The more I look at it the more convinced I am that that new wyvern is using the same skeleton as Seregios and Astalos. I don't think that it is using a modified Gore skeleton because I think they are going to be using the already existing skeletons with very little modifications and maybe adding one or two new skeletons. I do think that it would be a waste to modify the Gore skeleton when the Steve skeleton would work perfectly fine.

Seregios constantly aids its movements with its wings, which are much closer to wings than the Pseudo Wing-Arms. Astalos constantly slams and slaps and crawls with its wings all the time as well, while also not Pseudo. Even the Raths sometimes brace with their wings, as Gold Rathian does it from big aerial fire-ball blast recoil landing in both World and Rise, if I recall correctly, and another Rath may also do something somewhat similar in Rise as well, I get the faint memory of it, but cannot place it. Bazel does it as well, with some wing-propulsion aiding in crawling to scrape along the ground, and pushing off with them for some long leaps that aren't really flight. I cannot recall if Espinas has some of this type of stuff in Rise, but it wouldn't surprise me, seeing the trend. Heck, Aknosom, being a Bird Wyvern, which is incredibly close to the Flying Wyvern skeleton, uses its wings for attacks quite often in articulate swings, and Malfestio did it a bit as well. This just leads me to believe that they are growing more comfortable and adept at rigging wings to be more flexible for different types of movements - as it can be a bit complicated to do and have it look well at higher fidelity, since there would be a lot of stretching and contracting and folding of the membranes and such. Another hint at something like this would be Malzeno, having incredibly standard dragon wings and using them in combat a ton, which almost no Elder Dragons did while still having normal wing, since Nergi covered a ton of the membrane up with the really solid black top-side and the generous coating of spikes, and still didn't even articulate them in that strange of ways. (Yes, Valstrax does a bunch of wacky things with the wings, but the physical structure of the wings was already incredibly wild to accommodate for that.) Since Flying Wyverns were such a common type in M.H., and they almost never used wings or legs for interesting strikes, it was really sad how most monsters just fought with their heads, tails, and elements. Allowing things to use their fore-limbs for combat really helps open up way more interesting concepts for both physical designs and attacks to come from them. Now we just need things to follow Seregios's lead a bit more and have more kicks too, especially among Flying and Bird, since real-life birds use their legs a ton. A kicking Brute to be a counter-part of the punches of things like Brachy and Rajang would be nice too, we basically only have Seregios and Great Maccao right now, and Great Maccao is a bit lacking on move variety and challenge - even if it the best raptor and possibly best starter monster. (We needed more interesting tail attacks there weren't just the M.H. classic half-circle spin for a while there, but they really improved on that over the years, and I feel like Sunbreak specifically added quite a few neat tail attacks to things that didn't have much in that department before, I remember being pleasantly surprised seeing so many new ones there.) Edit: Wait, were people speculating that this thing wasn't a Flying Wyvern? It's pretty obvious by the shot of its frame while flying. Unless they added some new class that would be mostly redundant. I started calling him Railthalos before I heard people were calling him Thor Magala, and that one never made sense to me, since he doesn't use a Gore rig and doesn't use a hammer, literally just a monster name plus a thing associated with lightning. Might as well have called it Zeusala Daora. Also, funny enough, of the over-arching things about the game we've seen so far are the Thunder being important to the environment and all the Serpents of the logo, when we just got done with the game that had the Thunder Serpent as the big bad. There's definitely nothing to that, just a fun coincidence.

It's Astalos' skeleton. Astalos is a little bit different from other flying wyverns but not enough to be unabme to share some animations. In this case you can tell by the proportions and the rigging that this is Astalos doing a cosplay. About the arm-wings, there are lots of flying wyverns (talking about the true ones) that do chill on all fours, we've seen bazel, we've seen the raths do it and others that under certain situations definitely can. Astalos is a special case because its arms are more developed, almost having claws and a handpalm-like structure it can "punch" with. Yet still they can obviously take whatever skeleton they want and add new animations which use the forelimbs, like as I mentioned with Bazel. So yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with gore and talking about this one, the line along the neck is where the horns rest when its not enraged

So you know how we've been talking about Frontier influence? And you know how Frontier had the prehistoric monsters or whatever they were called? And you know how this new monster looks alarmingly like the original concept art for zinogre? What if the Forbidden Lands has a bunch of monsters that are separate evolutionary paths to the ones we know? What if that IS actually Wilds zinogre, and almost all the returning monsters in the game are prehistoric ones? I've been thinking that what we've seen so far of Wilds doesn't really suit a lot of existing monsters in the series, like they would feel almost out of place because they're not hideous or savage enough. So I really like the idea that we could get complete redesigns for monsters that are supposed to be primordial versions of them, and that's just how they do returning monsters in Wilds (not all of them - deviljho, nergigante, khezu etc. would fit very well but a lot of them would feel lind of weird to me at least).

