So, for HH's offset melody, you have several options to lower the creation time. 1) While placing an echo bubble you can play play multiple notes during the animation to stock them (I've gotten 3, but idk if that's max). 2) As Hollow said, during the focus attack you can (and want to) play up to 5 notes during the animation. 3) If you double swing for your red note, the second swing can add in a free note. Obviously these work for regular songs also, but Offset Melody in particular can take a fair bit more setup if you skip over these options.

An additional area to get a 'free' note is with a hilt stab. By holding back on LT mid-combo, you can queue any note with a very fast, low damage attack.

I need to comment on the hunting horn: you said the Offset Melody takes too long to set up. With the new echo bubbles, you can mash buttons during the animation to make songs without actually attacking. So you can set up the melody instantly with 1 echo bubble. You can also set it up during the wound focus attack. So even though it might be a longer melody than normal, the game gives you new options to set it up quick. Also, you can set up self improvement, damage up, etc. melodies while on Seikrit and that is a pretty good upgrade.

Superpound's new note shortcut makes it pretty easy to store Offset too. You can go Superpound>Crush>Hilt Stab or just 2 Superpounds

What do you think about the dmg potential compared to worlds? Do you think it can compete with the other weapons now? I love HH, but in the past I played it only in group scenarios (rise excluded) I saw some decent speedruns with it but I'm still not sure.

For the bow the best part would be that coatings no longer require ammo, you use the bar to fill coatings now.

Additional small things I've found while labbing with the weapons that might be easy to miss: Gs: they really buffed the speed that the block comes out after the charge slashes and with perfect guards it's actually viable to use. You can also spam the kick fairly quickly if you get the timing down its still really bad but its an almost viable meme for getting KOs Ls, If you hold down the spirt blade button mid roll youll start spirt charge as soon as you finish Sns, just want to give a shout out to sliding swipe, covers decent distance and can turn a full 180 at the end so mixing it with the standard chops movement gives it more mobility than it has any right to have. DB, above your health bar you get a buff with a timer for how long demon dodge is active. Demon flurry uses demon gauge as a resource where you won't be able to do the whole combo without enough of it. Hammer, during the overhead slam combo you can shuffle around a bit between each hit of the combo for a bit of positioning, not that useful but kinda cool. You can do charge step immediately after a dodge. HH, you can get a second note during overhead slam like with the double swing. As mentioned by others that I might as well add, you can input 3 notes during echo bubble and 5 notes the focus strike Lance, during mid thrusts you can hold focus mode to strife left and right. Focus mode during dash attack for tighter turning. You can cancel the triple thrust into guard GL, there's a fast version of wyvern fire if you combo it after any fo the moves that usewyvern stake or following up wyvern fire with a second wyvern fire. If you try to shell when your out you'll do a quick reload instead of the usual shack the gunlance animation IG, charging kinsect harvest buffs your kinsect to collect 3 extracts instead of 2 that goes away when it returns to you. You can cancel the strong jumping advancing slash into the charged strong descending slash. clinging to walls after vaulting is still a thing CB, not really uncommon knowledge but you can hold the buttons during savage axe for more hits and the shield now has a little glow effect anytime a guard point is active Hbg, you can roll out of wyvern counter ignition without consuming any gauge. Bow gun tip in general you can hold the reload button to cycle through the ammo to reload and this can be done on the sekrets back and you can mode switch mid roll on both All, you can go up vine walls or other climb-able walls with your weapon out and this seems to be the replacement for the textured walls in world that you can run up and do certain attacks off of

You missed the most awesome parts about bow. Tracer arrows, the arrow rain that puts multiple trackers in it so you can send homing missiles on them. exploding wounds with the same thing, its super busted.

Something that you didn’t mention is that now the Buff (Heal, Armor and Demon) Ammos for the Bowguns now requires you to shoot it on the ground. It’ll create a little buff fountain that will buff anyone that walks through it. The shooter included of course.

Got about 6 hours in with lance, and it's still an effort getting used to not being able to counter-thrust after any poke, now being locked to the end of a combo. It just feels so weird that they would change THE bread-and-butter counter attack that lance has always had. R2 + circle goes right to power guard now, but power guard was always more situational to me than counter-thrust.

