I'm be honest with you, I sat down in addicted to audio and tried a whole bunch of shit cans, chose the Elear without hearing the Utopia then went back later and tried the Utopia for comparison. Unfortunately, the guys there sat there answering phones, something to do with paying customers blah.. so I couldn't tell the difference between these open backed marvels. Very happy with the Elear and I would recommend the Elex for even better value through drop.com

Corley Kinnane I haven’t heard either the elear or elex. Have heard the clear, which I don’t own, and utopia which I know better because of more time to listen. Without comparing all of them, on same material, at same ‘energy’ ie what I mean is apparent perceived volume, in quick (and even this test is problematic, can explain if needed) successive A/B/C tests, I have no idea of any meaningful differences in any audio gear/models/makes to my own ears (only, my own ears and feeling, important to factor that in too). So basically, my comment is made for this intention: if you like sound, and are getting sound you like from any/some/all headphones or iem or speakers you like, then that is all that matters, and until you can do your own tests in your own ways that are meaningful to you for your own ears only, what I say or don’t, means literally nothing to the power of nothing. That’s my main point here, but I will stress this; at the end of the comment: MUSIC is beautiful, in my opinion. Xx

@@raithistlethwayte Indeed, music is amazing and getting the cans and trying with a/b blind testing is important for each individual's ears, I'm in my forties now though and even getting a little musician's tinitus, so my search is over, I couldn't do much better than what I have now anyway. Love the jams, dig the scats and the fact that you slide in and out of going nuts. The Focals have such a natural timbre to me, Gypsy jazz sounds awesome twang with punch in every note, the bass is fat and driving like your auntie Mary before weight watchers and the treble is pristine, precise and none of these frequencies interfere like your auntie Mary when I'm holding cake.