It's been too long and barioth is lonely in the air, as he laughs at the other 3. It's been since Tri when we got one, come on guys! he could be like Steve but that's less interesting. I do love the idea that each map will have it's own monster that uses the natural disaster to their advantage. That's an easy way to have it so he's an important monster, as they said, but not the flagship. The flagship may be another one, with a similar shtick but on a different map. We have no idea how many locales we will get, hence how many creatures will be kind of like this. They look huge but we may still get like 5 of them. This guy is a lot like zinogre, or his early concept art when he was a flying wyvern. He has elements of that design at least. I personally love the idea of taking old concepts of monsters to use on new creatures, many years later, it's awesome. Zinogre was the ideal candidate for this, he's the most popular monster and they'd want to see how much we'll like his earlier concept fleshed out as another new monster. I do hope that some less beloved monsters get this treatment of a second chance at their concept too, in the future.

@marmyeater6 ай бұрын
I agree with the first part, but going up against a final boss that embodies the pinnacle of the foes you've faced with the skills you've honed is a bit too far out there to be done in a game about hunting monsters. We could maybe have a group of lesser Elders to fight (like Teostra and Lunastra), maybe even have them be the children of the final boss (like if we had had to fight 2 Xeno'Jiivas right before fighting Safi'Jiiva), but said final boss seems a little too integral to not have its own place.

* I would love to see each location having a different environmental extreme, with their own Apex monster making full use of the extreme environmental changes. Like here being the sandstorm/thunderstorm drying everything out with Thor Magala being the main boi. But another zone getting a huge rainstorm flooding everything over causing half the map to be under water (which could bring back under water combat. . .) and afterwards the water drains/dries up for the next storm revealing the previous under water areas. (in case there isn't any underwater combat) with something like a normie monster vers. of Namile taking advantage of the weather change in and out of the water. * something that comes to mind, (that I don't think was done before in MH) is perhaps a Large swarm monster. . . an example - swam of rats from DND, counted as a single fight/monster, but made of many smaller creatures. Would be interesting to see a huge singular "hive mind" monster made up of several small monsters, where the fight doesn't technically end till you've defeated all of them (not just the leader of the pack). Playing on the herd/group that they keep highlighting in each trailer reveal.

Also reported that we will have Hunt/Slay/Repel missions mixed up, this means that we have repel missions in a certain amount of time tops to deal enough damage. Added to this we can have in a same mission the hunt A monster/repel B monster (example: hunt Rathian/repel Glavenus). If i was a dev i would absolutely exclude the idea of "only new monsters" for a brand new title. You see, not only they would need to make the roster number at least decent, which would take a lot of work, but it wouldn't make use of their past work aswell, which is what MH has always done except Tri (because it was a completely new engine with a new restyle) They did a lot of work on world and rise, they have all their models to work with so i really don't think they would go this way. Also you have to consider that so far Chatacabra is overall liked, and the new wyvern looks cool for a first impression, but undeniably Doshaguma and Balahara are not liked by everyone. Doing a full on new roster has the risk of not being appreciated, while bringing in some fan favourites help them keeping up the sales. i have a theory: Thor Magala uses his Thunder Sac by itself, but he can only be at full power during Sandtides, making the organ double as a sort of conduit. meaning that during a Sandtide, he can use his railgun bolt; and when there's not a Sandtide he cannot, and relies on the Thunder Sac itself, likely spitting a (relatively) weak lightning projectile like Lagiacrus, Astalos and Khezu.

Based on how creatively monster hunter handles lightning based creatures, I can totally see this guy not actually producing lightning but attracting it during a storm. This would make him and his greatest weapon, the thunder railgun of doom, completely dependent on the weather. He’d just be hidden away on a sunny day because he’d be powerless. He wouldn’t be a force of nature like the elder dragons, he would utilize something without full control of when it happens. I think this is what Wilds is trying to achieve. Make an ecosystem that dynamically changes based on the weather. We’ve seen the locale change due to a storm, and now we see monsters that are weather-dependent. And with how the monsters can form packs and seemingly have no limit to their amount, this gives them a lot more freedom and scope to make such an ecosystem. Makes me very hopeful for even more locales and their weather effects

Now that you've brought up the fated four idea... as I keep looking at the logo, it makes sense. I think there might be 6? Sounds crazy... but obviously you have the 4 circles all being apex's of their own terrain, then then one circle that turns into a dragon could be the last main APEX causing all the issues. Now that's 5 but we see there is a second dragon... so that could be one of two things. 1. It's hidden apex which make's it a 6th one, or it's that main apex's alternate form. As like it goes through a transformation state... kinda like how gore became shagaru. Idk, just a crazy theory but you made me think of it since you brough up the fated four idea. but then again, i'm sure others would come to a similar conclusion too so not that unique if it was mentioned before.

I think it's very likely we get a volcanic map where the big transformation event is an eruption. I also like the idea of a jungle or swamp that actually floods.