@@werth79 Yeah, at first I thought the shield bash would have a similar timing to the insta-block in Rise, so now whenever I just stand there and guard and the shield bash goes off, I'll often think "I didn't earn that." Lol

Same. Add to that, lance feels very sluggish now. A lot of attacks are slow, the high pokes, the pokes after power guard, the wide sweep and step thrust without guard dash(step because it doesn't move much). Its just not the same. But I'm having fun with gunlance having the similar counter thrust because of the reload having the guard point and same button as counter thrust.

@@zrevi5918 Oooh man I HATE that drawn out reel back and upward leap when you attack after the power guard! First time I fought Doshaguma I carted twice because of that move. You're right, some of the lance attacks feel very slow and weighty, without the damage to match.

Although it seems like a long combo to get the Offset Melody for Hunting Horn, there are actually a lot of tricks to get it quickly. Certain attacks allow you to collect two notes with one attack. Using the colors in the video, you can get two notes from doing a forward yellow attack and pressing another attack button before the final slam, and you can also get two notes from doing a forward red attack and pressing an attack button on the second swing of the horn. So you can do a forwards yellow + red attack, then a forwards yellow + white attack to get your offset. In addition, whenever you do a focus attack on a monster wound, you get the opportunity to store up to four notes by pressing the attack buttons in time with you strumming the horn.

Whats really helping with the hunting horn offset atack is that you can do the inputs while casting echo bubble which makes the animation way quicker, leaving you with only needing a white melody. So many mention that you can play melody inputs during the focus atack but I rarely see them mention that the same counts for echo bubble.

The problem with the mentioned IG gameplay style is that it is the ONLY worthwhile way of playing which makes it pretty much a different weapon, and the need for all 3 extracts for the enhanced moveset is just a no-no, paired with weaker and less worthy air based gameplay, i just feel that Capcom have really ruined what i enjoyed about my loving bugstick... I dont mind the mentioned gameplay style, i've tried and fairly succeeded with it, however it feels like more of a longsword in previous games way of playing, in that it is focused on 1 way to play and 1 way to play alone. IG used to have 2 more mainstream play methods if you get to the roots of it, ground and air, but also other ridiculous builds like kinsect only and status/elemental spammage. that being said, im also conflicted on seeing what i think few people have said about, if you look at the weapon page on the status or equipment screen the Kinsect has a level bar... much like Generation 4 Kinsects, which you built up with Necter... i liked the building, but hated the farming... and i wonder if thats returned.

So much drama around not being able to chain IG helicopter 3x. So what, just vault back into the air. If anything I would prefer increased aerial damage because its not great as of right now even when kinsect follows. I believe there will be more playstyles than less. But that also depends on available skills. Anyway kinsect following your moves when attacking in focus mode is another really cool addition no one is talking about.

Light bowgun you can charge the focus attack for massive explosive damage. Also during rapid fire mode you can keep firing while evading, thus dealing damage at a constant rate.

DB combo when reaching full charge lets you start the flurry, then use the mode switch to reposition, to do the same button push you do to start the flurry, to reposition further and then switch back to demon mode and do the final part of the flurry. Amazing combo.

I think the best part of IG is the fact that you can now CHARGE your bug and when you fire it through something, it can pull all 3 extracts from it at once.

I'm happy that you pointed out the SnS perfect guard feeling really impactful. So many people were overlooking that I think, but now that we've been able to get our hands on SnS, I find myself looking forward to making a guard up/offensive guard build. It feels so much better than Dark Souls rolling around the monsters constantly. I told myself that I would try different weapons this game. That I wouldn't just keep going back to SnS, but it's just sooooooo satisfying. That said, I'm also enjoying Lance this game. LANCE! OF ALL THINGS! The overall Lance player count may finally break triple digits in Wild! 😂 Seriously though, it's fun.

Lots of solid takes but I disagree with the take on spirit release, It's a long animation which doesn't do that much damage in comparison to other weapons, it needs the hyper armour considering it costs 2 charges. Compared to wyvern fire combo which does insane damage and can perfect block at any stage during it. Greatsword can hyper armour at any stage during its charge combo which does significantly more damage then spirit release. This might all seem excessive now but I can see it being essential in G rank.

