For anyone who hasn't seen a creature vote before, the first round is an open submission on the official forums. Duplicate creatures are merged into a single thread as it is ultimately the creature itself being voted on, and not the abilities suggested. However, it is usually the first of these submissions that ends up being taken into consideration by both the players and developers. The second round takes the top10 and asks the community to rank them in order to most preferred to least.

I like the idea of giving more large herbivores to balance against the massive amount of big carnivores. I get it, T-Rex and co are cool factor but did we really need Giganotosaurus and Charcarodontosaurus on first place?

Thank you very much, I was worried I was a bit overly harsh with the odd joke to various suggestions glad to see I didn't offend hehe. The Dreadnaughtus was a very creative design, and to be fair, the Rhynio has an ability list as long as my arm so who's to say what will and won't make it in. It's difficult to find a niche for a sauropod given they are already scaled up from reality, and there's only so many variations of tail/neck whipping damage sponge you can do, so coming up with something new is an achievement regardless. Congratulations on the top 10!

Ah yeah it would fit in with the titans quite well! So many of these creatures popup repeatedly that I assume for many it's a "no matter what" situation for getting it in, but many clearly fit one map over others. Seeing everyone scramble to find a reason something fit Scorched was quite funny.

I've only been playing Ark since the 2022 summer event, so this is the only the 3rd vote I've seen, but I'd be fine with any of them getting through (although perhaps not with those abilities haha). The previous two votes I struggled to pick more than 3 I was enthusiastic for at all. Apologies for not quite getting your taming method down btw, was I close? :D

@@freynlives yea the taming method was the only thing i struggled to come up with so i gave 2 possible options (The building or cannibalism) the building would be like crafting things nearby and then dropping it for the majunga to see and that kinda stuff almost like a gacha.

Gigantoraptor isn’t an oviraptor itself, but rather an OVIRAPTORAN, a group of oviraptor-like animals related to such.

I had a chat with someone while I was putting the video together over whether it was in the same genus/family due to physical similarities only, and not inheriting any behavioural traits. I’m gonna be honest, I love the Miracinonyx. I’ve never been one for fliers in Ark, they’ve always just been generally hard to tame. The Deinonychus was honestly my favorite addition from Valguero that made traversal and movement early game a lot easier. So seeing another creature that does the same, but also able to run across water at Tek Level? Yes, please. Maybe give it a slight weight reduction on anything it’s rider is carrying/wearing, like the inverse of the shoulder pets.

Dude, where have you been all my Ark life ? This was such a good video, I'm glad KZbin recommended it to me. I liked how you went into introducing the scientific/historic aspect of the real-life creature, and the proposed abilities specific to Ark, including from commenters below the original submitter ; that's very thorough ! And since so many of us are into dinosaurs (and not just into Ark gameplay), that was really satisfying to see. It's also nice to have a video without music blasting in the background while you talk, sometimes it's ok not to be excited about everything :P How come I've never seen your channel around ?! 9:05 Nooo XD Not the cosplay ! The issue I have with the creature votes is that despite WildCard's warnings that we're only supposed to vote for a species, we all end up taking potential abilities and use into consideration when voting. Ideally I keep thinking that WildCard should select a few abilities and let us pick one from them ; it would make clear that we have two separate priorities when voting. But WildCard never listens to me u_u Sidenote : even if the Notho doesn't happen, or not as is... can we lobby WildCard for bioluminescent dyes ?!

Thank you so much! My channel has only been up a few months and my video output isn't crazy fast (mixture of games, and for ARK I'm currently doing co-op so am restricted a little), but I know from experience elsewhere that feedback is not the easiest thing to get, so this is fantastic, thank you!! As you said the vote is meant to be about the creature, not the abilities, which is why I tried to include some historical information - although kept it light because it's still an ARK video after all. I adored dinosaurs as a child but ARK has really helped rekindle that, even if they're not particularly accurate at times hehe. I would've liked to add some very light music actually, but haven't found any I liked. It would be more work on Wildcards end, but I too would like to see them give each idea the once over and post something up with "This is how we would implement it if chosen" so we can make a more informed choice. And yes... bioluminescent, please! Turn everything Aberrant without needing an entirely new species.

Even once we've chosen the species, saying "ok we want to give this and this ability, here are a handful of options for the third ability" would be nice. But oh well. Oh I need to look at your other Ark videos (I don't really watch other games 😅), I wish you the best with this new adventure then :)

This is one of the most wonderfully put together videos on the votes I’ve seen! (Definitely not biased as the Gigantoraptor creator) Really appreciate that you lay out all the abilities of the creatures, since that’s something I feel some of the larger channels forget. Yes, abilities aren’t guaranteed, but it’s important to consider the foundation that WC builds off of! And let’s be honest, unfortunately people tend to not bother reading all the well written concepts, so a video format like this is super great to have! Thanks for the wonderful showcase!

Thank you very much, and congratulations on the top 10 :) While it definitely makes sense for Wildcard to merge the suggestions for a single creature into a single thread (as the vote is meant to be for a creature), it feels a bit unfair to all the effort people put in, for them to not at least post a consolidation of ideas or a "How we would implement this" when the final vote begins. And as you say, they do usually take at least partial inspiration from the suggestion!

