Works for me just fine i am disabled so dating is a pain in the ass as is. I do have a biological son and a daughter i took in after my ex died. I am 40 now and i tried to date again but after being alone for years i am like why bother. Reason i left my ex was she cheated on me told me to cheat on her or leave so i left. These days i focus on my role as a long distance dad given im disabled. I was injured in the Navy and it gave me a disability on top of my cognitive disability so my only incomes disability now. I want to eventually find a wholesome woman, get married, and have some kids of my own, both for my personal desire to keep my family tree going and for my desire to let my parents rest easy knowing that all their sacrifices for me and my brother weren't in vain. It's not like this is new, either. This has happened to plenty of cultures throughout history. Government steps in to dictate what men and women have to do in relationships, and both sexes suffer as a result (in different ways). But men in particular end up going their own way every time, and in different ways. Of particular note, if you look back to certain periods in Japanese history, the vast majority of men were not "settled" in the same way that they were in contemporary western culture only a few decades ago. Prostitution was prevalent in major towns and cities, men had little chance for upward mobility but were relied upon for nearly everything in society... people suffered as a result. Men's lives were cheap, and women's lives were miserable as a consequence. The irony is that the contemporary nuclear family , when committed to as a culture, is the strategy that leads to the least amount of suffering. Not like there isn't still misery, but there is a lot less of it. But that just isn't good enough, apparently.