Alright let's do this again...men why do so many get this wrong. First of all if we are talking which is lances most power full attack?....it's the new charged counter thrust without a shadow of a doubt. It slighty out damages GS true charge slash. (it does around 126 total to rey's head, 140 with buffs) "you can charge it up to maximaze it's poke value or use it as a counter" Wrong you actually maximize the damage by using it as a counter. The charge attack itself has pretty sad DPS but when using it as a counter it does a double hit that (like i said already) can even out damage TCS. Now while that sounds OP...it is really difficult to get the max damage out of this attack and pretty much no other lance attack comes even close to it's damage output. Technically Lance could out-perform alot of wweapons now but this move is really difficult to use consistantly to it's max effectivness.

bowgun can now be fired while mounted, effectively eliminate the mobility deficit of heavy bowngun. Playing like a turret tank out running monster. Fire rate is a bit lower than firing unmounted. But mobility gain is insane.

Hunting horn tech you can get the offset ready in 3 inputs with the last bieng faster. When doing natural red notes you can input the other double note during the second swing. Follow it with a stab note after

About the insect glaive, the charge attack can be used mid air (jump) to get a descending thrust like in world, and then follow up with the kinsect attack as the ground charged attack

Offset Attacks, Guarding/Perfect Guard, Charged attacks, and Resource spending are mechanics shared across weapons. With those 4 there's also Counter and Perfect Dodge, one of these 6 isn't going to be a thing on an Apex.

I personally like the light bow gun over the other two ranged options because of its simple yet affective play. Using the chaser in rapid mode lets you put out more damage and break open more wounds than the other two. I just think it's way more versatile and effective and personally enjoyable so i wouldn’t mund a buff or two if others think its bad lol

Playing SnS and HBG has been even more satisfying than usual these days. Even without any super impactful changes, like Focus Mode for GS, it's such an enjoyable time. Likewise for GL if I don't want any dedicated play, just moderate button mash = win, and if I do dedicate myself, huge damage potential.

Still, I don't get it, out of bowgun ammo/ coating? just run around a bit, grab those resources and let that auto-combining feature do it for ya.

Charge blade didn't change a lot but it feels good, except for my pc only pulling 20 fps but that is what it is still very fun weapon but I don't like savage axe coming after blocking, also I hope release is better optimised because just a bit of optimisation would be enough to make it playable for me

Some other SnS mains are upset that it didn’t get as many new flashy toys as the other weapons, but being able to change your position and angle mid combo is literally something I’ve only dreamed about. And having more control over backsteps making them easier to do on reaction is crazy.

just spitballing a silly idea: 4 anime characters in Monster Hunter. Goblin Slayer with SnS (because he's always carrying a shortsword and targe), Levi with DB (you know why), Shield Hero with Lance (1 of the 2 best shields in MH), and Guts with GS (the only man i know with a large sword). i always pictured other characters in Monster Hunter - such as Mario and Luigi (Hammer, because of the Super Star saga); and Kratos and Atreus (SnS & DB, and Bow & LS) - hunting monsters, and having a grand old time. i find it fun thinking of the "what if characters form other media interact with this world?". to make another example, i've asked myself "if other characters were in the world of Pokémon, which ones - a full team of 6 - would they have? which one would fit them? which one references something about them?".

Hh offset isn't as long. Overhead can play a second bit and back and a button is a little fast stab of that note. So overhead plays yellow and red small stab for another yellow and follow that with white. Voilà ready.

My issue with Focus mode is that it functions so much like a Target Lock On now that my positionings from the previous games are getting affected. It would be great if I have the option of having Focus mode off but I believe it would be such a core mechanic in Wilds that its going to be something we cannot do without. Is this what every new generation feels like for old hunters?

I have a question, does Focus Mode damage scale off Monster HP or something? Coz when I do Focus Strikes against Rey using IG, the damage numbers get kinda bonkers... like multiple ticks, each of ~500, for a total of 1500 to 2000 damage... That is not something I'm used to seeing as an IG main...

Charge Blade and Insect Glaive need some rework. Other weapon are good with their base kits but these 2 need monster interaction (wound/ weakspot) to be good. Good luck getting IG essences manually. Hunting Horn offset melody needs new audio, "Ding Ding Ding mtfk!".

