Nice project Keith, definitely a lot more difficult than you would think just looking at it! At 2.42, one trick you might want to try is wrapping sand paper around one of the two pieces, and then using it as a sanding block to create the exact size/shaped opening - really helpful when you're trying to join two unusual objects :)

That's a fantastic idea, I've seen it done before but it's one of those tricks I always forget when I'm making things, frustratingly! Thank you and Happy Christmas!

Nice job About the issues with the drilling in the beginning; use a smaller bit first and quickly tap it back and forth, a bit like a pilot hole. That way you'll have a much better start.

Nice job. Good to see people making presents for Christmas, they mean so much more. I can recommend buying a v-guide. I use it to ensure I'm drilling straight but is also invaluable for drilling tube and dowel.

Hi Keith, nice project. I'm sure she'll love it. A couple of comments if I may. If you'd put the epoxy on the end of the cue before inserting it, you wouldn't have got "squeeze out" and epoxy on the taper. Likewise with the centre pin. Like you, I use hot melt glue for temporary fixings. But be careful, it can lift wood slivers from the good piece (I've learnt the hard way). Seasons greetings to you both.

Merry Xmas Keith, thanks for all the videos during the year. I know the history behind the cues, but being a fustrated ex-snooker player, I couldnt help squirming when I see the cues getting cut up. Take care & best wishes for 2020 Pat ☘️

Nice project, I think i've probably said this a dozen times but please get a lathe! They can be had for really cheap as old boys pop their clogs and often folk just want them gone.
@sburge19894 жыл бұрын
@JSTR My local hardware shop doesn't actually sell dowels and when I asked the guy showed me a bag of little pegs that you might use for IKEA furniture. A lathe isn't a necessity, but then most tools aren't. Even a table saw isn't a must have item.

Gorgeous piece and great accents with the tapers, chamfers, and brass. Was, however, disappointed there was no hat/coat stand bits used... waited with bated breath the whole video 🤣 Merry Christmas to you and yours Keith. Here's to an even better 2020 !!

Hi Keith. I was wondering if an off-set marker could have helped you find the centre of that cue (before drilling). I think Rockclear make them. I picked up a couple at a trade show in China a few years ago now and they are a handy piece of kit and I use mine all the time.

It's fantastic actually, very very quiet, a big improvement over the Thor I used before. But be aware that Rutland's sell exactly the same machine but a different colour for much less money. I bought mine secondhand on eBay 👍
