Alolan Raichu is way better imo. Design wise it's perfect, a psychic mouse that uses its big tail as a surfboard is such an interesting design and concept. Also, it is so adorable with an amazing shiny. Gotta love it. Normal raichu is cool too but just kinda seems bland in comparison if I'm honest.

A-Raichu has now been unleashed in gen 8. Dynamax weakness policy make this thing a scary sweeper. Sets up it's on terrain, gets surf to make it rain, so when Dyna wears off, you're still hitting incredible Thunders with about 700 speed.

Here's the thing: You will want both the Kantonian and Alolan Raichu,because both are very strong Electric Pokemons. Both have insane Speed and Attack; The Kantonian Raichu delviers very strong Electric Attacks,hwile the Alolan Raichu may give a great Speed Buff to its teammate,if I remember correctly,plus he can Surf,which means he can cause more damage to Ground types,despite their innate resistance to Electric damage. So having both in your team means one hell of a jolt which will most likely drive your opponents straight into the ground.

I do love both Raichu forms. Kantonian Raichu will always have a special place in my heart due to the anime and Lt Surge's gym. I do also love Alolan Raichu and named mine Pukah in memory of that blue eyed surfing Pikachu from the anime. If it had evolved maybe it would've been an Alolan Raichu! I really liked the fresh content. I can't wait to see more Metronome battles :)

Alolan Raichu is basically a straight upgrade over the old fat electric rat (seriously, have you SEEN Raichu's Crystal sprite? That's what REALLY happens when a Raichu eats too many pancakes). While the stat upgrades for Alolan Raichu aren't too big and its ability isn't a huge improvement, the main thing that Alolachu benefits from is a far superior movelist. While it doesn't learn too many more moves than regular Raichu, the ones it does (Psychic, Psyshock and Calm Mind) are a massive improvement over Raichu's limited type coverage and lack of setup moves.