Hey Lancers/Capcom, I wanted to share some thoughts on Monster Hunter Wilds beta before its release. Share your thoughts. 1. Weapons: - Lance: Reintroduce the counter claw from Iceborne for enhanced defense and retaliation. Allow counterattacks or accessible always outside of committed animations and add new offensive options like 2 quick jabs (like spear)or a sweeping attack after a counter parry/block. Speed up attack animations for better responsiveness. - Light Bowgun: Incorporate an evasion mechanic similar to the wirebug counter dodge, using the clutch claw for swift repositioning. This would make it more fun i think. 2. Monsters and Environments: - Monster Difficulty: Ensure monsters are aggressive and unpredictable, similar to battles with Nergigante, Deviljho, and Lunastra. The combat experience should remain thrilling and challenging. - Environmental Challenges: Create environments that require strategic preparation, enhancing the lore and urgency of hunts. - Companion Dynamics: Balance companions like Alma and the Seikret to maintain the challenge of each encounter, preserving the heightened stakes that make hunts rewarding. 3. Endgame Content: Legendary Rank: - Challenges: Introduce a Legendary Rank with unique monsters that push skills to the limit, featuring innovative attack patterns and environmental challenges. with Low, High, Master, and Legendary Ranks, grounds a lifelong, re-playable engaging endgame content. These suggestions are partly to champion for lance, as we want to be flashy too, but overall is my observation with the beta.

Charge blade and insect glaive are worst than world imo, removing insect glaives dragoon like feel and making charge blade slower and have more steps is just annoying

Lance's ability to guard mid combo was kind of nerfed to hell so I guess they just stole that for S&S. The delay is way longer than in World or Rise. Again, lance gets screwed over by the devs. None of us few lance enjoyers should be suprosed at this point. The perfect guard on lance is also fucking pointless cause there's no way in hell it has good KO. It also kind of ruined the point of lance, literally, because its range is a joke compared to your pokes. I also found it odd that, in the demo, rey dao has no unblockable attacks but doshaguma does. Rey dao's biggest lightning shot can be blocked with ease but doshaguma can just suddenly lift up the ground form under you or use that as a follow up to his paw slamming combo and you could not block it. That move made him way more of a threat than rey dao ever was. It makes 0 sense but I assume, since such an early monster has an unblockable attack, we will get guard up sooner in thsi game. Duh hammer's new move is stronger than GS, you don't get any I frames through any shitty tackle and you have to make sure the distance is right so the big hit lanced instead of the tiny hits in the spinning lead up. If you are too close, the spin will hit first and you lose that wake up him on a weak attack. Yeah offset melody is the most awkward offset attack, by far. You not only have to do the offset attack timing stuff but you have to cue the song first to use it at all. No, you can't cue it more than once in your song list. It alwasy has the same input and if you play the notes again, before using the melody, nothing happens. You can only hold one at a time. The wound part doesn't matter, that's assuming you win the race for the wound and you will only get those very so often. This melody is really clunky. It's the only negative to HH now. Switch axe and hammer are the most surprising and improved weapons in Wilds. I always found SA to be middle of the read but now it's one of my favorites. The flowing between axe mode, sword mode, and the amped states that both get now is amazing. We also get a second big move for amped state that's really fun to pull off. Probably the funniest things I did in the beta was latch on to a balahara, with the old sword mode move, he started climing on the pillar but my ticks od damage instatnly made him fall off as he got to the top. I had no idea that's what he was doing until we starting going up the pillar. I love how with CB you can still do SAED spam, without that pesky AED leading into it, all you have to do is guard an attack then you go into SAED. Doesn't have to be a perfect guard or guard point, any block works. You can also rotate your SAED, mid move, with focus mode. I ddi find that trying to bait for this an spam SAED through gaurding was a bit annoying for something like rey dao that moves a lot. For monsters like that, just use the normal combo or do this when you can. Hitting the 3 parts you need to in that rising spin was super inconsistent in the beta. For things like rey sao, orange buff is only on his torso so you have to be almost touching him to get it. Otherwise, you are hitting everything but his chest and getting the other 2 buffs. The cahrge move is also very weird and doen'st feel like IG. Them taking areal away and just tacking on this lazy assist kinsect clone was really lame. In some match ups, this means IG demands that you get wounds so if you're in a team, especially if there's a LS player, Gog help you. You will not get this consistently. His switching form light to heavy bowgun is like my swapping form CB to SA. Never thought I'd enjoy SA more. Both are fun now but SA is a lot more fun.

As a longsword main i wish they remove hyperarmor on spirit release. It's hard to ask for nerfs when we don't know exactly how the full roster of monters is going to play, but i think it's too much. There is no reason for not doing spirit release out of every single helmbreaker as it makes every HB a lot safer. From my experience it would be way more rewarding to be able to identify openings and judge if spirit release is the correct follow up in a given situation. The way it is now it will quickly make the loop on longsword very repetitive.
