Couldn’t believe how many of the boxes where still available at Essen at about 17:00hr on Sunday. Other new hotness games (Great Western Trail, Luna Capital, Genotype, Ark Nova, Living Forest, Stroganov, Roll Camera, Messina 1347, Golem, etc.) where by this time already long sold out.

Do you think it would be possible to deal out 2 decrees per player and pick one (and play with personal hidden decrees, instead of public) to have more of a direction in the game? Or do you think it would be too unbalanced? Thank you
@rahdo
@rahdo 2 жыл бұрын
that's a good question. in theory it would work. i think you'd want to keep at least one public decree as well to keep the race tension up. also, the decrees have different categories and you're supposed to ensure that there are no dupe categories, so not sure how that might affect things...

I think it might work for the first couple of games, if you're in trouble with the different strategies/directions you can take into in the game :) take care

I wonder if you could you add the Gilgabot into a 2P game... that would give you more of the dynamic changes you would like to have.
@rahdo
@rahdo 2 жыл бұрын
i really bet you could. dave turczi (the solo designer) positied that his bot for tekhenu could be added just fine to 2p in that game... :)

I looked through a presentation of the game Tascini did on an italian board game channel, and I remember this exact question came up, and I think Daniele's answer was simply "No", because the 3-4 player game uses the other side of the game board which *hasn't* got the special signs/markings or whatever that are crucial in games where you use the bot. Could this be true Rahdo, after you've seen and looked at the board in person? In any case, maybe that's something that could easily be fixed by some homemade small added tiles/pieces/whatever. Edit: In that somewhat early video presentation/playthrough Tascini also said that he himself was going to do the solo mode, so maybe a lot of water have run under the bridges since and the thing about adding the bot to 2-3p games is no longer valid in the final version, I've no idea.

@@borreholic7238 oh yeah, that's a very good point, i forgot about the 3-4p side of the board!

@@rahdo @Bernie K I actualy did the solo mode, and it took me almost as much as the whole game :D My plan was to make it available for any number of player count, but in the end we had no time to adapt the 3-4 board side to be used with the bot. You can try to play a 3-player game (2ppl + 1 bot) on the 2 player side of the board. It will be a bit narrow but it might work.

Kogge has the same idea of where you can go next is linked to the tile number that I take from this area, instead of using dice. I like deeper, so this would fire Kogge for me.

Wow. After watching the run through and now this I am so torn about whether I need this game or not. In the run through I got the feeling that this would be an easier teach, and you would pronounce it a lighter game than Tekhenu (the only other one I've played in the series). That was going to be an insta-buy for me. And yet here you thoroughly emphasize how much heavier Tabannusi is. Were you just referring to emergent complexity, or rules (and teach) as well? I did anticipate your comments for two player (perhaps I'm getting to know you too well 😉) and wondered if you might suggest running the bot in a two player game. EDIT: Just saw the 'bot in 2 player game' discussion below. Kindly ignore that question.
@rahdo

i would say tekhenu is a more complex game actually. tabannusi wasn't that hard to teach, i found :)

How do you compare this one with Trismegistus in terms of heaviness? :D I love Trismegistus and I will give this one a try as well, I like heavy games in general, but I mainly play them solo, I hope this one has a great solo mode

I’m a big fan of the T series, so I’m excited to check this out. How do you rank them? For me, it’s probably: 1. Tawantinsuyu 2. Trismegistus 3. Tzolk’in 4. Teotihuacan 5. Tekhenu Hopefully I got all of them (not counting Tabannusi) or didn’t improperly include some that aren’t in the series. :)

I'm closer to you Jerrod, I'd go: 1. Trismegistus 2. Tawantinsuyu 3. Tzolk'in 4. Tekhenu 5. Teotihuacan After my one play of Tabannusi I'd put it close to the middle, on one side or the other of Tzolk'in.

Absolutely love this one, but my wife doesn't like what she perceives to be a "take that" vibe in the 2-player game. I think with the lack of much traffic in a two-player game, she found that I was repeatedly pouncing on her buildings that she hoped to build.
