Scanning cards (17:56): its not about lighting conditions, but all three corners (white dots) must be visible, while card 1 has its right corners hidden, therefore scanning application is lost.
@salty-horse10 жыл бұрын
At 33:37, again, the camera may misread because of the dots. Keep the cards apart and fully visible.

holy crap radho... you deserve props for tackling a game like this while filming... must have been a nightmare to keep track of all the technical stuff as well as the game. excellent work! you helped in clearing up a lot of questions i had after reading the rules. i wish you would have went into some more detail about the debunking aspect becase thats the only part i still dont quite understand. otherwise, you did an outstanding job!

so interesting how the imaginary player always surprises the narrator...:))) this was awesome, it made me figure out how the game is played, and that is all that matters. the details will have to be particular, but good to see some options before playing. thank you!
@salty-horse10 жыл бұрын
At 18:07, scanning won't work unless the camera picks up the 3 white dots on the corners of the cards. The cards overlap, so the camera can't pick up the left one.

I've just got this game and your walk through is top notch in explaining the thought process of what actions to take at a particular time. *Big thumbs up*. I do have a feeling that my brain is going to hurt for a while in trying to deduce the potions. But, that's part of the fun :). FYI - I've linked your video from my unboxing.

21:50... How do you know for sure that the mandrake is part of positive blue? Doesn't the two-tone marker mean that it is EITHER positive blue OR positive green? Couldn't it be positive green instead? In which case, wouldn't eliminating negative blue be a mistake?
@PauloRenato239 жыл бұрын
meowlina a note was already there for that case :) 22:03 I don't think that's correct... It means that Mandrake it might have a positive Blue or a Positive Green but you don't know which one it is

at 42:42 you mention that you can immediately Publish a new theory after Debunking one, but maybe it should be mentioned that you need to have a cube in a Publish Theory space to do so?
@colingillespie111910 жыл бұрын
It may be worth noting in the debunking section that with Richard's neutral potion, he has even more knowledge. Once he is reasonably confident about the mandrake, he can publish the bird's foot (or whatever it was) as being the opposite composition as well.

If you have 2 hands it also works great, it's very easy to fix imperfect lighting with a second hand.

I appreciate that you show the whole process of learning/playing a game, makes it feel like we are learning it together. Despite all the prep time I put into gamenight, I still rely on my wife to give me gentle coarse corrections when I miss the mark. :)

Just a rules question: if Jenn hadn't used the barmaid when selling her potion, she would not have been paid? Her potion was not what she guaranteed so she normally wouldn't have been paid for creating a potion worse than her guarantee?

Hi Radho, I bought this game a few days ago. I'm not sure about reputation though. Does reputation only affect you when you're selling a potion? What happens if you create a - blue potion while trying out a potion yourself and your reputation is in the green area where you lose +1 reputation? Do you also lose an extra reputation in that case or is it just for when you're selling a potion to an adventurer?Thanks

AFAL Gameplays hi, there's actually a really useful forum on boardgamegeek where you can get pretty much any rules question answers, so you should probably head over there! www.boardgamegeek.com/forum/1540111/alchemists/rules :)

So, Richard, is this on Jen's top 10 or 20 list after all? My husband and I finally bought the game last week, and I can't get enough of it. This and Anachrony are my favorite well-themed Euros (one for sci-fi and one for fantasy, of course!). : )

Can multiple combinations make the same potion? If not, the blue/green token should've just been blue.
@Nauro508 жыл бұрын
You are kinda mixing two things together here. Yes, same potion can be made by different ingredients (4 combinations). But same ingredients will make the same potion in the same game. That two colour token comes to play when you are "testing on customers" . Basically you are mixing blind and using it as another test. And the result of that can be that you know you've produced a potion with the correct sign, but not the correct colour, so it must be one of the other two colours.
@thePbHammer10 жыл бұрын
Is there a colorblind mode for the results?
@rahdo10 жыл бұрын
thePbHammer nope, but when you get the results, everyone at the table is told, so unless all the players are colorblind, it should still be playable. i agree though, extra symbols would have been smart

Or different shapes for each potion... heart shaped potion for red, wing shaped for green, star shaped for blue. Or basic shapes like circle, triangle, square respectively

Chickleg or Crows Feet?
@rahdo10 жыл бұрын
Travis Wood that is the question!
@Siggy31310 жыл бұрын
I find most folklore regarding bird legs a in witch's brew actually calls for the claw of a raven. Real questions then are does the species of raven change the effect and, for that matter, does whether you're using the right foot or the left? I mean, if the right foot of a common raven is what's supposed to go in to, say, a love potion, what happens if you put in the left instead? Does it make them hate you, or feel amorous with your general presence, or just flat out turn 'em purple? Or what if the potion calls for a New Zealand raven foot? Those buggers are extinct! Will a common raven work as well or will the potion just be lost forever? Mysteries of alchemy/witchcraft that probably most people don't wonder, but I've got a mind that always asks, "What would happen if...?"
