making use of felvine, which you should always be doing anyway. Anyone worried about carting or carrying some noob friends or even just worried about the scrrubby randos in your lobby can benefit drastically from these. Flash bombay is far more constistent than the traps for the record, those cats rarely if ever miss, and get off 2-3 flashes a hunt. while flashes don't immobilize a monster they make it so the mon literally can't target anything, and aims their attacks at thin air. not to mention the flash effect last longer than traps and works on every single monster in the game, where some are immune to traps. not to mention when the cat puts a shock trap down you have to go through the trouble of luring the monster into the trap in the first place, and I have gone multiple hunts where they don''t use a single shock trap despite using felvine multiple times. flash bombay beats the other options by a wide margin. also between power drum and rousing roar fighter cats can give 45% affinity. so yeah, they are a far cry from being one of the worst.

Great video! Fighter class palico is actually pretty good as well. It gives you +30 affinity buff for 2.5 min and cast it very often. Not sure about lvl 20 skill but I believe it makes the palico attack more aggressively which is usefull to proc the status from the weapon.

Don't underestimate the rousing roar buff tho... it gives a ton of affinity. Use that with another palico that has the drum buff and you are golden.

I think a fair bit of folk try to optimize affinity in their armor set up, so that you are near as can be to 100% when attacking weak points, so more affinity is often wasted... but if your set isn't there then the affinity buff is obviously useful.

the vid doesn’t lie- they are useful. play around with the skill tho. 2 cats with different skills can lead to some fun outcomes. the bomb cat skills are particularly funny. they even have one that is basically the gunlance’s wyrmstake blast from iceborne, the dmg can add up with this one if they get it in a place where you can attack it easily. also they have a giant slow motion rocket 🚀.

Use a Flashpod or Flash Bombay palico, then you'll be free to sharpen while they're flailing around But you should still be careful about any ranged attacks, especially from Rakna if she tries to do that 360 flame breath attack

6:43 no thats not how it works, it actually keeps the monster in place with very resisted movement, it doesn't do anything for wyvern riding it says nothing about wyvern riding in the description, its 10x more useful than pitfall since the palico fires it out of a mini batista with the only down side being he can miss but 90 percent of the time it hits and when it does it causes a flinch no matter what even if the monster is doing an attack or about to roar, I dont know how you came to the conclusion you did but hopefully this helps clear some things up on the fenlyne silkbind move and its utility, I always bring an assist palico and another palico as if I need to I can just walk out of the monsters range to sharpen or heal, plus it stops flying monsters from flying

I would like to point out that the Felyne Silkbind Palico skill doesn't make them ridable more often, it limits the wyverns range of movement. Nothing funnier than watching a Rathalos attempt to bull rush you only to not move beyond the first step. Super useful when playing a ranged weapon, pining down evasive monsters like volvidon

Gonna stick with my Assist and Bombardier combo, basically every time my cats do anything the monster is left stuck or staggered and my dps goes all that much higher. Also, non-gathering palicos still get materials off monsters, I'm not sure if they can get the rare drops, but carapace and scales are definitely still something they can grab. Also, also, Felyne Silkbind does not make you mount the monster, it anchors it in place and is very underrated against flyers like Rathalos.

I started off with a Healer & she served me very well. Soloing with me & my doggo up to HR6. Then it hit me just how much easier it was to scout the perfect cat in Rise in comparison to older games. Not just the skills but the look FINALLY. So now I have little Do'mata. A Gathering cat with Healing Bubble, Power Drum & Shock Purr-ison. She also has Attack & Health up L, & Element & Ranged Attack up. Looks like I made the right choice. She's pretty much purrfection in my eyes. Meanwhile my original cat has a cushy job on the Argosy.

My Palamutes have saved me quite a bit of time when I had to chase down the monster. Especially, in high rank. For some godforsaken reason, all my monsters would run across the map to start off the fight, then circle back to the same place 10 mins later

I'm not timing my hunts so I'm always going out of the way to pick up mats... If in a multiplayer hunt I go quicker then normal because everyone is usually on the monster by the time I join.

Support Silkbind--> is not making it ridable but a VERY VERY VERY usefull shakle which locks it in place --> Test it and you will love it Summon Endemic live sounds useless but in fact gives 100% a extra Silkbind.. All of this shows you didnt test those and this is a theorie guide is it? and Mega Boomerang can couse the palico weapoin attribut which can be intresting if they dont proc during a normal fight ; ) Regarding the passives there is a clear winner --> StatusAttack Up --> Sleep/Para resist so they knock you out when sleep or para happens ;) In the end i would talk 1 Pilver +1Support or 2 Pilvers becouse one extra trap is a aextra trap ;) but in the long run i asume your right and the perfekt combo is as you say except maybe + endemic live lure + healing bubble..

Didja not actually use the Felyne silkbind Joshy boi? Cuz thats not what it does, it locks the monster down with iron silk keeping them tethered to a center point which keeps them in a general area and will in a lot of cases stop a lot of the monsters attacks from hitting you when they otherwise would. Ive also found if you get a monster with it while they're trying to flee especially when near death, they will essentially just flop around stuck there until you kill them. Actually pretty damn useful.

I wish there was a way to make palicos as determined to see us survive as they were in previous titles. When you got stunned, you best believe your palico was rushing to your side more times than not. Nowadays you get stunned and your palico just smiles and waves. Maybe it will rush to you right at the end after you've been destroying your analogue stick but by then the monster has hit you and the palico has succeeded in being an arse.

Palicos and Palamuths for the win!!!!

I have two gathering palico with both with status up, and both had sleep inducing weapons, and they're regularly put monsters to sleep twice most hunts to my shock. Either allowing to get off a double damage bomb empowered power sheathed rage slash on GS, or an LBG rain of explosions with all the wyvernblast bomb combo. Was always extremely useful and satisfying!

I finally got my perfect Palico. I got Gathering with Shock-purison, Healing bubble and Powerdrum. Perfect for my SnS which doesn't need the stamina from Go-fight-win. I also got Status attack up, KO king, and negate posion. YEA BOI!!! QUICK TIP: If you're not getting the RNG for the perfect Palico. You can do the Rajang challenge quest and cart. Pick the HBG and avoid the Prism Spiribird then try and hit a personal best of 16 seconds. You only need to cart once for the rotation of Palico to change. Also, once you fail the quest use the move around village option in the menu to get to the Palico trainer as there are no load screens and is much faster then running there on foot. Hope this helps for those on Nintendo. If you're on PC download the Palico editor on Nexus mods.

It had taken me a while to get my Pilfer-ico to roll both Power Drums and Healing Bubble. It also came with Status Up and Paralysis immunity. I have a twin Palico that lacks the drums but has Summon Endemic Life with a Sleep immunity and several attack boosts. I find the Sleep and Paralysis immunities are fantastic as your Buddies in this game are more proactive in knocking you out of such effects. After watching this video I decided Wirebug Whisperer might be an option for my empty skill slots so I can better keep on the offensive while maintaining my Bead of Resonance.

I boosted my Healer to plus 20 and I hired about 2 gatherers I sent them on the Meowcenary Quests....now it’s time to hire a new gatherer

Wow my starter Palico is a gatherer with healing bubble, the drum and shock trap...plus status up and attack up talents :D, looks like I don’t have to farm palicos for 100 hours

I got so lucky with my Palico. The only downside is that he has camouflage instead of power drum but he has been, aside from a little clumsiness, a very helpful partner.

TFW I go check my hired Palicos and already had the perfect Gathering setup as instructed in the middle of training at lvl29.