Honestly, your submission seems like something that’s really needed in the game for Console players in particular. Though, that depends on if ASA doesn’t fully implement mods as a feature. Still love the idea of a baby feeder/AC/Nanny hybrid Dino. Seems like the perfect way to mass breed armies for bosses with players that have issues gathering.(Players like me 😅)

Hehe, all in good fun! It's hard to suggest something original as most niche's are already covered, and in all honesty I don't think anyone can deny gamers on average want things to be OP as hell. The Rhynio and Bastion were both popular in previous votes and they had more abilities than the Bison, it definitely helps to draw attention in, and given the way the submissions work you've got to try and stand out or get in early. They're only ideas after all, we know in advance the dev's make the final choice. The only real frustration is seeing all the "But I wanted..." complaints when something doesn't make it, but that's neither here nor there. IIRC the Bison has been in before suggested by another user as well?

@@freynlives When Lost Islands vote came in, this submission didn't exist, the "prototype submission" was by user Iryan94. Fjordur is when I created this one. The last creature vote for ASE, my submission was reposted by Nekatus, the creator Valguero and Fjordur with my permission. I then resubmitted the Fjordur one for this vote, but decided to add in suggestions by people, but boy was there alot.

With the vote *technically* being for the creature and not the abilities, they get merged into one thread, but we all know only the first post really gets read (and if anything is implemented, it's usually from there).

Haha, that's a very fair point. I'm hoping it'll spawn in the river that runs up the desert, I don't think there's any Cnidaria there. Maybe Wildcard will give it immunity? Those Jellies really just shut down the usefulness of so many ocean tames already :(

I would love a herbivore herd species that focuses on migration. They wander from one side of the map to another as a herd let's say from the desert area to the Highlands. It would not only be an awesome thing to see in the wild but also a cool feature when playing with friends

I suspect it's too big of a departure from the existing game, but I would LOVE to see an implementation of proper seasons and dino migration as a general feature of ASA. A fully living, breathing world. Ark2 has a better chance for it though I guess, ASE/ASA are after all meant to be in an artificial ecosystem rather than an organic one, so if the overseer says no seasons then no seasons :(

@freynlives personally I'd just love to see all the dinosaurs behave like they would in a wild environment. Hunting only to eat, drinking from water, herbivores walk around the map in groups searching for food etc. ARK has done great setting the ground work so more realistic animal behaviors would really go a long way in terms of Emersion

I'm quite interested in reptiles so I've watched a few documentaries/videos about caimans, they're an incredible animal and extremely well evolved hunter. Knowing that the Giant Otter is not only competing in the same ecosystem but also preying on them shows just how dangerous they can be! The one pictured here just casually lying around without fear says it all. Scale it up and you've got a serious beast on your hands!

So many of these have unusual saddle designs to them! Two wagons, a sled, double platform w/ turrets, the Cheetahs Tek saddle, technically the Bars was a normal saddle but the artwork suggested it having dynamic look dependant on weight. I love the creativity put out for this vote.

In theory, August 2023. I'm not sure they've ever technically said a release date so much as that it would go on sale then... but that is the timeframe the community has been following, and Wildcard have yet to issue any correction to the multitude of posts/videos using it. In reality, who knows!

I think - or hope rather - the Centers popularity will increase a bit once it's redone. I love the ruins and the general shape and design of the map, but the older assets are extremely noticeable, for instance the water, or several of the northern islands feel a bit under-detailed. A unique creature would help draw in some interest for sure.

This is not a genuine problem to have, if anything it’s a good thing, but this time around all the suggestions are great! The suggestions for the Scorched vote were strong as well, so I can’t wait to see what’s next. My favorite are the gigantoraptor, sivatherium, bison, and barsboldia. That being said, none of the other suggestions were bad in my opinion, in fact I’d be completely fine with any of them winning. Powerful herbivores, an actually unique theropod, interesting mammals, and solid returning creatures. Great choices.

@@freynlives That it is. It’s great when the only problem one has is deciding what to vote for cause everything is decent. The previous two votes before this in my opinion have gotten better and better. While the vote before them left much to be desired in my opinion, I’ve thankfully been in the “I have obvious favorites but pretty much everything here is a good pick” boat for the Scorched vote and current vote. Like I said I do hope this kind of theme keeps up with the ascended votes, I can’t wait to see what wins and what new creatures will be in future votes.

I’m gonna be so pissed if the Nothosaurus wins, it’s just a slightly different version of other amphibious creatures which we have plenty of such as the Sarco, Kapro, Bary etc + it just doesn’t fit the map at all if we want a new water creature we should add it in a water filled map like the island, the center or gen1

Judging by the Scorched Earth suggestions, I think a lot of people are making submissions without the actual map in mind, trying to get as many opportunities as they can. I agree that a couple would fit other maps a little more, Rag really doesn't have much use to the water despite the sheer size of it. I'd love to have the desert fleshed out a bit more personally.

The canyons are what I tend to think of most when I think of 'unique to Rag', but both the desert and the highlands feel a bit... forgotten. I mostly say the desert because it's a full 1/4 of the map but feels empty, I only really head out there for the drops tbh. It wouldn't even necessarily need to be a creature for either biome, just... something to make you go there more!
