It's amazing how many people don't realize that disposable blades can be sharpened. I'm speaking from experience. I never thought of it until someone showed me. An older gentleman who used the striking pad from a book of matches to sharpen his disposable shaving razors. Since then, I sharpen my X-Acto blades, utility blades and more until I can't sharpen them any more then I toss them. Great tips, thank you.

i am missing a piece of panneling on my wall so the studs are exposed, and i put my f clamps over those, the stud between the jaws, but your way is quicker, i also have some milk crates turned upside down , that i put rod shaped studd in through the grates, 2 stacked , so there are 2 grates for stability

You talked about burning your blade. You should sharpen with the cutting edge being the first part of the blade to touch the stone or belt as doing that pushes the heat away from the cutting edge and in to the thicker metal..

I beg to differ on the glubot bottles. Once you have used one you really see the benefit. No more shaking the bottle to get the glue to come out. It is right where you need it all the time. I did find a supply in the UK and got 2 bottles and replacement tips for about 25 quid. In my opinion well worth it. Rest of your video has convinced me to bite the bullet and get some sort of bench grinder / sander. Have been debating it but your results helped justify it. Thanks.
@RagnBoneBrown
@RagnBoneBrown 6 жыл бұрын
I couldn’t justify spending 25 quid on plastic bottles personally I don’t see the benefit. We’re all different though that’s what makes the world go round :-)
@JasonShowell
@JasonShowell 6 жыл бұрын
Oh I totally agree. I assume you have seen how they work as you can hold them in any position and get the glue out exactly as you want it. For me this works a lot for constructing things that I can't turn over or move around. Personal choice is everything, sorry if I came across as if I was saying you were wrong.

I didn't know "washing up liquid" was one of those terms that's different between the UK and US. We just call it "dish soap" usually. Anyway, I like the idea of using pieces of pipe as clamps, that's clever! I'm glad I'm not the only one who dislikes the Gluebot. What bugged me most about the one I tried was that the glue slowly dried inside the long spout and also right at its outlet. I really don't know why people like those things.