I think it's more like a Seregios skeleton than a Magala it also have a same thing like moving the scales around the neck but this one move something to throw the lightning

I'm a Little off put by the idea of two modes, The Directors and Several articles state that the environment has A Dynamically changing weather system, it's even shown in the gameplay that's been available, and Whilst some say it's certain I disagree with the Claim that calling it a locale immediately makes it almost certain it's gonna not be open world. Whilst yes it's called A locale it doesn't mean the area is restricted, nor does it not state there isn't A way to explore other environments, it's called a locale because it is a Local Environment which the game has multiple Locale's meaning relating to a particular area (The Forbidden Lands), and Environment's being the surrounding's. But the biggest thing to point out is, "In the Forbidden Lands, you'll encounter not only herds of small monsters-some of the large monsters of the region may also form packs. Each group has its own place in the ecosystem, with its own unique movements and behaviours." The word Region is brought up rather than Locale, It doesn't necessarily say one is stuck in the area nor can they travel. To further explain it's completely possible to be open world, considering the engine can handle it as shown in massive projects like Dragon's Dogma 2, and there are Areas that are accessible in game that show openings to other Locales.

I'm not sure how I feel about a "everything is new 'cept the raths" situation. On the one hand, there's old monsters that haven't gotten a rework yet, plus the base World complaint of "a lot of these guys feel samey". But on the other hand, this game feels much different to what came before, so it definitely makes sense.

What if he is a skeleton switcher like lunagaron and switches between skeletons for physical/ranged attacks

Im thinking like a fate four situation, maybe one monster in the same vein as the biome it resides, whatever crazy weather might be going on in those biomes

Am I the only one who saw his horns separate after his attack? I think his horns move to the center to perform the attack and the face is almost in the realm of Diablo vibes. It’s a small point you can see it when he completes his attack that his horns seem to revert back to their original position

I'm starting to theorize that this monster might be something along the lines of Sunbreak's Three Lords. Perhaps each map location has its own "lord." A big apex monster for each map location

I feel like thor magala and zinogre are somewhat related genetically. The yellow protrusions, spikey horns, chin, and back, and a big flat tail. I believe the wing arms were once powerful feet.

Said it on your reaction video and I'm still standing by it, we are getting a retake of the fated 4. This game is looking like it's going to be the largest MH we have gotten. I don't think 1 flagship would do it justice.

I don't care what Thor Magala's model is, as long as I can hunt it down and have a field day with his badass looking armor. The whole using lightning as an adaptation to what it does attack wise is incredible. It lowkey reminds me of HTTYD's Skrill in a way, maybe perhaps it can store that lighting it attracts for later?

honestly its just a flying wyvern, really only a couple wyverns don't use their wings for some sort of support the raths being 2 of them, otherwise almost all flying wyverns use their wings in some way via digging, support while charging/rolling or for various other types of attacks. the raths are honestly kinda the odd ones out

I have been calling the thunder dragon/wyvern Thor Magala and with weather being the issue amatsu and alateron both mess with the weather
@theadmiral41576 ай бұрын
Yo, I wanna see alatreon and amatsu in one game and having a turf war
@twglenn96366 ай бұрын
@theadmiral4157 that would be awesome but sadly amatsu would get folded like laundry.
@rektadragoon29426 ай бұрын
i’d imagine his turf wars being him grabbing a random monster and pinning them down with those big hands and biting them with the pincer things on hus face and then discharge his insane railgun pointblank demolishing a poor random monster

14:50 and then the big snakeies could be representing the two states of the environment (I have a theory that the environment is changing because of a fight between two maybe even siege monsters)

The stance he takes while firin his lazors reminds me alot of Tigrex. Also when in the air you his top horns move into place as well.

I don't know if its just when he's flying, but those top horns def moved between the view of his face and moving on to preparing his attack.

I hope were gonna get six flagships in this game. I wanna see more unique large monsters that has dope designs and hunt them

If this is one of the new fated four then it’d be dope to see a new local and flagship type monster every two months before the game is fully released

I feel like the mh tri situation where it’s almost entirely new monsters is unlikely, the hunters choice vote acted as a big reminder of how much people love old monsters

I really hope its a fated four. Lightning, blizzard(or Hail), drought, and flooding. Representing at least four elements (Lightning, Ice, Fire, Water). Though I'm curious any other theories on what weather we may see?

Don’t forget that there is baby pukei pukei in one of trailers so there is big possibility that there will be adult version too so rathalos will not be only old monster in wilds

So maybe not the flag ship, but maybe a zone ship. The moster you might think if first when talking about a zone. Diablos desert, Namiel and Kirin Coral highlands, Anganath Anchent forest.

Imagine some of the locale is desert with corals, then suddenly and oddly theres tides or tsunami filling the desert making them underwater. I can imagine the devs "ever changing climate map" gonna be so epic to accommodate snowy, magma, forest, coral, etc region combo.
